Right now I am using the PasswordRecovery control, and i have security questions disabled. So all the user has to do is put their User Name, and hit submit, then their password is e-mailed to them.
But, a lot of my users forget their User Name, so right below I have a User Name recover section. The user inputs their e-mail address, and their corresponding user name shows up.
I would like to simplify this and just require the user's e-mail address to provide them their user name AND password.

i have a master/details page which shows walks planned for the future and they can click "details" for the full details
but what i want to incorporate into it is that when they are looking at the full details there is an option to add them to it as attending by entering a user name and password (saved in a table in the database) and if entered correctly their username will be added to it as attending.

Sep 10, 2010I am struggling to login into my web portal on my new sony vaio laptop. I think that I need to do some settings, or download some plugin. Infact I don't know what to do, as I have spent many hours trying to login, but no success. Below is my office website:[URL]When I enter my credentials and click login, the web page gets refreshed, i.e username and password get erased, rather than taking me into my web-portal. The laptop is having windows 7 home premium, with ie8. I have also tried installing firefox, chrome, opera and safari, but same problem.
as sony has refused to take the laptop back and they are saying that there is problem with website. Similarly, website staff are saying that there is a problem with the laptop and not with the website.

Mar 4, 2010i use the CreateUserWizard in order to create users. Asp.net generates automatically a password which is sent to the user by email.
The emailaddress must be like this: firstname.name@ourdomain.be . If 'firstname.name' doesn't exist in our Exchange server ('ourdomain.be'), then:
1) the user is still created
2) the message page with: 'Mailbox unavailable. The server response was: 5.1.1 User unknown' appears
E.g: if user John Wayne introduces by error Jhn.Wayne@ourdomain.be , then this user must not be created, and only a simple Alert-message must appear.
I tried a lot of Try / Catch / Endtry but all my attempts fail: the user is always created and the whole message page appears. I also tried with CreateUserWizard1_SendMailError sub.1

Nov 30, 2010I was/am struggling with security for my first MVC applicaiton. It worked out great for me, but not for my users. I wanted to use Windows Authentication (and I seem to have that working). But when I was still trying to implement it, I was on one of our users computers where they were logged in. I navigated to the main Index page and used the supplied MVC login link and *MY* credentials. So now every time that user navigates to that page, it logs her in as me. We are using IE8, I have deleted all the cookies, passwords, forms information I can fine through Tools|Internet Options|Tool|Content|AutoComplete.

Security :: Caps Lock Is Off When Enter User Name It Prints In Capital Letters But Size Is Small size?
Oct 20, 2010In login.aspx I have used login control to enter user name and password, the problem is: even my caps lock is off when I enter user name it prints in capital letters but size is small size (when I copy and paste in note pad or msword it paste in small letters not in capital letters), when I turn on my caps lock on and type - it prints in bigger size as if I am typing in capital letters.
ex: 1. temp is my user name if my caps lock is off it shows like this TEMP (but size in smaller than 2nd one)
2. if my caps lock is on is shows like this as if I am typing capital letters TEMP
what do you think the problem is how can I fix it

But when he shall execute the buy he has to reenter his password again to check the user a second time. How do I check if his entered password matches his user password? I´m using the ASP Membership library and I have passwordFormat="Hashed".

Nov 14, 2010I have an ASP.Net 4.0 application that is using Forms Authentication and ActiveDirectoryMembershipProvider. It authenticates against Active Directory running on Windows Server 2008 R2.I use ChangePassword control for changing passwords.When the user changes the password he can log on for some time with the old password. My client feels this is a security problem with the application. Is there any way to make sure the old password does not work after the user changes it?Also, if I do iisreset on the web server, the old password stops working. The password must be cached somewhere in the web app.
