I read data from Excel sheet and I display this data in grid view the problem when I save this data the asp.net tell me that this page contain dangerous code I want solution to this problem but I don't want to enable EnableEventValidation for security reasons.

I am using ASP.Net 4.0/Visual Studio 2010. However, I think it would be the same if it was ASP.Net/VB.Net 3.5. I am inserting three form filed values into a database table. I have placed a LoginName Control on the page and the login name is properly displaying. I am using forms Authentication and it is set up properly in the web config file. I simply want to insert the logged in username value into the database table so I can track who created the records. I am happy to be able to insert the UnserName or the UserID value. I assume both of the values are derived out of the aspnet_Users table. Being able to insert either one would be fine but I believe UserID would be better because it will always be unique.

I have this food recipe asp.net c# application I'm working on and I would like to be able to insert a list of tags into the database for each recipe. So let's say I have three tags (southern, cajun, gumbo) that correspond to a gumbo recipe. How would I insert these three tags into the database from the UI? Would I store them in a List, run a foreach, and insert each tag individually? I'd really like to be able to somehow use a stored procedure to do this.

View 3 RepliesThe pages text are modified and styled with an HTML editor (teleric). The resulting html is stored in a database. The html and style tags are stored with the text ofcourse.
Now, sometimes the HTML tags are DELETED from the text! I realize this has happened first when i see the page text totaly plain on the site. Then i go to the databse and check, and the HTML tags and styling is not there anymore!
The only thing i can think of that could be reason is a method i wrote to search in the text. It strips the texts from html tags so that only the main text will be used when searching for the string that the user has asked for. But the modified texts without HTML tags are not saved to the database. I use LINQ and i never call a SubmitChanges();

i have created a aspx page with the script manager, update panels and so on. Now, when i use some jquery functions which are included inside the head tags, when the page is run, i find the script tags generated inside the body instead of the head tag. i'm using visual studio 2005 only.

I wrote code of chart with sqldatasource in database column. My problem is I could not able bind. I used DataList Control with a template and literal. Bind literal with <%# Eval("Code") %> But In sql I have ASP.NET tags <% %>. and when processing process %>, it assumes asp.net ends and wrote other text as it is in out put. how to bind this text. Is there a way to apply your own CSS tags to <li> tags when using ASP .NET 4.0 menu control? For example, say I have an external style sheet that has tags "class1", "class2", "class3", and etc. I want to apply "class1" to the first menu item. Then if menu item is selected, I want to apply "class2" and if it's not selected, "class3". I played with various 'Static' styles, but just can't get it work. I finally gave up and created my own menu control that extends ASP .NET menu control and provides my own custom rendering. This works, but I'm wondering if there is a way to get it work with built-in menu control.

I have an application that has a user Login Control (provided by ASP). I am just now working with the integration of a dataBase created in MS visual studio 2010, to a developed website created in MS visual web developer 2010. My main goal is to create an authentication ticket that enables a user to be able to see a dataBase information only after that user has been successfully authenticated.
Up to now I'm able to see the dataBase when i run the website even if I'm not log-in, how i can create a home page that tells the user to log-in and once that user has successfully log-in it redirects the user to another page where the user can see the database and how I can add information to that dataBase only to specific members

View 11 RepliesI was just wondering if anyone has ever had to port the schema across? Are there any experts that could pitch their opinions on the achievability of this (mad) idea? I'm using the IBM Migration Toolkit and as expected its throwing a bunch of translation errors some of which were relatively easy to solve (vendor specific function calls for example) and some will take quite a while to pin down and work round.... however this is not my main concern.
If completed I expect I am going to have to basically rework all the System.Web.Profile/Roles/Membership namespace classes etc to work round the SQL limitations of informix (i.e. IDS11.x SQL server doesnt have a DEFAULT (newguid()) so that would have to be put into the calling method) (and any MVP comments really as I can slap my boss round with the weight after he ludicrously agreed to this project for a client without doing any research...)
you could create your own custom Profile provider that operates against existing database tables .i want u to help me out if u have an idea where i can get steps by steps to carry out the above operation.i know there are various options in creating profile , particularlly the use of web. configuration, the default ASPNETDB, and XML files, BUT i wish to use an existing database which i prefer.

Considering various different user roles in scripting- role base access on same page. not in the database Different user should be able to see only particular information on the page, which is assign to him. This should be done on the bases of scripting not in the database.In short administrators and users contains should be on one page and they should be distinguish according to the role of administrator and user on same page.
Need to put validation and verification on the scripting page, not from the database.

Defination of project
The goal of this project is to extend role-based access from data to scripts. The users are classified into different roles. A script will display different information according to the role of the user.
The main aim behind implementing this project is, as nowadays people try to access the code and try to break into the secure codes via cookies as well as link information along with domain names. So in order to prevent this if the role base access security is kept on a script instead of database then it might be possibly less chance of breaking this kind of security.
In making this kind of functionality we need to deal security of webpage with the help of script. So the whole idea is to identify the user and separate contains which are only accessible to the specific user. In order to research and implement this project, we need to have core understanding and knowledge of the scripting fundamental and how exactly the scripting is working on webpage.
So looking towards this project we are planning to deal with somehow role base access in scripting.
Nowadays you might have seen security has become a larger issue, moreover providing security on website is one of the major concerned in today's life. As the network of wired and wireless network has extended in very large volume, you can see unsecure internet access in many place and in this unsecure there might be possibility of hacking becomes very easy.
So in order to make this security tight or in order to make website more secure we are planning to build this project.
I would like to use the Role Membership and User Security database as my application database too. That is, just add the tables and relationships required by my application's data access layer to the Membership and Roles Database to save on hosting fees, (I have to pay extra for having two databases instead of one). Of course, the connection string would have to be adjusted, but I don't see a downside considering the application's database is actually an Access database. What can I say, it was a requirement at the time.
