Destroy Session Object When Logging Out From Home Page?

Mar 31, 2010

I have created a website. I login with username and password and after authenticating i redirect the user to Home Page. When the user clicks Logout, they are redirected to the Login Page. But after this when i click the BACK button on the browser, it again goes back to the Home Page with that user's login credentials. I have used Session["username"]=null in the Page_Load function of Home Page. How to avoid going back to the Home Page when the BACK button is clicked by the User??

Security :: IE8 Session, Logging Out From One Tab Causes Both Tabs To Logout, But Can't Log Back In?

Nov 10, 2010

I have a website built in ASP.net 3.5, using WinForms and AjaxToolKit. I have encountered a lost/corrupt session issue while using Internet Explorer 8.

Scenerio:

1 IE8 Browser Open, 1 Tab
--------------------------------------

1. Login, Redirect to Landing, Logout - WORKS AS EXPECTED
2. Login, redirect to Landing, Close Window, Open Window, Logged-in already - WORKS AS EXPECTED (remember me enabled by default in code)

1 IE8 Browser, 2 Tabs
--------------------------------------
1. Login, Redirect to Landing, Open new tab, paste Landing page URL, Landing renders. - WORKS AS EXPECTED
- Logout from Tab 2, Tab 1 logs out after AJAX update. - WORKS AS EXPECTED
- Login from Tab 1, Redirects to Landing, then Redirects back to Login page - ISSUE

[code]...

2. Close Window,Login,Redirect to Landing - WORKS AS EXPECTED

2 IE8 Browser, 1 Tab
--------------------------------------
1. Open 2 IE windows
2. In Window 1, Login, Redirect to Landing, then Redirects back to Login. - ISSUE
- Window 2 Paste Landing page URL, Landing page renders - ISSUE, STRANGLY NOW WORKS

[code]...

This issue seems to only happen when I have multiple tabs open,or multiple rwssers open.Firefox and Chrome does not reproduce this issue and works as expected. How do I make sure the Cookie/Session is being handle correctly in IE8?

Here is my Login Auth:

VS 2008 Want To Give A Warning On BACK Button And REDIRECT To HOME PAGE?

Jan 22, 2010

I've got a HomePage.aspx page - user clicks "NEW PROJECT" and they get brought to the NewProject.aspx page.

While on this page they click CONTINUE buttons on the page that move you through 3 stages of CASE creation.

If they click BACK - the BROWSER BACK button - I want to pop up a warning.

Quote:

Going back will return you to the client homepage, and all data entered for this project will be lost. Do you wish to proceed?

If they click NO they return to where they just were - as if they did not click BACK.

Is this possible?

If not - can I make BACK just return to the HomePage.aspx - as if all the NewProject.aspx postbacks were not new page entries in the BROWSER history.

Flickr does something like that. When you click on the "in the last minute" link and see recent photos - then click reload several times - each of those reloads does not go into BROWSER BACK history. If you click BACK you are back onto the initial [URL] home page.

Security :: FormsAuthentication At Root - Displays Without Logging In When Navigate To URL (the Default Page For The Directory)

Jan 18, 2011

When I navigate to [URL] (the default page for the directory) it displays it without logging in (as I want). But when going to [URL] FormsAuthentication redirects to [URL] to login. There isn't a way to set the path for just "/" in the web.config, I get an error. This only happens on my ISP (hosted Windows 2003), I can't reproduce this issue locally on my test 2003 boxes.

Logging From Framework Internals (Logging. On) - How To Turn On Logging

Jul 6, 2010

I'm debugging some unexpected behavior and while tracing in to the .NET framework I see a bunch of stuff like this:

if (Logging.On) {
Logging.PrintInfo(Logging.Web, this, SR.GetString(SR.net_log_n_certs_after_filtering, filteredCerts.Count));
...
}

But (as expected by default) the execution steps right over these. Is there some way to turn on the logging? Or is that just something that the framework developers can do while making special builds of the framework?

Security :: Set And Send Back To Requesting Page?

May 6, 2010

I made a custom MembershipProvider to work with Oracle and my own database schema. I also have my own layout of controls and am not using the built in ASP log in controls. I don't even want to use it templatized. Reason being is that I don't want to show all those controls on one page.I want on the top of every page on the siteUsername textbox Password textbox Sign In button Register buttonI created a register form as the first step of trying out my provider. Everything has landed in the database correctly. Now my problem is that when a user clicks the Register button from any page, I need to note what page is requesting the registration form and then send them back when registration is complete. The built in controls seem to automate this behavior, but I do not know how to do it myself. So question is: How can I program the site to remember what page a user came from when clicking a register button, then send the user back when registration is completed?

Security :: Redirect User To Login Page And Back

Nov 19, 2010

How would I go about to solve this:

When the user clicks a button and the user has been inactive for too long (session is gone), then redirect the user to the login page and back to the current page after logging in?

Is there a built in solution to this or do I have to do it manually? If so, how?

MVC :: Why Isn't Views / Home / Home.Master File Published When Publish Website

Aug 19, 2010

I spent the better part of today hunting down an elusive error. I was getting a message saying that it couldn't find the Index view for the Home controller, and it gave a list of locations it searched, e.g., ~/Views/Home/Index.aspx. This was really confusing as the file definitely existing and was at ~/Views/Home/Index.aspx, the first place in the list of locations it searched for the view!

What I eventually discovered was that there was a file that did not get published when I used Visual Studio's "Publish" feature (this is on the "Build" menu). That file was Views/Home/Home.master, and (as you can probably guess) is the master file used by Views/Home/Index.aspx. Once I copied that file into place manually, it started working. But I am left wondering--why??? Why does this file not get published? It's a part of my project, I can see it in the solution explorer, and it's obviously a critical file that's necessary for the MVC app to run. It has the same permissions as every other file in my project. So why wouldn't it get copied? And how can I fix it so it does get copied?

Performance - What Logging Listener Should Be Used In Production ( Logging Application Block)

Sep 10, 2010

I'm using MS Enterprise Logging Application Block in an ASP.NET website.

For production launch, I will set up a log listener in one of these locations:

Sql Server database
Windows event log
Text files

Which has the least impact on performance?

NB - I can't switch to Log4Net or ELMAH at this point, so don't suggest that in your response.
