Select Item In CascadingDropDown Via JavaScript And Invoke Update?

In code-behind I can do this to select something:
// Select item in first DropDownList
myCascadingDropDown_1.SelectedValue = itemValue_1+":::"+itemText_1;
// Select item in second DropDownList
myCascadingDropDown_2.SelectedValue = itemValue_2+":::"+itemText_2;
How can I do this in JavaScript?
EDIT:
I can select my desired item in the first dropdownlist. The problem is however, that new values based on that selected item (it is a CascadingDropDown, remember?) don't show in the second dropdown so I can't select anything there. I would need to somehow invoke the update method of the second dropdown manually.

I simply am trying to add a color to the select item background within the select elm after a user makes a selection from the select elm. The result right now is that in firefox, the colors will change, but only during selection ... after the selection has been made the background for the individual selection is still white.
This code works fine in IE but so far my efforts have been thuarted in FireFox.

P.s I made an equivalent javascript method and made some attempts at it, but the result is still the same. The background color of the item is changed ... but only is visible when making a selection, NOT after the selection is made.

I'm trying to implement a onclick event to select an item in a asp:ListViewControl.

Is it possible to add a new item to cascadingdropdown? I tried ddl_master.Items.Insert(0, "3"), but it doesn't show up. When I view the source in the browser it's there.

I have a DataList containing a list of elements(ASP.Net app). To delete an item i first used tha classic javascript confirmation. As i found it ugly,i want to use a confirmation box plugin. when i click OK==>Delete the item from DB(using a webservice) But how can i update the DataList. The situation is liek: when u add a comment in Facebook. delete link==>Conf box==>Delete==>Comments List update.

I have two sets of cascading drop down lists they are contained in a detailsview <edititemtemplate>. The problem is that when the user clicks update; the original data is wiped out and the user has to redo the selection of all items contained in a cascading dropdown even if the user didn't want to change that particular aspect of a record. If the user doesn't select everything an error is thrown by the stored procedure in regrds to null values not being valid.
Is there a way i can use cascadingdropdown so that the current values are visible when the user clicks update; meaning that they don't have to redo selections for all items involving drop down lists. The current selections would be default values.

I have a thread that runs querying a DB and returning some values. If this values satisfyes a condition, I want to raise a message box (javascript alert) for the client side.
In my system, users can post some tasks in DB, and the thread is going to constantly query the database to check if user has things to do. If user has, the system must alert him through a message box.
I've done javascripts invokings with ClientScript.RegisterStartupScript, and Attributes.Add for buttons. But now I want to call the javascript functions (wich will alert the user that he has things to do) from the midle of a sub (that is executed in a thread), without a submit, load or click event. How can I do it?

i have a religion dropdown1 , on this selectedindexchange i have to populate castes into the listbox(not dropdownlist).
i am unable to use cascadingdropdown as it is tightly binded with dropdowns.

I have a project that queries a set of times from a database and uses these entries to populate a dropdownlist. Once the page is loaded, the user can select one of the items in the DropDownList. When the "Save" button is clicked, the Selected item value is returned to the [HttpPost] version of the controller action. This item is then stored into session. If the system returns to the page containing the dropdown, I want the saved Value to be selected in the DropDownList. What actually happens is that the DropDownList is always set to be the first item in the list.

I have to fullfill a requirement where my activeX control (developed in c#) need to invoke a callback JavaScript function asynchronously (or) synchronously (or) in both ways. I can handle the context using threads. JavaScript:

myActiveXObject.registerCallBack(handler_1);
Where in ActiveX control, I need a function "registerCallBack" to accept the argument. But I have no clue how to invoke that registered JavaScript function from my ActiveX control. By digging MSDN forum, I found something as script.GetType().InvokeMember("myJSFunctionName", BindingFlags.Instance | BindingFlags.InvokeMethod | BindingFlags.Public, null, script, null);
the above line throwing me an exception Unknown Name etc. I do have the definition for "myJSFunctionName" in javascript and I got the script object from the document object.

I am trying to get a drop down and a form view to work together. I've never used form views before. I also am using the entity framework to do everything. This is also my first time with it.
I want to be able to have a drop down, that is populate from the same data source as the form view. So far that works fine.
I then want to be able to change the drop down item, and it change the form view item that is displayed. I cannot figure out how to make this work.

I have two Comboboxes where the second one is dependent upon the first one.
When the SelectedIndexChanged event of the first Combobox fires then the second Combobox will be enabled.
After the event, the second Combobox is enabled but I cannot select the ComboBox item.

I need to get it so that if i'm on Information folder, it selects the 2nd link, setting the id="selected" on the 2nd one, if in the Custodial one then 3rd one, etc.. Just wondering what way to do it, I thought about using the Request object to get the path and use that to see which folder I might be in, but thought there might be another way.

I have created the following select list item on a controller. code goes here........

And i made the required modification to the view and the select list was displayed successfully.But i faced the following two problems:-
1. i need to use the same select list in more than one controller , so for now i have to insert the same code in each controller to add the select list, so is there a way to define this select list in one place and then reuse it in all the related controllers
2. when i select a new value from the select list and i click on save button , the old value for the list will still be displayed ,and also no effect to the DB will be made.
