Feb 23, 2011I have a thread that runs querying a DB and returning some values. If this values satisfyes a condition, I want to raise a message box (javascript alert) for the client side.
In my system, users can post some tasks in DB, and the thread is going to constantly query the database to check if user has things to do. If user has, the system must alert him through a message box.
I've done javascripts invokings with ClientScript.RegisterStartupScript, and Attributes.Add for buttons. But now I want to call the javascript functions (wich will alert the user that he has things to do) from the midle of a sub (that is executed in a thread), without a submit, load or click event. How can I do it?

Mar 4, 2010I have to fullfill a requirement where my activeX control (developed in c#) need to invoke a callback JavaScript function asynchronously (or) synchronously (or) in both ways. I can handle the context using threads. JavaScript:

myActiveXObject.registerCallBack(handler_1);
Where in ActiveX control, I need a function "registerCallBack" to accept the argument. But I have no clue how to invoke that registered JavaScript function from my ActiveX control. By digging MSDN forum, I found something as script.GetType().InvokeMember("myJSFunctionName", BindingFlags.Instance | BindingFlags.InvokeMethod | BindingFlags.Public, null, script, null);
the above line throwing me an exception Unknown Name etc. I do have the definition for "myJSFunctionName" in javascript and I got the script object from the document object.
Select Item In CascadingDropDown Via JavaScript And Invoke Update?

EDIT:
I can select my desired item in the first dropdownlist. The problem is however, that new values based on that selected item (it is a CascadingDropDown, remember?) don't show in the second dropdown so I can't select anything there. I would need to somehow invoke the update method of the second dropdown manually.

simply my code will call ChangeMask() function to do these changes when the check box change.

i'm using a script as follows:

and each time the update panel updates i load a new variables for the FlashFileName to display a different movie.
outside an update panel this works, but inside the script doesn't run, i have read on other posts that there is an issue with running javascript inside an updatepanel.
AJAX :: Unable To Cascading Dropdown When Changing Value With A Javascript Event
Mar 15, 2011I'm back with my CascadingDropdown problems.
This one must be the last but not the less annoying.
I have a set of dropdowns ruled by 3 CascadingDropDowns extenders.
I would like to change the value of these dropdowns by javascript.
This works for the parent dropdown but not for the others.
Here is the javascript code used :
$find(element_name).set_SelectedValue(valeur,valeur);
$find(element_name)._onParentChange(null,true); // still wonder what are the parameters for...
This code does not give me any error but nothing change on display.
The strangest thing is that when I check the value of my dropdown with firebug, I get this :
<input id="Pane2_content_CONNEX_ClientState" type="hidden" name="Pane2_content$CONNEX_ClientState" value="D:::D:::">
And the value that I set is "D". But on the webpage, the dropdown displays a "A" which is the last selected value.

I am trying to access my accordian in my javascript so I can expand the first (and only) pane but whenever I do that I get a page error before the page loads "Object reference not set to an instance of an object'
The name of my accordian is "myAccordian". and the accordion is inside a gridview.
Just for testing I did the $find on my gridview (not the accordion) and that worked fine,

First Invoke Server Side Code Then Client Side Script Without Using AJAX?
May 18, 2010in a form i have a buttoin, when click both OnclientClick and postback should happen. on clicking the "Email" button a client side "mailto" tag should do the work and pull a new message window on the client's machine.
whereas, the email addresses should be invoked by the post back. so , when clicking the button the server side post should happen and on return the client side script should be invokded with the values read during post back, and populate all the email addresses.
i need know how to first do a server hit take the values and then execute the client script with those values without using AJAX

I think wizard control making here matter. As i started my firebug and review the generated html it assign the Id dynamically to those controls which are inside the wizard. thats why javascript unable to find the expected control . eg for txtAmount text box which is inside the wizard control getting name as :
ctl00_ContentPlaceHolder1_Wizard1_txtAmount
but certainly i would not prefer to use this generated Id. So is there any remedy to find control inside the wizard control and get - set values ?

Is it possible for me to use this? There is a .dll and a .js included in the package, but I have no clue where to start since this isn't a ASP.net project for me. I can't find any documentation on this library.

Jun 1, 2010I am using VS 2008 for development of a web application and IE 7.
The website as usually has some java script and some server side code files (different layers).
For some reason when I start the application in the debug mode (by hitting F5), the break points in the JS are not hit. I get the usual error as no symbols are loaded. But the break points in the CS files in the layers are hit.
If I use (CTLR + F5) and then attach the IE process to debug, then I am able to hit the break points in the JS file. But in this scenario I cant debug the CS files (I presume this is the expected bahaviour).
EDIT: In the IE (properties dialog), 'disable debugging' are unchecked.
why in the F5 mode I am not able to hit the debug points. The same used to work in the different machine not sure what is wrong in this one.

Currently I m developing a web page which holds a grivview. As one of the column needs a multiple column dropdown with soring facility, I am using ajax:popupExtender to achive that. Basically in the column i have a Panel1(label & image which mocks up has a dropdown), ajax:popupExtender, Panel1(gridview to have mutiple column). When user clicks on it the ajax:popupExtender is called & the targetpopupid which is a panel2 with gridview is called.
Here when user clicks on thePanel1, I am able to display Panel2 using ajax:popupExtender. Also, when user selects some row, I am able to close/hide the ajax:popupExtender in the code behind using cancel(). (this is done in selectItemIndexchange of panel2 grid view).
But my problem comes when user doesn't select any row & clicks back on the panel1, the ajax:popupExtender will remain open. but it should have been closed as i am trying to mock up dropdown dunctionality. how can I hide/close ajax:popupExtender when user clicks on panel1 2nd time.
Following are the different approaches I tried but nothing worked out.
1. wrote JS, & tried to add attributes of the Panel1's onclick event.
Failed: Error - Object is undefined. even though i passed a valid obj from code behind.

Visual Studio :: Unable To Put Breakpoints On Client Side JavaScript Code
Mar 20, 2010I am using VS2008, SP1. I am unable to put breakpoints in my client side javascript code. Wherever I try to put the breakpoint, I am getting the message: "This is not a valid location to put the breakpoint". I have the js intellisense working fine. I also unchecked the two "Disable Debugging" checkboxes on IE. Due to this problem, I am unable to debug the js in VS 2008.
