Selecting Record Based On Domain Url And Email Comparison
Oct 4, 2010
I want to limit the selecting of data records to only the user who created the record, OR a users who's email address belongs to the domain of the record being edited. So, if the producer has a value in the URL of "[URL]" and their email address in the Membership is [URL] they will be able to see the record.
I have the following table:
Table - Producer
Field: ProducerID
Field: ItemUserID
Field: URL
I have figured out how to select based on the ItemUserID (see code below), but I don't know how to compair the email address values of URL and the Membership.
protected void SqlDataSource1_Selecting(object sender, SqlDataSourceSelectingEventArgs e)
{
if (Page.User.Identity.IsAuthenticated)
{
//get id of user logged in
e.Command.Parameters["@ItemUserID"].Value = Membership.GetUser().ProviderUserKey;
}
}
how to code my requirements?

able to validate any email address based on the domain. For example, the system says anybody with a microsoft.com email address can create an account. Here is my code so far, it doesn't appear to work.
If Not Regex.IsMatch(tbEmailAddress.Text.Trim, "^([0-9a-zA-Z]([-.w]*[0-9a-zA-Z])*@" + mySetting.EmailDomain)

I know how to do a simple grid view to show info, but with NO fancy stuff.
1) How can I click a row(not a field) and get the data for a specific field in a row ?
2) how can I put an image <img into a field of the grid view
3) How can I put a linkbutton in a field and have it run codebehind on a specific value in a field from that row.
4) I assume I can pass values to the row with visible = false, and use them in the above requests

I am trying to reconstruct a date/time period from five data elements Year, StartMonth, StartDate, EndMonth, EndDate If the event starts on June 5 and ends on June 6, 2010 - The label would read June 5 thru 6, 2010. If the event starts on June 30 and ends on July 2, 2010 - the Label would read June 30 thru July 2, 2010. and if the event starts on June 5 and ends on June 5, 2010 - The label would read June 5, 2010. I've tried a few variations without success. This one comes closest to what I'm aiming for.

I'm trying to select a random record from my database and display the details of the record on screen. The table I am using is the aspnet_Users table which as I'm sure you all know holds the details of users. After a bit of googling, I found the following code:-
[Code]....
I've built my page and I get no errors which is a great start I just can't seem to figure out how to then display the results of this query on the page. I just want to display the username for the record that is selected.

I'm trying to figure out some alternate ways of dealing with a smaller subsets of records from a larger set of records. This would be to increase performance and make it easier for the user to navigate, as opposed to trying to navigate a really large unwieldy record set. I know of a few ways a user can select a record from a record set. Selecting from a Grid View, drop down list, list box are some the first ones that come to mind. Another way I've seen, I think it was done with a repeater or User Control, is to list all of the letters in the alphabet as links and then only return the records that correspond to the letter that was selected.
It could also be done to allow the user to search by last name, first letter of the last name or some other similar method. I'm curious if there are any other ways of doing this. Does anyone know any other techniques that would create a better user experience when selecting a record or subset of records from a large record set?

As I understand the "gridview" control has a select link that can be enabled, I am fairly new to web development but what I was hoping to do was to click on the select link and then have the record that I have selected display on a seperate webpage. Is this relatively easy to do? Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I have a problem. On the one domain [URL] save employees in another domain [URL] save other employees. What is the best solution for this? Do I need to save each table id_domain?
Example:
Table: tbl_domainname
ID, domainname
1, [URL]
2, [URL]
Then, in each table ID_domene I save?
tbl_employees:
ID, ID_domain, firstname
1 1 firstname1
2 1 firstname2
3 2 firstname1000
Is there any better way to do this?

I have set up an email function where a user of my website is able to send an email from the webpage including subject field and email body this allows the user that is logged in to select an email address from a drop down menu, once the email send button is clicked this will send an email to whatever email address in the dropdown menu has been selected. I want to be able to incorporate the option to send to multiple contacts such as a class list. I have set up a grid view that pulls information from the database this shows the contacts name, email address and also has a check box column.
I have set up a select all for the checkbox; I want to set up that if a checkbox is selected then the email will be sent to that person in question, so they could send an email to one, many or all users. Here is the vb code for on the email send button at the moment. I know that it has to do with the myMessage.To.Add(TxtBxEmail.Text). But instead of selecting TxtBxEmail.Text that contains the one email address from the drop down menu. I wish to be able to select any email addresses from the grid view that have been selected. This is in VS 2010 VB.
Code:
Imports System.Data
Imports System.Data.SqlClient
Imports System.Web.Configuration
Imports System.IO
Imports System.Web.UI.DataVisualization.Charting
Imports System.Net.Mail
[Code] ....

I'll admit that I'm not the best at SQL, but what I have is a database that has different podcasts in it. We have 3 locations, so each podcast contains three columns, one for each location. In each column is the date it was shown at each location, or null if it wasn't shown there. Most of the time, I'm selecting podcasts for a specific location, which is easy enough:
[Code]....
But what if I want to select them all? I want "Date" to always be the Hudson location, but if Hudson is null, I want it to be the date of the location it was shown at: AuroraDate or StowDate.

I am creating an application with html using vb as the back end. Microsoft Visual Studio is the application I am using.
My question: I have two drop down boxes...one called department, the other program. When a department is selected, I want the program dropdown to only display the programs that are associated with the department chosen. I have found several different codes to do this but nothing has worked so far.

What is the best way to do the above? Basically i have a drop down list box with a list of names pulled from a database. When someone selects a name i would then like to populate two further boxes with the persons Login ID and Email address which are held on the same DB. I have currently been using Combox1_selected index change and then running a select query on the database to fill in the other fields - unfortuntly this is too slow. There must be a better way then this? I will also need to put the values in a DB in a later stage so will need to be able to retrieve these values.
As an infopath developer this can be done easily on InfoPath using a filter - is there anything similar in ASP.net

I am having a staff table which contain staff information on it. To search staff information from the table, I want to prefer filter style. For example in the select query I want to display staff information according to three criterias. Select staff information from all sections, Select staff information from a given section, select staff information by a given Name. All these selects must be performed in a single select statement. Suppose,
SELECT * FROM StaffDetailsTbl
WHERE SectionID = CASE WHEN @SectionFilter IS NULL THEN [SELECT ALL]
ELSE SectionID = @SectionFilter
and Name = CASE WHEN @NameFilter IS NULL THEN [SELECT ALL]
ELSE Name Like '%@NameFilter%'
Where Declared variables are parameterized stored procedure values retrieved from the user.

I have a gridview, based on thsi datasource:
[Code]....
Using a dropdownlist, I can filter (by changing datasource) the results based on customer names in a dropdownlist. This datasource, working perfectly, looks like this:
[Code]....
Now, using a textbox and a ajax calendar, I would like to be able to filter on the date as well, but my datasource so far:
[Code]....
doesn't work very good. In some case sit doesnt show anything, in onther situations - with 10 records for a given date, it only shows one.
Question one: How do I make the last datasource work? Its probably - again-again - something with the datetime formats, but for the life of me, I can't see how to do.
Question two: The Ideal solution would be using the first datasource, SqlDataSourceAllLoads, and then be able to filter the results with filterexpressions/parameters, but again, how? The filterparameters would origin from a DropDownListKunder, matching the tblDeliveredInfo.deliveryInfo_FirmaNavn as seen in the second datasource, while the date comes from the textbox txtStartDate (databinding fired by a button).

Does anyone check the domain of an email address as part of their verification steps? eg. Confirm that gmail.com exists if the user specified blah@gmail.com as their address.
I should note that in my webapp an existing user can forward invites to their friends. I have no need to verify those invites at all. Rather, I just want to warn my user if a typo etc. may be sending an invite to the wrong person. Is this even worthwhile to do?

I'm trying to extract the domain name from an email address. For example if an email address is info@mydomain.com i want to extract 'mydomain' from the string.
I have some C# code which does this:
[Code]....
This works fine - except if a user has an email address which contains a dot '.' (e.g. fname.lname@mydomain.com) then it throws the following error:
Length cannot be less than zero.Parameter name: length
Line 29: int startIndex = strEmail.IndexOf("@");Line 30: int endIndex = strEmail.IndexOf(".") - startIndex;Line 31: string domain = strEmail.Substring(startIndex + 1, endIndex - 1);
The problem is the first '.' in the email address is causing it to calculate the string from the incorrect position.
Is there a way to retify this - or does anyone know of another solution to extract the domain name from an email address?
