I'll admit that I'm not the best at SQL, but what I have is a database that has different podcasts in it. We have 3 locations, so each podcast contains three columns, one for each location. In each column is the date it was shown at each location, or null if it wasn't shown there. Most of the time, I'm selecting podcasts for a specific location, which is easy enough:
[Code]....
But what if I want to select them all? I want "Date" to always be the Hudson location, but if Hudson is null, I want it to be the date of the location it was shown at: AuroraDate or StowDate.
I am having a staff table which contain staff information on it. To search staff information from the table, I want to prefer filter style. For example in the select query I want to display staff information according to three criterias. Select staff information from all sections, Select staff information from a given section, select staff information by a given Name. All these selects must be performed in a single select statement. Suppose,
SELECT * FROM StaffDetailsTbl WHERE SectionID = CASE WHEN @SectionFilter IS NULL THEN [SELECT ALL] ELSE SectionID = @SectionFilter and Name = CASE WHEN @NameFilter IS NULL THEN [SELECT ALL] ELSE Name Like '%@NameFilter%'
Where Declared variables are parameterized stored procedure values retrieved from the user.
I am trying to make columns of a gridview invisible if they contain a space. The page contains a combo box which users can change. This causes a change in the data in the gridview. I use the following code:
[Code]....
[Code]....
What is working: On the initial page load, the correct columns are deleted. However, if the user changes the combo box, and the gridview has different data loaded into it, it cannot make visible what was previously invisible. I added the ...visible = true line to get round this, but when I load the page, it seems to get locked into a loop forever, and the page never loads - this is why the line is commented out.
This should be soooo simple, but it's making my brain smoke. I've tried writing the results on whether there is a space in the cell to an array, and then using that to make the columns invisible. I've tried doing this in different events, but it always has the same problem.
I suspect that if I can find out how to reference the contents of the gridview from outside its events, it may be easier.
how can I use a "where clause" in the below stored procedure to retrieve columns and display in gridview? I have three textboxes on the form. One is for user to enter "regno" to retrieve record for a particular students, the remaining two textboxes are for "from date" and "to date" respectively so that user can select from date and to date from two calendar controls I have on the form. On selection date appears in the two textboxes so that records can be retrieved based on the selected date.
CREATE PROCEDURE [dbo].[GetAttendanceByHours] AS BEGIN

I have an emergency request that I need to sort it out very quickly as I did not notice it early :(.
I have a dropdownlist, the contnet in the gridview (sqldatasource connection) changes based on the value the user slects, say I have play1, play2 from the dropdownlist, I would like to show column1, column2 and column3 with user selects play1; show column4, column5, and clomn6 when use selects play2; the datatable actually includes all 6 columns.
I understand that I need to use something like RowCreated event, and I need to set up condition based on the dropdownlist value, but I dont really know how to.
I am creating an application with html using vb as the back end. Microsoft Visual Studio is the application I am using.
My question: I have two drop down boxes...one called department, the other program. When a department is selected, I want the program dropdown to only display the programs that are associated with the department chosen. I have found several different codes to do this but nothing has worked so far.
I want to show columns in gridview based on access rights/roles.That is i want to show parents column if there is parents login or else i want to show students column if there is students login.
I had just started with Visual Studio 2008 + VB.net. I've now designed my tables, and basic gridview functions properly. Now I'm faced with the problem of having to calculate a value based on 2 - 3 columns/data in the gridview, display the result in an existing column in the same gridview, and saving the calculated value in the datasource.I had initially created the "Total" column as a textbox displaying a manually calculated amount that is saved in the datasource. Now, I want to change the field to auto-calculate based on 2 other columns.
What is the best way to do the above? Basically i have a drop down list box with a list of names pulled from a database. When someone selects a name i would then like to populate two further boxes with the persons Login ID and Email address which are held on the same DB. I have currently been using Combox1_selected index change and then running a select query on the database to fill in the other fields - unfortuntly this is too slow. There must be a better way then this? I will also need to put the values in a DB in a later stage so will need to be able to retrieve these values.
As an infopath developer this can be done easily on InfoPath using a filter - is there anything similar in ASP.net
I want to limit the selecting of data records to only the user who created the record, OR a users who's email address belongs to the domain of the record being edited. So, if the producer has a value in the URL of "[URL]" and their email address in the Membership is [URL] they will be able to see the record.
I have figured out how to select based on the ItemUserID (see code below), but I don't know how to compair the email address values of URL and the Membership.
protected void SqlDataSource1_Selecting(object sender, SqlDataSourceSelectingEventArgs e) { if (Page.User.Identity.IsAuthenticated) { //get id of user logged in e.Command.Parameters["@ItemUserID"].Value = Membership.GetUser().ProviderUserKey; } }
Using a dropdownlist, I can filter (by changing datasource) the results based on customer names in a dropdownlist. This datasource, working perfectly, looks like this:
[Code]....
Now, using a textbox and a ajax calendar, I would like to be able to filter on the date as well, but my datasource so far:
[Code]....
doesn't work very good. In some case sit doesnt show anything, in onther situations - with 10 records for a given date, it only shows one.
Question one: How do I make the last datasource work? Its probably - again-again - something with the datetime formats, but for the life of me, I can't see how to do.
Question two: The Ideal solution would be using the first datasource, SqlDataSourceAllLoads, and then be able to filter the results with filterexpressions/parameters, but again, how? The filterparameters would origin from a DropDownListKunder, matching the tblDeliveredInfo.deliveryInfo_FirmaNavn as seen in the second datasource, while the date comes from the textbox txtStartDate (databinding fired by a button).
I have to come up with a way to get data from a SQL server table given it's month
There's a smalldatetime type field called "date" in the "events" table and a field from it looks like this:
29/01/2003 17:00:00
It should be one among those that appear in the gridview when I select jan/03 in a given DropDownList control in ASP.NET.
What would be the best way to do this? Assuming I only want to go as long as 10 years to the past, wouldn't making a dictionary be a good way?
How do I change it so the top month is always the current, and each month another options appeaars in the dropdown ?
It should be a common issue, so that shall not be a trick, but I want a good and clean way of doing this, and (since I'm new to asp.net) I myself would come up with something messy after a long time trying.
So what I want is:
1) Select
2) Best way of populating DropDownList (with the current month always at the top)
3) Best way to bind the DropDownList user-friendly way of writing months to the select query-friendly way of writing datetimes
I basically have a series of tables from one database that have an identical structure thus making retrieval of all records fairly easy (I just use a UNION ALL statement). However I need a list of values from another table within a different database that contains information regarding the group of the data.
I so far have the following:
SELECT Table1.* FROM Table1 UNION ALL SELECT Table2.* FROM Table2 UNION ALL SELECT Table3.* FROM Table3 UNION SELECT Database.dbo.SRFILE.SR_GROUP FROM Database.dbo.SRFILE INNER JOIN Database.dbo.SRFILE.SRONUMBER = Table1.Incidentx
I keep receiving a unable to parse message however all I need to retreive is the SR_GROUP value but just don't know the correct syntax. Is it actually possible to do this as the structure of SRFILE is not the same as Table1/2/3.
The end goal is to be able to reference our address book, and give the user the ability to select a Manager, which then in turn would return all the results for all the users under that manager. This information is stored in our Exchange servers address book. ie when you select on a person's name in Outlook, then Organization, you get their manager, so when you select the Manager on this site, I want it to return the results for all of his/her members.
I have a site that has a dropdown list of users who've entered data into a DB. This list is populated with a User's alias when they enter data. This DB of data (including Users' aliases) contains data from users in multiple groups, and I am trying to figure out how I can access our Outlook exchange.
What i am trying to achieve is that there are 7 columns in my db table. one is primary key and rest 6 are integer columns. Now my application will allow user to input 6 values. I want to compare 6 values entered by user to those 6 integer columns and if in any row 3 or more columns match user's input Primary key of that table is returned..
I have tried using queries, cursor, nested loops and i am still unable to achieve my results..
DB Table Structure.. I am inputting 2,3,7,11,45,65. Number of returned rows should be 5. eg..
I have a database table containing scripts for plays/dramas. The scripts can be categorized under 'Theatre and Education', 'Plays for Young People' or both (by using bools to determine whether they belong to said categories);
scriptID: int theatreAndEducation:bit playsForYoungPeople: bit[code]....
