State Management :: Datagrid Values Not Being Retained?
Jan 6, 2011
In a aspx page I am displaying records in the datagrid control. I have added one more column to the datagrid in my aspx page and this column is the template column which contains the checkbox control for each of the records. Then I have two buttons a) Display and b) submit
When i click Display button I get all the records in the datagrid from the database(about 700 rows). Then when I click the checkbox for a few rows and click the Submit button then it redirects to another aspx page (i have given response.redirect) . But sometimes when i click a few rows and then click the submit button the screen goes completely blank and it even does not redirect to the next page as specified(in the browser URL the initial page name is only shown).
I have a website for a simple game. When people sign in their Player ID is stored in a Session variable. I have integrated SMS payments so that my players can buy credits to use to play. This is where the problems start:
To buy credits, players are presented with an .aspx page that holds an IFRAME of the SMS payment proviers form. A code is entered, and the IFRAME POSTS to a URL on the providers server. It is then redirected back to an URL on my server(www.XXX.com/process.aspx), where I handle the results (i.e adds credits to th players account if the payment was successfull).
However, the session dies on return.
I tried with cookies, and saves the player ID in a cookie, but when upon return to www.XXX.com/process.aspx I cannot read the cookie? I'm checking for if (cookie == null) and it evaluates to TRUE, so the player is redirected to an error page.
How come the cookie cant be read? Is it because the POST is coming from an outside URL? And, what about when I do it with a session variable? Same thing there?
In my page, I need to enable a text box when user click on check box(checked). I have used javascript for this. It works fine but when there is postback for the page, the textbox becomes disabled again although the check box is checked. But the value in textbox still appears. Is there any method to retain the enabled state for text box on postback other than using hidden values?
I have a clear button and a textbox in an aspx page. I set the session variable in this page as
String str = Textbox1.Text;
Session["TypeIds"] = str;
and I clear the sessions in a clear button event as
Session["TypeIds"]=null;.
Then when the user types some value in the textbox ,on Response.Redirect on another aspx page, the session variable returns null values.It does not retain its session state. The session state has to be maintained in the next page. Is it because this clear button event and setting explicitly to null creates this problem?
i have a requirement where i need to pass values from page1 to page3. In page1 i have 3 textbox and 2 drobdownlist and one button named NEXT. In page2 i have 10 textboxs and button named Next button. In page3 i have 10 textboxs and Submit button. when Next button in page1 is clicked it goes to page2 and then to page3. In page3 i need to submit all the values of page1 and page2 to database. Is there any way to pass all the values of page1 and page2 to page3 without using sessions
I am learning how to use profiles. My profile properties are defined in web.config and wish to add selected checkboxlist values to user profiles.TextBoxes and RadioButtonLists all seem to work fine, but not my CheckBoxList values.How do I go about making this work?
In my webapp page i load a custom user control, this uc loads data from an xml file in a JSGrid. All this works fine and uses callbacks. The uc is the callbackhandler and thus implements the icallbackhandler interface. Now, i gave this uc some properties, like the path to the xml file. After each callback the uc loses the values of its properties. Currently i'm including the path in each callback itself so i can load the file each time i need it, but this isn't the good way i think.
I tried solving this with viewstate but it doesn't work, a callback also seems to erase the values of the viewstate.
Is there a way to keep these values stored in the uc instance? Maybe a way to disable the erasing for each callback?
Also each callback contains "Changes", this has al the changes that were made to the grid. So when all the changes were made in the grid, i want to get these changes in my page that contains the uc in order to decide ther what to do with this data.
how to pass the value from one page to another page in asp.net with out Using State Management Concepts? Like 1. cookies 2.Sessiion 3. QueryStrings.With out using the above should pass the values..
when designing E-commerce website or shopping cart we call session value from login and we use it anywhere we need,but i want to know how session values are remembered and retrieved??i mean where they are stored and how it will be accessed
We are working in a web application using Session variables to store the clients ID to operate with them in all app (making orders, reports, etc....) but randomly users get the client ID of another user in any moment using the application.
I have tried to solve it in a first step adding to system.web section in the web.config file this:
[Code]....
ASP.NET State Service is running in server normally, It began run just before this last change, but we have not solved the problem either with this solution.
The server is Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition SP2 32bits running IIS 6.0, and the application is made with Framework 2.0
I am having two aspx pages(Page1.aspx,Page2.aspx).I am stioring values in Session in Page1.aspx and retriving the same values from Page2.aspx.But if the session value is null I am getting an error as 'Object reference not set to an instance of an object.'Here is my code..
These are not a kind of Sesison Or QueryString so what are them for ? I can get key names and values via Request.Form.Keys and Request.Form[i] but is it another kind of passing values something like session or querystring (post and get) so what is Keys ? Post or Get values? or another type of variable handling? can some friend explain this is useful for what ? what is the obvious difference Keys against QueryString and Session ? are they cookies or what ?
I have populated a gridview with the following code
string WhereClause = query; string OrderBY = "PostedOn desc"; int PageIndex = gvJobPosting.PageIndex; int PageSize = gvJobPosting.PageSize;
[Code]....
But on int PostID = JobID[0].JobPostingID; i'm getting the error NullReferenceException Object reference not set to an instance of an object how do I set this so it takes the jobpostingID out of the session and loads it into the variable so i can use it as the parameter to call teh stored procedure
If I have two "webroles" (azure), that are NOT using a shared custom state provider, is the "Session.SessionID" be the same in both?It would make sense ,considering that both get the same cookie (because are in the same domain) and have the same machineKey, but I'm not sure
In my website the page viewstate values in hidden are very large.So i wish to store this values into another methods(session,files etc).so please advice me to some methods..
