State Management :: Application State And Session State?

Oct 2, 2010

User Interface: 2 Labels; 1 Buttons

Requirements: Create a Web Page in ASPx that will do the following:

1)One label will provide a count of how many times Button 1 has been clicked in the current session.

2)One label will provide a count of how many times Button 1 has been clicked by all users of the application. The Application Code for the Button should start at 100 (set this in the Global.asax file). this is what i have so far but i cant seem to get the application state to work properly.

State Management :: Session State Expiration After Application Pool Recycle?

Nov 1, 2010

All we have a global ships position tracking website which runs smoothly until IIS application pool recycles. When there is workerprocess recycling looks like session state expires as a result i loose all session data and when customer clicks refresh button he is redirected to login page.

In web.config Session state mode is set to InProc so i changed it to State Server but to my luck i have MAP object which is not serialiazable which is causing the maps from not appearing on the website.I tried adding serializable attribute to the object class but still not succesfull. Our website is accessed by our customers whose count is more than 1000.

Changing the session state mode from InProc to StateServer can really slow down the response time so
Is it good to go further fix the serailizable issues and move to state server?.

Is there any way I can retain my session data when application pool recyles?..

Stopping Application pool from recycling may not be a good idea considering health factor of web server.

State Management :: Application State Is Not Cleared When Restart The Browser?

Feb 23, 2011

I am very new to asp.net. I developed one application. In that I have two pages. First page contains Application.Get() in page load event, here I read this Application variable, initially it returns NULL. If it is NULL, I make some buttons invisible. Then I jump to second page, in that page contains Application.Set(). Again I jump from second page to first page, this time Application.Get() is not NULL, I make some buttons visible. This is ok, if I execute the program in .net software.

But, when I publish this same program to web server like IIS, it is not working properly. After publishing very first time the first page returns NULL after that it doesnt return NULL even I closed the browser. I dont know why. In program, I used 2.0 framework. IIS also has 2.0 framework. Please clear this issue.

I am not entirely sure what is causing it. Its completley intermitent. I am storing all the details of a user filling in a form in a structure, and then assigning that structure to a session variable. This means if they page back, and then page forward again, I can pre-populate the form with the details they have already filled in for their conveinience by using the above code snippet. It appears that it works for a good minute, but if I leave the browser alone any longer than roughly 60 seconds, and then try and page forward to the form again, the exception will fire. While writing this post, the exception has occured in again in firefox, but interestingly, Google Chrome doesn't seem to have this problem. It looks like I can leave chrome alone for as long as I want and it will still work.

State Management :: How To Block The UserName After 3 Invalid Password Attempts

Jun 17, 2010

Iam very new to this forums as well as ASP dot Net...i was succesful to write this code in 3 to 4 ways but im not getting using the below method.

here it goes...

Task Name : Disable User Name after 3 invalid Password Attempts using "SESSIONS" & "VIEW STATE" with SQL Server as Database i want code in "C#"

In Detail :

When i Enter a User name and Password correctly and click Login it will Re-Direct to Destination Page.

But when i enter same User Name but invalid password 3 times then the user name should be blocked (After The User Name has been blocked the user will send an email to Admin that my user name has been blocked so Reset etc etc and the Admin will Reset The new Password)

Here Create the User Name & Password In SQL Table Directly. As We give the user name & password to users...also create another column in Table for an integer so that when it hits to 3 it should block the user name and also another column for status.

For Counting the values till 3 donot use static integers..instead use SESSIONS also use VIEWSTATE

State Management :: State Management And Page Navigation?

Nov 18, 2010

i have a form on page1.aspx with several controls (textbox, dropdownlist, etc).on Page1 PageLoad event i load data from database and performe databinding. From Page1 a user can, by clicking a specific button, move to Page2.aspx to insert some details and, after saving details, he returns to page1.

if save changes are made on control on page1 before save them to db, obviously, these are lost on return from page2 (because are reloaded on pageload from db).How can i save control status between pages round trip?

State Management :: Sharing Session Information Across Sites?

Feb 3, 2011

After doing some research, I found that <sessionState> can be hosted in SQL Server allowing applications to read from the same source. Essentially my app has two sides: a WCF library and an ASP.NET MVC 3 web site, the WCF has authentication and other DB IO methods and the MVC does the display. Now, the MVC stores a value in the session and then the WCF reads it and creates another for the MVC to read later. Problem is, neither can read each others session data, they can write to the same repository but can't share.

How do I go about them sharing the same information? How can I tell <sessionState> that the session started on the MVC side is the same as the WCF side and viceversa? I've tried
