I have created a matser page with a two radio buttons, text box and a button. Whenever user sets some values to these control and clicks the button, i will navigating him from one content page to another based on the data he has entered. The problem is after the content page load, the values selected/given in the controls(radio button, text box) are getting cleared.
Is there some way to maintain the values ?
I have a script that loads diferent photo in same div on masterpage for diferent pages.
So my question is how can I know what page is currently loaded so I can use something like this:
onpageload...
Dim pageID as String
pageID = ?????????
If pageID = "default1.aspx" Then
image1.ImageUrl = "~/zagreb.jpg"
ElseIf pageID = "default2.aspx" Then
image1.ImageUrl = "~/split.jpg"
End If
maybe I can put some kind of ID on every page but how?
HTTPresponse does not help to much becouse links looks diferent every time (default.aspx?sasa , default.aspx876786 .....)
I am using a FormView and on insert I want it to be redirected to another page and take the ID of the FormView which I have just inserted so I can have page b load with the date from page a that I have just inserted
View 3 RepliesHere is my scenario.In default.aspx page user selects the country, state, city from drop down list, and store them in cache for further use. but when other user open the web site from other computer it shows the same country, state, and city selected by user 1. Is there any problem related to cache? I have stored data as following.
cache["ctryID"] = ctryID;
cache["stateID"]= stateID;
cache["cityID"]= cityID;
I want to show default country, state , city at page load of default.aspx
i want to declare a variable in page load{} as global so that i can monitor it so that it is not recreated each time
View 4 RepliesI'm using the beta version of Visual Studio 2010. I'm running my ASP.NET 4.0 website through the debugger. Whenever there is a page load (e.g. clicking on a link, a postback) the session is ended and a new session is created. This wipes out all the session variables and makes debugging impossible. How to get session variables to persist across page loads?
Is this problem unique to running ASP.NET in a test environment or unique to the beta 2 version of VS 2010?
I haveMaster Page -> ASPX page -> User ControlUser control page is contains all dynamic bind controls (e.g Repeater) depended on ASPX Page (Only one parameter say ItemNo)The problem is, if I bound user control on page load event with passing respective parameters then it's create to much view state (I checked source file and it's almost 1.5 MB)In other way if I put one textbox, and a command button and I pass required parameter on button click and load the control then page size is ok (I checked and it's < 500KB)

View 4 RepliesI have a form with a combination of dropdownlists and textboxes that I want to be able to show a user as a summary in another page before submitting to a sql server. Page 1 will have a verify button which will then pass the dropdown and text box info to page 2 where end users will be able to either submit the page or cancel the action. What's the best way to pass the values from page 1 to page 2?

In the second page I do have previous button which comes to the first page. My problem is that the dropdown values are not getting preserved.
Here is my code for the First page

i want to pass multiple selected checkbox values to another page with session.

I have a generic handler in which I fill up a Session variable. I implemented the IRequiresSessionState interface, so it shouldn't be a problem.
In a given page, I want to display that value, but it seems like the value is always empty. Is it because the session that is accessed and written to in the handler isn't the same one that is used on this page?
In the handler, I used context.Session["EID"] = "somevalue";
edit: i found out what the issue is but I do not know how to solve it. It's because I have this Java applet which reads out an eID, calls the handler to store the data, but the session used by the applet is not the same as the session used by the browser... so how could I exchange this data in a safe way?
I have a webpage which updates user information onto to the database, whenever they click the save buttonsince am using session variables in my page, data in the session variables is getting lost after 20mins if the session is idle, in order to keep the session alive am using the refresh option for every 5mins, after that the session variables are not lostNow my problem is whenever the page refreshes the user is losing all the data which is not saved, by means while the user is working on the page during the refresh all the textbox values are lostAny one has any solution for this? , can we extend the session variable timeout ?i tried this changed the session timeout to 60min in web.config as well, but still the session variable values are not persisting
View 5 RepliesI wanted to know the best practice for caching data. Say I have some control example a dropdown list which is populated from my db. Now this dropdown is global and used across many pages. I was thinking of not going to database everytime to fetch data for this dropdown and put the result in Cache. And then populate this dropdown from cache. Is this a good practice or if there is another approach. Can I store my datareader in cache and then use it globally. Also could I do this in application start event?
View 4 RepliesI have a clear button and a textbox in an aspx page. I set the session variable in this page as
String str = Textbox1.Text;
Session["TypeIds"] = str;
and I clear the sessions in a clear button event as
Session["TypeIds"]=null;.
Then when the user types some value in the textbox ,on Response.Redirect on another aspx page, the session variable returns null values.It does not retain its session state. The session state has to be maintained in the next page. Is it because this clear button event and setting explicitly to null creates this problem?
Our ASP.NET App uses ASP State Session Management and has been rebuilt about 2 years ago [With .NET Framework 2.0]. We are currently in .NET framework 3.5 and have moved to SQL Server 2008 - but continue to use the same ASPState database. The State database has been upgraded to SQL Server 2008. Since then we have are seeing timouts/locks on ASPStateTempSessions table. I am wondering if we have to rebuild this database from scratch with some newer scripts?
View 2 RepliesI have upgraded our system from .NET 1.1 to .NET 4.0. I also had to update the ASP Session State database to version 2 by running the following command in the command window.
aspnet_regsql.exe -S localhostSQL2005 -d ASPState -ssadd -sstype c -E
Is there any way that I can configure the MSI setup project to check the ASP.NET Session State and install version 2 if needed?
I read you can set matching keys in web.config files across a cluster.
But does it have to match across all the seperate apps on the cluster or is it in pairs?
IE... app1 on both clustered servers match or all apps on both servers have the same key?
Using ASP.NET with framework 4.0.30319, changes to the ControlStyle of a ButtonField in a GridView are not saved in Viewstate. Examining the source code suggests that this is because DataControlField.LoadViewstate does not load viewstate for the ControlStyle.
It's possible to work around this by overriding SaveViewState in the closest container and saving the state there.
i have a form on page1.aspx with several controls (textbox, dropdownlist, etc).on Page1 PageLoad event i load data from database and performe databinding.From Page1 a user can, by clicking a specific button, move to Page2.aspx to insert some details and, after saving details, he returns to page1.
if save changes are made on control on page1 before save them to db, obviously, these are lost on return from page2 (because are reloaded on pageload from db).How can i save control status between pages round trip?
My servers are behind F5 load balancer, I wanna use HttpRuntime.Cache in my web application but I didn't find out the way for to use that method for those using network load balancing server. Or can we store that HttpRuntime.Cache to sql server like the session we do in web.config file?
