User Controls :: Simple User Comments Form Using Database
Nov 18, 2013
Have a simple Comments form syntax with CSS, so that  a person can leave his/her name, e-mail, subject and comments. the form that can write under the question when Reply is pressed by the person.
I am working in a school and we recently installed a new server running WinServer 2008R2. I want to be able to point people to a URL on our intranet and have them fill out a simple registration form and have this data written to a database. It would also be nice to have some data auto-populate (such as their name).
Is it overkill to set up a sharepoint server and try to do this with Access Webforms? Could I use something like dotnetnuke and find a module that works? Or how about options for writing custom forms?
I'm trying to get the comments section for a user, to populate a text box which can be updated. I'm getting the "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" error. Why is this occurring?
hows the best way to display comments/user data from a db using mvc?do we just do our own for loop and manually display it or? will doing it this way cause paging problems in the future? any best methods or practice?
I want to compare a user-entered value on a Web form against an array of existing values from the database, and do so on blur. If match, then show error. Scenario is to stop user from needlessly filling out other fields if this record has already been entered.
how to trigger this? What parts are client-side, what parts are server-side? Can I do it without Javascript?
I'm new here and really, new to asp.net except the very basic things.
I am trying to create a very simple (I think simple) web form with five textboxes and three dropdown boxes and one submit button. The user enters information in the textbox fields and selects from the dropdown lists (which are populated from the database), hits enter and the database runs the query and returns information on a separate page (or can it return to the same page via panels?) The original page returned to a separate page using server transfer.
I have this page already existing in asp but feel that it would be much better served in asp.net.
Can someone point me to a post where I would guess this has been answered many times?
How do I submit the new data to the database, update the records and return the query?
I have a Web User Control I created for authentication. The web user control is inside the box below. Clicking any button (1 or 2) below works correct as it goes to the correct c# button click event in the code behind file. If I press enter on fields a or b it goes to the correct callback (button1's) if I press enter on field c it still goes to button1's callback, not button2's
How can I give my web user control a nice self contained for and view state etc, so it wont mess with the remainder of the page's form?
I would like users to upload a profile picture when they register, and to then show that picture in a picture box control when they are logged in based  on that specific user.
Our application lets the administrator create new users. Since the administrator is logged in, I have set Logincreateduser = false so that the administrator is not logged out even after creating the new user.
The problem is :I need the userid of the newly created user to store additional details of the user in another database table. I see that i can get the username using Createuserwizard1.username; but how do I get the userID?
i am working in asp.net and csharp, we have 10 user, but certain user only need to put dataentry. how to enable and disable based on the user to access certain form ,like add, modify view options.
actually i came across this senario for new project where userstatus must change to log off when ever he do fallowing activity.I have maintain user status when he log in to web based system.Activities are if
1.user click log off
2.or user click browser close button or close brwoser tab.
3.or Fource fully shut down his Pc,I am able to get first 2 but not the last one.I googled it but not get any satified ans for that.I m looking for guidens for this.
I want to create a simple user registration form with First / Last name, email, and password. We have used captcha and email verification in the past to ward off bots, but is there another way without using those techniques? I thought about encrypting the field ID names so that they aren't names username, password, etc. we tried openID, but 1% of our users had an ID they could use.
I have a form that contains a number of user controls (partial views, as in System.Web.Mvc.ViewUserControl), each with their own view models, and some of those user controls have nested user controls within them. I intended to reuse these user controls so I built up the form using a hierarchy in this way and pass the form a parent view model that contains all the user controls' view models within it.For example:
Parent Page (with form and ParentViewModel) -->ChildControl1 (uses ViewModel1 which is passed from ParentViewModel.ViewModel1 property) -->ChildControl2 (uses ViewModel2 which is passed from ParentViewModel.ViewModel2 property) -->ChildControl3 (uses ViewModel3 which is passed from ViewModel2.ViewModel3 property)
My question is how do I retrieve the view data when the form is submitted? It seems the view data cannot bind to the ParentViewModel:public string Save(ParentViewModel viewData)...
as viewData.ViewModel1 and viewData.ViewModel2 are always null. Is there a way I can perform a custom binding?
Ultimately I need the form to be able to cope with a dynamic number of user controls and perform an asynchronous submission without postback. I'll cross those bridges when I come to them but I mention it now so any answer won't preclude this functionality.
i have created loing form and create user form. then how to apply login rights..? i have 2 types of user. admin and normal user admin can move and use all pages while normal user can acces limited pages.
