I have an .aspx page with multiple .ascx (User Controls on it). One of the User controls is very slow in loading (calls a very slow webservice for the data.). Now, my question is how to render all the controls on the page (so the User can view those) and have a rotating icon for this control (slow one) (till it loads). I know, I need to bring AJAX into picture, but any clarification on that would help as I will be new to AJAX programming.
Currently the page load slow. I am thinking of using JQuery load and render List<A> and List<B> separately and asynchronously. Can I still use MVVM pattern? Or I had to create to controller methods returning List<A> and List<B> separately?]
I have a gridview in which I use HoverMenuExtender to display gridview's respective row value. It is working very fine in my development PC. But after deployment of this web project in hosting site, this hovermenuextender displaying it PopupControl in webpage for very long time in slow internet connection.
i hit a case when my page loading is very very slow. I have find out that my page is slow for no reason. The read data process from database is fast and all the server code execute quite fast. The problem is the page loading process is slow, very slow. I am thinking one of the possible cause is jquery itself.
I am developing an application in asp.net mvc 2.0.In my view page i am rendering five partial views. While loading view page it very slow with partial views.if i remove the partial pages it loading very fast. How to improve the performace of partail pages while rendering.
when i bind first time page (10) records then primary properly bind with records and when my next 10 records load using lazy loading then the primary key not change it shows 1st records primary key
check the below code in which i am assigning assetid (primary key) but its not assigning properly...
function OnSuccess(response) { //alert('testing'); var xmlDoc = $.parseXML(response.d); var xml = $(xmlDoc); pageCount = parseInt(xml.find("PageCount").eq(0).find("PageCount").text()); var customers = xml.find("AssetSummary");
I'm using partial page loads off a webservice and was curious if there was a way to load a control through the .asmx file when the part loads. I tried:
Control CallDetailsControl = this.LoadControl("~/mycontrol.ascx");
I have update panel on the page to avoid postback and placed a dropdownlist control within that update panel. DrodownList is filled with Category names and also it's autopostback set to True.
Now whenever dropdownlist index change's on select, untill page loads complete data it should show mesage as "Loading.... in center and middle of the page and background should become bit transparent". And when page load completely with data then that background and message should get disappear.
I have a user control that is common to the application. It searchs for lakhs of Items in one go from the db and I set the selected Items in a list in a session to pass on to the pages that use it. Hence making the application a tad slower. The gridview that contains the Items should have sorting, page indexing. What according to u,I should do to enhance the application's performance ?
I am working on a pretty heavy page in an application and the scenario is:
There is a Tab control in the page, having four tabs. These tabs individually consist of different user controls and other asp controls. Most of these usercontrols in turn consist of other user controls. Every user control contains huge javaScript functions which validate them, populate controls and call web services.
What I am trying to achieve is to load only the Tab and its user controls on the page load and when the user clicks on a specific tab, load its contents (User controls) dynamically. Once that is done, I am setting the tab's postback to false to prevent loading it again once loaded.
I tried to achieve this by making the user controls in the other tabs - visible="false" in the markup and loading them from server side on some specific event. But that causes the javaScript functions in those user controls to give errors ('Object expected') when I go to that tab.
If I set the user controls in the other tabs to visible true, then no matter what; the page life cycle goes to each registered control and loads every subsequent control in that web user control which makes the main page slow (on loading and every postback).
The position of the Tab and the inner user controls is fixed. Although I am taking care that no data is populated unnecessarily on the page and user controls on hidden tabs, I dont want the tabs to get loaded altogether unless requested. If I load them on runtime, their corresponding javaScripts start giving errors.. note that I am not generating the controls on runtime, they exist in the page design. I just dont want to load them dynamically
i have used some Ajax control toolkit in my web project. but the problem is that my web pages are loading very slowly because of ajax control toolkit, when i remove this web pages are working very fine and fast. I am using vs 2012 and framework 4.5..
I have an application that runs perfectly fine and fast in IE 7. There are certain pages in the application that use the AlwaysVisibleExtender control.
However, when I run the app in IE 8, the same exact pages seem to lock up for roughly 5 seconds before they render completely. What's weird is that the page shows all the contents except for the alwaysvisibleextender and relating panel. Then after the 5 seconds the panel shows. During that 5 seconds the page cannot be navigated or scrolled. This is not really acceptable.
have a website with MasterPages, on load master page has many database roundtrips and logics implemented. Now, if move to one page to another, the MasterPage get reloaded and all the above mentioned procedures processed again, which again takes a lot of time and as a result my website's response is very slow. For eaxmple, once the default page is loaded, all the child pages can load within the centent area (in ajax style).
tell me some workaround to optimize the site so that it doesn't this procedures repetitively.
I was wondering if anyone could tell me why any .aspx page that I drop an Ajax HTML editor on will then become painfully slow to load and update. And more importantly is there anything that can be done about it to speed it up?I am using VS2010 and targeting ASP.Net 4.0 web application and I am using the AjaxControlToolkit version 4.1.40412.2.
How would you troubleshoot a page that is rendering slowly in ASP.NET?
This issue is happening on only specific pages with a few user controls. Other pages work fine. Tracing has clarified that the issue is happening between "Begin Render" and "End Render".
My web app has one main page, which is like a work bench. Within this work bench I have 3 placeholders that I load 3 different user controls into (only displaying one at a time). It works, and loads ok although it is very slow.
For instance; Each user control has a 'New' button. when I click this it takes anywhere from 3-10 seconds just to refresh the page, and display all the original default values.
I gues there is a lot of info being sent/returend to/from the server (The main workbench page, and the usercontol), but it still seems to be taking way too long. I have a customer using my application, and they have raised the issue, and have even experienced delays of around 30 seconds for simple tasks.
I have walked through my code with the debugger in vs2010 and nothing seems to take a long time. I have also used Firbug to try and find out what is going on, along with setting Trace="true" on the page to try and resolve the issue. Its all just numbers to me, I have no idea what is going on.
Situation: I have a drop down list which I need to pass on to a webservice on button click. I am using Sys.Net.WebServiceProxy.Invoke to make webservice call.
Everything is happening inside a usercontrol which loads on runtime using dynamicpopulate extender.
I get following error:
Sys.InvalidOperationException: Cannot serialize object with cyclic reference within child properties.
Situation: Usercontrol also has a listview which is bound to dataset. However on calling listview.DataBind() in side the webservice method.
I get following error:
The ListView control 'ProductsListView' does not have a naming container. Ensure that the control is added to the page before calling DataBind.
There is no problem when call to service method is parameter less and listitem is not bound.
Wasn't quite sure where to post this, seems like the issues could be any number of things, so I'm trying to keep it general... mods, feel free to relocate appropriately.
I am trying to build a page which will load various web user controls dynamically in response to menu selections made by the user, and then allow other interactions inside those controls (such as gridview manipulation and updates). The content page simply has a loginview, an ASP:Menu control, and an ASP:Placeholder. The placeholder is filled by the appropriate user control in response to the menu selection. Selecting a menu item causes a postback and the correct control is loaded as expected.
I realized that using dynamic loading with interactive controls would be a problem with respect to postbacks, so I added a ScriptManager to the content page and enclosed the gridview controls in the web user controls within UpdatePanels, thinking that all postbacks required by the GridView would be handled inside the UpdatePanel and not cause the parent page to refresh (which would then wipe out the dynamically loaded control). However, it does not seem to work this way. Instead, although the control containing the GridView loads correctly and displays data, when I attempt to page, edit, or select any item on the GridView, nothing happens on the first click. If I click on any item inside the control a second time, the entire page refreshes and the control and its contents disappear.
I have removed all the code inside the web user control and placed it directly into the content page to test, and everything functions correctly in that case. I think therefore that I must be missing something with how the user control is working, particularly with respect to the UpdatePanel. Is it just not possible to use an UpdatePanel to confine actions inside a user control that would otherwise cause the entire page to postback, or am I missing something somewhere?
i have a page it contains a User Control. in it we have a Button "View Tree" it will open a pop up window (contins a tree view).when we select any node in the tree the Corresponding item will be Loaded in the User Control and Close the Popup.i want to achive this With out re loading the total page. i am using VS 2008.
I know there are a number of ways to show the user that a page is loading with a visual image. What is the slickest and most effective way of doing that. I would like to use Javascript if possible.Presently I can turn on an image calling a function form pageLoad() method of Javascript, but I can't figure out a way to turn it off. Couldn't get pageUnload() to be called.
We have installed a web site written by others which is compiled with Visual Studio 2008 and hosted in Windows server 2008 R2.
The IIS connection timeout is set to 120 seconds. But for some pages, the first page loading fails with HTTP 404 error but sequential refresh can bring the page up. The same problem happens for some images which fail to load in web pages. We are not very sure it is network related issue or hosting issue.
heavy operation which takes long time to be completed in my asp.net application. I don't want to run the entire operation in one request which may result in a TimeOut error. Instead I want to invoke the operation in a separate thread and poll for the result every x seconds. How can I do this?If the operation gets completed I need to register a script in the ajax postback to hide the loading panel and show the content. However I'm not able to register new scripts and invoke it during ajax postbacks.
I have a new issue regarding the progressbar I have a page from which i am passing a parameter to CrystalReportviewer on the next page and a converting a Crystal report in to PDF .My problem is i want to show a progress bar while the page is loading (on which crystal Report Viewer is Placed) and writing a PDF file I have already place a scriptmanager Updatepanel and updateprogresbar on that page but the still the page is showing blank while loading the page
