i new to asp.net i have made a master page with some other pages in root folder then i have made a sub folder with page called staff which is restriced by a login when i run the site and click on the staff hyperlink it ask my to log in so do and it will bring me to the staff page. but it would bring the backaround image called backaround also when i click on and other link it give me an error:
RSSProducer.aspx: A page that generates RSS (XML) feeds RssConsumer.aspx: A page that retrieves the RSS feeds and displays it to the user in a repeater control. To do this I am using the System.Xml.XmlTextReader to fill a DataSet with tables based on the RSS-XML retrieved from the RSSProducePage. A table within the DataSet is bound to the repeater control.
For example, this is what I have in my RssConsumer.aspx page:
Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load Session("permittedToViewSomeDetail") = True Dim url = "http://localhost/DevSite/RSSProducer.aspx" Dim reader As New System.Xml.XmlTextReader(url) Dim ds As New DataSet() ds.ReadXml(reader) myRssRepeater.DataSource = ds.Tables(2) myRssRepeater.DataBind() End Sub
My problem is that user-authorization details are stored in Session in the RssConsumer page that need to be accessed in the RSSProducer page (in this example it would be Session("permittedToViewSomeDetail") that I need to access in the RSSProducer page); however, the Session identifier is not common between the two. This means that I cannot access the authorization details in the RSSProducer page.
The reason for why is fairly clear to me:
User's browser makes a request to the RssConsumer page Server generates a Session ID (which is stored in a cookie) if there is no existing Session Identifer The RSSConsumer requests the RSSProducer page...which generates a new Session ID every time because no session identifier is ever going to be found.
I tried using cookieless session so that I could pass the SessionID via the URL to the RSSProducer page as an experiment but for some reason the XmlTextReader doesn't work well with this method (but the desired shared session does work). I've hit a brick wall here. Does anyone know how to share session between pages when one page makes a request to the other?
I want to show my data in next page with well formated in table.I all ready write code for session which show data in next page.but i want to show it in table format and i also want to comapre in database for a price and show too. this is my code for next page:

Having a very strange problem and just wondered if anyone could shed some light on it. I have a page that takes a file and posts it (using a flash control) to another page on the same site. Now this other paged is used simply to take the file from the request and save it to disk. However when i try and set a session value there the calling page can not access this session variable (no matter how long i do a thread.sleep. It is simply nit finding the variable.
When i looked deeper into this I ran trace.axd and much to my surprise the page that is called does not show up in the list. But it is defnitely being called as the file that the original page sent has been saved to disk.
Building asp.C# shopping app that is using a hosted payment page to process payments (using posting of data to a hosted payment page). SSL certificate is signed and installed.
Flow:
Prelim) (HTTPS) Users authenticate using asp Login control
1) Users add items to cart.
2) (HTTPS)Users go to checkout page.
3) Users finalize their order, then click pay now after agreeing to T&C.
4) Server gets cart data (from MSSQL2005) and sets a transaction cookie (expiry set to 20 mins).
5) (HTTPS) Server Response.Redirects to an html page (in the same folder as the login protected pages).
6) Html page reads transaction cookie data and generates form fields.
7) (HTTPS) Html page posts data to hosted payment page (php).
8) User enters payment info and clicks pay now.
9) (HTTPS) hosted payment page posts info back to a .aspx page that checks if payment OK.
10a) If payment !OK, redirects to a declined page.
10b) (HTTPS) If payment OK, sets a verification cookie (expiry set to 20 mins). Then redirects to another html page.
11) Html page reads cookie data and generates form fields.
12) (HTTPS) Html page posts data to hosted verification page (php).
13) Verification page verifies (of course), if transaction ok.
14) (HTTPS) verification page posts data to a .aspx page that checks if verification OK.
15) If verification OK, process orders and do receipt stuff.
Issue:
This control flow was tested on an unsigned dev environment. SSL was being enforced, if needed on the unsigned SSL certificate. So we'd get prompts that certificate may be bad, but the control flow worked seamlessly.
However, now live with a signed SSL certificate, going from step 5 to 6, we are encountering a situation where some users (not duplicated every time, but verified that it does occur) when they click pay now and are redirected to the html page, they are forced back to the ~/login.aspx page (as if they were logged out).
Things to note:
a) The session did not time out.
b) The browsers have cookies and javascript enabled.
c) I can process the entire flow seamlessly on the same machine with other accounts, and occasionally, the same account.
So, basically, I'm stumped... Is this a viewstate error? A login control bug that won't let me redirect to an html page because it is now using a real SSL? Anyone have any experience with this kind of deal? I'm at a loss for solutions at this point.
I have a site which has restricted access. Access is controlled via session variables.
There are a lot of pages to the site so I was going to check for the session variable via the page load event in my mater page. However, on certain pages I use the session variable in that pages page load event. This throws an error when the session doesn't exist, but what I want is the master page's page load to fire first.

There are two pages in my app, A and B.A is login page from which user ID was saved in a session. Once user login, B is open and user ID will display in B. When user submitted an order successfully at page B, page B will reopen but user ID was missed. How to fix it to keep session value in 20 minutes as default? I check IIS, session time out time is 60 minutes.
I have a very interesting problem about Sessions and Master Pages. I designed a small CRM web application with master page. Users could enter their expenses with this application. I put a label on master page. If users login to this site, I changed this label text. Label text is username. My problem is; when some users using this site at same time, usernames are conflict. For example; One client login and label which on the masterpage value is Ali. Another client login and label value is Ahmet. After that, If two clients process the same things on this site, Ahmet's label's value is changed to the value of Ali. I write it Session Id on URL. Firstly two clients take different Session ID when login to that page. When conflict occurs, two clients are the same Session Id that pages. I am using .NET Framework 3.5V. Is this ASP.NET bug ?
I am using a .net blog application (BlogEngine.net) and to skin it you have to create a new masterpage. I have most of it working but my dropdown navigation is not working. Here is my page that isn't working: [URL] Then I decided to just take my styles and code and put on a normal page to see how it looks and it works as expected. [URL]
Is there a way where I can set the GridView to always show the total page even when there are not enough records to fill the page? Example, my page size is 12 and if my binding results in 8 rows I want the GridView to be displayed with 12 rows (4 blank rows).
I am a little confused what approach I should make as my standard designing web pages. I have been reading about relative and absolute positioning. Articles I have come accross seems to favour both. So from the experts I would like to know what standard I should adopt. Is there a combination that is good, example have panels be absolute and controls within be relative. I find it hard to work with relative positioning especially when you have to insert new control between already existing controls. Maybe I am doing things wrong?
Is it possible to run a SQL Server 2005 job from an asp.net intranet page? I've been opening up SQL Server 2005 and manually running this and thought it would really be convenient if I could just click a button on a web page instead.
I have a Datagrid which is editable by the user. When you click on the edit button next to the item that you want to edit, it scrolls right back to the top of the page and you have to scroll back down to edit the item. how to stop this from happening?
I have a master page, content page, login page, and a summary page. I have setup a user in ASP.Net Config and configured my web.config file. I have my login page as a standard page because my master page holds my menu control and I don't want the end user to see this until they get a valid login. In my login control I have set the destinationurl to my summary page but two things are not working correctly.
One my login page is not using my CSS file. I have added it in the login.aspx as below:-
I have a dynamic website where each page has a selection criteria and a button. When the user clicks on the button it creates an csv file on the remote server and then emails it to the person who is logged in.
I have seen on a lot of sites where the screen goes a dark grey (still being able to see the webpage underneath) and a animated gif in the middle looking like a circular egg timer. Once the processing is complete it goes back to the webpage.
I have an ASP.NET page that has a wizard control. I need to see if the same user is working on the page so I first time I insert a record and next time I update database records. I am using Session.SessionID to check if the same user is working on the page, but on every postback, SessionID gives a unique string and always the "insert" construct executes. What is the best way to check the same user is working back and forth on the same page. User is not logged in, its an open form on the page.
