Then Whe I try to click on the edit linkbuttin in the form view I have to click it twice to change the mode to edit.

View 1 RepliesI have a user requirement to hav the ability to directly edit the gridview without having to click the edit link. I was thinking of showing dropdown lists for each column-to-row so that the user can select the values for each record. Then the table will be updated accordingly (no update link).
Is this possible or do I still need the edit template and specify the item template with the dropdown list?
In my view, I am displaying the list of customers and below that list havcing Add button, When Add button is clicked, Don't want to redirect to another view to add new customer. I want to do in the same view (which is diplaying list)? and when edit button is clicked, need to do in the same view below the list. How to do this?

View 5 RepliesI'm making my first professional website. I don't know what goes on when developing websites, so my question here could be incorrect. Anyway, I want a way to have an administrator login to my website and have the ability to modify, edit, delete, or add whatever he wants on the fly. How would I do that?! I really don't think that whenever the people I'm making the website for would need changes or adding new pages would call me to do that for them! So, I must provide them with their own means of administrating their own site after I'm done with it.
I have thought about using webparts but they're not thorough for everything in the site. Also, a side question, where should I put text content of the page in? Should I store it in a database, text file, or hard code it in the page?
i would like to ask about the design pattern of insert/update/delete record in the datagrid.
my page have 3 datagrids, each datagrid display different data.
but when clicking the save/update/delete button, how can i write a good progrmming pattern to perform this action.
any example code for my reference?

I'm new to asp.net 3.5 and I have been working through the tutorials using a real access database to learn how to use the new controls. I have an extremely simplistic page setup with a master-details view, the master using the gridview, and the detail using the detailsview controls. Everything seemingly functions correctly, except when I try to update the data in the details view. I make changes to the record, click update and the page posts back but nothing is updated in the database. No errors are given either.

I'm struck at editing the row which is displayed after search operation being performed. I've a table that has User_ID, Name, Status. I would like to bind data and display in gridview. I've implemented a search box to search fr the name and edit the status of the person. But if I'm trying to implement edit option on the searched entry it is not working as how I needed .

I am not using any default datasources like sqldatasource or accessdatasource.
Want to do it in code behind.
Validations should be used as if some one try to update the value as blank or do not enter characters/numbers like that.
