VS 2008 - SSRS Error "Cannot Create A Connection To Data Source DsDB"
Feb 19, 2010
I have put my web project (which uses reporting services) into the web server for testing. All works fine on th elocal machine but on the server I get this error when trying to access the reports: The permissions granted to user 'NT AUTHORITYNETWORK SERVICE' are insufficient for performing this operation. (rsAccessDenied) I have now done this: go to the property tab and create a new group with name BUILTINUsers
And in the role assignment tick browser role Now the error is :
An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted) Cannot create a connection to data source 'dsDB'. (rsErrorOpeningConnection) For more information about this error navigate to the report server on the local server machine, or enable remote errors
I can successfully run a sample report on the local computer. DataSource and Report are valid it renders perfect.
But when i move my DataSource and Report to Remote server which is hosted by a company, then i always receive following error!. It is really disgusting.
An error occurred during client rendering. An error has occurred during report processing. Cannot create a connection to data source 'DataSource1'.
For more information about this error navigate to the report server on the local server machine, or enable remote errors
How to combine two table in a database to create a single report. For example I am having two tables in a database linked each other by means of primary and foreign key I cant able to combine these two tables while designing in aspx window. I can able to combine in .rdl file that is normal ssrs, when coming here (.rdlc) I cant able to combine the two tables. I am using VS2008 and SQL2008.
i Have upgraded my Reports from Report server VS 2005 to VS 2008 .
My reports works fine in local, development & test server.
After Ugrading to 2008 it works fine in local server & devlopement serverr.
When i deployed to Test server i am trying to access my reports i am getting below errors,
An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted)
Cannot create a connection to data source 'DataSource1'. (rsErrorOpeningConnection) For more information about this error navigate to the report server on the local server machine, or enable remote errors ..
i checked the Datasource conncetion properties..its pointing to correct Test database only..
My reports are windows integrated...
Now it works in srs 2005 developement & test server. For same properties it works in dev server, it doesn't works in srs 2008 test server.
Failed to generate a user instance of SQL Server due to failure in retrieving the user's local application data path. make sure the user has a local user profile on the computer. The connection will be closed.
I am getting "ASP.NET Session Expired" error when viewing SQL Server 2008 reports using the Microsoft ReportViewer web control. I found this article http://balanagaraj.wordpress.com/2009/09/25/session-has-expired-in-asp-net/ which suggests to use one worker process in IIS application pool, but that may affect performance, is there any other solution for this? I tried setting "AsyncRendering" to false already and that didn't work.
I'm using Visual Studio 2008, and my database is SQL Server 2000.
I want to add a connection to the Server Explorer in VS. The Data source is Microsoft SQL Server (SqlClient). After entering in all my information and I click Test Connection, it is successful.
But when I click OK, I get the error:
Unable to add data connection. ExecuteScalar requires an open and available connection. The connection's current state is closed.
I wanted to post my problem and solution since I've gotten some good information on this board. When deploying my Visual Studio 2008 C# .NET 2.0 web application Production, I encountered some problems, which is not unusual. What was unusual is that my Crystal Reports .NET reports that use the Report Viewer control would not work; they errored out with:
note: Crystal Report works fine in dev environment....
Logon failed. Details: ADO Error Code: 0x Source: ADODB.Connection Description: Provider cannot be found. It may not be properly installed. Unable to connect: incorrect log on parameters. We are using Oracle 11g 64 bit as database. We establish crystal report database connection by two ways,
1. Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Oracle
2. Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC
but we got the same error in report module when we using two methods.
When i compile my vs2008 solution which is a web application in debug mode i keep getting message box displayed which says that it cannot connect "whatever.designer.cs". Can
Basically I want to take the following:And make it match the styling of the rest of the application.I am creating a custom error page in my C# based project and I want it to be able to show the same information that is displayed in the ASP.NET default error page. From fiddling with reflector I can see that this is generated through HttpException.GetHtmlErrorMessage() but when I try to use this in my exception it returns null.
I previously used a datasource and a connection string to connect to my database on sql server and all orked fine. The connection string was saved in my web.config file and is: ....
I am using VS2008 and oracle 10g ODP.Net. The oracle database that I used in the connection is working and tested it using sql plus. The connection string when used in a GriDView works perfectly. Now when I created a new listview control with the same connection it gives an error.Database schema could not be retrieved for this connection. Please make sure connection settings are correct and the database is online
Object reference not set to an instance of an object at VSDataObjectSupport (478,6)
when user logins to my website i want to acess the users local database, all user having the same database name, same tables every thing but they are not connected in network .so i want to know how to get the data source value in the connection string for that user, so that i can acess his local database.
i have a code which has the connection string as driver. dim s as string = "Driver={SQL Server}; Server=xxxSQLEXPRESS; Database=dbRegister; Trusted_Connection=yes"
I have VS 2010 professional. I am trying to open "ASP.Net Configuration" through Project -> ASP.Net Configuration.
It pops up the Notification about the ASP.Net Development Server localhost but doesn't open ASP.Net Configuration in the default browser.I clicked on the Root Url (by double clicking on the 'development server' at the right bottom from Notification Manager).
It throws following error
"An error was encountered. Please return to the previous page and try again."
Clicking on "How do i use this tool".It opened page with error.
Background: I use SQL server 2005 developer edition and visual studio 2008. Visual studio 2008 is running on a local machine with Vista business edition. SQL server is running on a remote server using Windows server 2003. Both computers are within the same domain.
Problem: First, I used the server explorer to connect to the SQL server. Everything works as desired. Then I write code to do the same thing. I keep getting the following error message:
A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 25 - Connection string is not valid)
However, I used the exactly identical connection string as the one used in the server explorer. So connection string should not be the problem. In addition, I tried the test code in MSDN, which tells whether my domainusername can flow the network. It turns out the user name is fine. I also went to the SQL server management studio and found the login for my computer is NVCWeihao while my computer login name is NVCweihao. I am wondering if this uppercase letter really affects the connection.
I have been trying to install VS 2008 profesional in my computer, I am getting this error "Package Visual Web Developer HTML source editor package has failed to loas properly GUID = BFCC0C3C-6F87-4285-A6C8-BB1606180OD Please contact package vendor for assistance, application restart is recomended , due to possible environment corruption.

How do I programmaticly set data source for Asp.net report control?I have a VS 2008 report control and want to switch between a couple different reports.I can switch repots by setting the report source and refreshing the control but I can't see where to set the data source. Each report has it's own data source and if I set them to start when the control is built it is fine but I need to switch between them.
How to access report services from localhost on my mahcine? Is there any web interface provided for SQL Server Reporting Services 2008? If so how can i do that and what is the URL?
I am creating report in winfrom. I am having three radio button and one button , when user click on any of those radio button and click on the button the report has to sort according to that. I am not asking about interactive sorting.
When I use VS2008 to create a new form application, I am able to go to the Data menu select "Show Data Sources" then the "Data Sources" window appears. Then I am able to "Add New Data Source" and so on. But when I create a new Web Application. I can not do that. Am I not able to create a Data Source on web applications?
