View 2 RepliesI have a gridview on a tab panel in my form. Once a user edits a field I write a record to a history table. So I do a save using a Page Method once a user clicks Save. After this save I want to refresh my gridview to show the new record. How can I do this using Jquery maybe?
View 10 RepliesI just installed VS2008 on a brand new Win7 machine and have started at a new company. I am now running the company's main project and all is well...except that, for some reason, .Net keeps breaking on some javascript errors. This isn't in the browser (although it only happens when running IE, in this case version 8).
I'm at a loss as to where to find the option to turn off the javascript debugging in VS 2008.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
I have a custom gridview which is populated using a 3 tier architecture. Please can someone show me how I can use a jquery lightbox in my gridview to add/edit records. How can I implement this using my DAL and BLL.this seems like the most user friendly method of adding/editing to me. What do you guys think?

I want the same solution like Making A Cool Login System With PHP, MySQL & jQuery But in ASP.Net 3.5, SQL Server 2008 and jquery.
I want this solution for my ASp.Net(C#) site in which I'm using ASP.Net's default membership module and now I want to put its loginview and registaration system in a jquery modal windows and validate the user in the system and create the new user in the sytem by entering user credentials in the loginviews and registaration fields inside the modal windows and then by clicking on the button palced in the modal windows as well.
I need to attach a function to the onBlur event of a textbox column in my gridview. I know how to attach the event but I need calculating the total.
I have a TemplateField with a textbox as the ItemTemplate and Three labels in the FooterTemplate for Sub Total, VAT and Total.
So when I enter new values into the textboxes I want the totals to get calculated automatically as the textbox loses focus.
I have a CustomValidator client script method that checks the value of a <input type="date" id="start"/> control. I'm accessing the date value using jQuery $('#start').val(), which works fine in Firefox and Opera. When I test in Chrome/Safari, the js console says that $('#start') is null. There is no problem using $('#start') outside the CustomValidator client method in Chrome/Safari. There is also no problem accessing the #start date object via document.getElementById('start') inside the validation method.
why jQuery selectors are failing inside this validation method for Chrome/Safari?
If VS 2008 and VWD 2008 are both installed on the same machine, will they both use the same Projects folder to keep my projects in?If so, can I open the projects and run them interchangeably with VS2008 and VWD 2008? This is the folder that is located at " User>Documents>Visual Studio 2008>Projects

View 2 RepliesI have looked at all the posts I can find on this problem and tried everything I can think of, but still the problem persists. I am getting really sick of it.was working fine for the last year until an update to MS Office 2007 caused a lot of problems (automatic update). After checking posts here, I removed it completely. No change. I then tried all the things I could find on other posts, also no change. Today, I removed VS and the Web Authoring Component and re-installed. Still no go.
Does anyone have a fix for this problem. It seems that it has been around a long time, but is still giving problems. I even saw one suggestion to reformat the drive! You've got to be joking!
I'm creating a website and I'm testing resgistering and Log-in.
I followed a simple tutorial to create a Log-in in Visual Studio C# template which generated a SQL Server database.Locally the Log-in and registration page works perfectly. The problem is that when I upload my site to the hosting site the navigation works but the Log-in and Registration forms send an error when clicked "Register" or "Log-in". I contacted the site and they upload my database the way it should be because I was doing it wrong. I can see all my files including the data base.
They commented me that I had to do a connection string to the data base so the login and registration forms can work. I don't understand how to do that, I know the connection string has to be declared in the Web Config File, the thing is that I don't know how to write that code and link it to my data base in the hosting site, in fact I have sample code but I don't know just what do I need to put in it.
I been trying to attach a database in sql 2008 express created in VS 2008 Professional. I have been getting error message and codes which there is no support for once you click the link in the message whats up with that? to my most recent memory it had something to do with permissions... but I was logged in as adminstrator so that confuses me.

Using the Web Platform installer, in installed both the Visual Web Developer Express 2008 and SQL Server Management Studio Express 2008. Next, I connected to my local SQL Server Express 2008 and created a simple database and table using Visual Web Developer Express 2008 where the database file resided in the app data folder of my website. I can connect and explore the table from both Visual
Web Developer 2008 as well as the full blown version of Visual Studio 2008.
I am new to vwd. I installed vwd express edition 2008 with sql express 2008 in xp sp2. After this i installed report view 2008 addon for vwd express. After the installation i noticed that there is no toolbox in my vwd. Before it was there.
View 1 RepliesHopefully this is a simple question. I am filling in for someone out.
We currently are using 2008 Express. Do I need to remove this prior to installing 2008 Developer, or can I simply just install over.
is there any difference between sql express and sql client. Actually I have been told to install a sql client using which i will connect to the sql server installed remotely. Also I have sql express edition 2008 installed on my machine. So is it the same. Will I be able to connect to the sql server using the sql server express edition.?

I recently bought a new computer, so I want to copy the projects into current system which has visual studio. I have a project developed in VWD 2008. I copied the folder into a flash drive and copied it back into the new system.
Knowing the location, how I do import the project into new system?
I have a project that I developed in VS2005 and that has been put into VSS. I am trying to "get" it on a new machine and convert it to VS2008 because that is what is installed on the new machine. I am having problems with it that I think originate in its working folder. So my basic question is, when you try to work with a solution that's in VSS should you maintain the same folder structure that it had when it was originally checked in? I'm not particularly happy with its original structure because it goes on and on seven levels deep, and I wanted to just cut it down to C:ProjectsResNew, but if that's what it takes to get it to work, I'll do it.
