I am new to vwd. I installed vwd express edition 2008 with sql express 2008 in xp sp2. After this i installed report view 2008 addon for vwd express. After the installation i noticed that there is no toolbox in my vwd. Before it was there.
Using the Web Platform installer, in installed both the Visual Web Developer Express 2008 and SQL Server Management Studio Express 2008. Next, I connected to my local SQL Server Express 2008 and created a simple database and table using Visual Web Developer Express 2008 where the database file resided in the app data folder of my website. I can connect and explore the table from both Visual Web Developer 2008 as well as the full blown version of Visual Studio 2008.
I have been attempting to install sql server express 2008 but have come across problems. I downloaded it via web platform installer and it ran the install process, and I thought this would be it, but then upon creating some wizard log in controls on a website they won't work because its not installed. Then i relised I can't actually run the program, only some of its features. I then found the Installation centre and thought, oh I haven't actually installed it yet, and when I select new SQL server stand-alone installation or add features, instead of going through the process like it states on tutorials for installs, it asks me to browse for installation media, which I do not have because I downloaded the express edition.
I'm encountering the following exception everytime i try and install any of the following.
My Lappy configuration :
64 bit Windows 7 OS
Installed Visual Studio 2010 premium.
SQL Server 2008 Express

Also, when I'm trying to udpdate SQL Server 2008 R2 products using SQL Server Installation Center, it's throwing the following error.
SQL Server Setup has encountered the following error:

I downloaded VWD 2008 express months ago. Don't know what happened but my design view went.I have reinstalled the application several times but no success. I posted this problem on several forums and got many suggestions like uninstall office 2007, reinstall web authoring component, install n et.framework 3.5 which is not compatible with Win7 and does not install, so I have net.framework 4.0. I tried to bburn the iso file installation package, burnt it to a dvd and install it from the media, nothing. My pc is a Compaq Presario CQ61 Notebook running Win7 Home Edition.

On MVC 1.0, Microsoft had a nice standalone installer to put MVC 1.0 assemblies in the GAC on the target server. Is there such a beast for MVC 2.0 or am I responsible for manually deploying the MVC 2.0 assemblies?
I have been using VWD2010 Express for a website that I am working on. Due to a delay in implementing the 4.0 framework at the hosting service that I use, I need to finish up with VWD2008 Express. Is there a simple way to save my project so that it is compatible with 2008?
Would something be missing, not working, or confusing if I do this? First, install SQL Server 2008 Standard, and SP1. Then, install Visual Studio 2010 Professional, unchecking SQL Server 2008 Express option. Or would I need to fix any configurations afterwards?

I'm struggling to install the Ajax toolkit in Visual Studio 2008 Developer Eddition. I followed all the steps in the ReadMe but everytime I right -click in the new tab and select "Choose Items..." my visual studio shows in the left hand bottom corner something like "Loading 'Choose Toolbox Items' dialog" and then after a few seconds visual studio just exits. What gives? Is there another way around this?
Report viewer from SQL reporting services in VS 2008 report control If I create a new report in VS 2008 they have a .rdlc extension and work correctly.
I have some reports that I was using in SQL reporting services. Extensions are .rdl and want to get them to work with VS 2008.
I copied the rdl files and the .rdl.data files over to VS 2008 (SP1) project but when I go to select the report in the control it does not see the file (I assume it is looking for a .rdlc file)
I tried rename the file to .rdlc and loaded the file up and got
The report definition has an invalid target namespace [URL] which cannot be upgraded.
I see this
[URL]
[URL]
It says
"RDL files are fully compatible with the ReportViewer control runtime. However, RDL files do not contain some information that the design-time of the ReportViewer control depends on for automatically generating data-binding code. By manually binding data, RDL files can be used in the ReportViewer control."
But the link for how to manual bind the data is broken.
