i have textbox whose value converted to Int32. while passing value to database when textbox is blank it gives error as Input string was not in a correct format.
my code is

what should i do?
I'm stuck getting a value from a textbox in code behind. I have tried

I have a FileUpload control inside of an update panel that I would like to use to do async file uploads. The issue I am having is that during the partial post back, the FileUpload control is empty. I was under the impression that through an update panel doing the full page life cycle that it would pick up the use input.Am I incorrect here? Can this somehow be done or do I need to do the traditional full page post back to get this to work?

If I have JSON like this and pass it to the engine I am using to create a PDF file, the word "null" appears on the PDF. This isn't really my example, but I googled "json replace null empty string" and this was a hit, which is a good representation of my data, also:

We use a rendering engine that creates a PDF from a fixed template and variable data in the form of a json string. But our customers don't want to read that the id is "null", they want to read that the id is blank. In my C# program, the json is just a string, so I can easily do something like this:
jsonString = jsonString.Replace("null,", ",");but the issue is I can't replace null-comma with a comma, because then it's invalid json.
how to I make the rendering engine *and* my customer both happy?
I have a text box on page load, loads a text value. I would like on the first instance of the page load for another textbox to equal to this value. As I have a gridview on the same page to update the textbox value does not get updated.
Essentially, if provide me with a VB script to obtain the value of the textbox on page load to pass to another textbox default value only on the same page.

View 2 RepliesI have the beginnings or near endings of a data search web application. My first significant ASP.Net application. I understand how to do this in Calssic ASP but ASP.Net it quite different. I have 3 Pages:
(1)Search Parameters Page
(2)Results Page
(3)Details Page
What would the recommended method be for passing search parameters from page 1 to page 2 then to page 3 and back?
The challenge here is that on page 3, I allow paging through other records related to the record selected in a gridview on page 2. When done paging through these records on page 3, I want to return to page 2 with the same results and gridview page I left from on my way to page 3 originally.
I also may need to display the details on page 3 from some other source page.
These questions come up because I have:

In page 2 that tells this page to get its values from public properties exposed in page 1 (Default.aspx)
Page 3 has:

I worked in viewstate stuff and enabled it for the textbox and page, but with no results.
I have a textbox named txtOrderDate on my web page. I have a VB.net subroutine that saves various textboxes from my web page to my SQL table using a stored procedure. If a valid date is entered into txtDate, then my save works correctly. I have a column named OrderDate in my table. This is the column I am saving txtOrderDate to. OrderDate is defined as a date column and null is allowed.
But if txtorderDate is blank, my subroutine bombs saying cannot convert string to date. I tried various things like making the value of txtDate = DBNull.value if blank but nothing works. Seems like there would be an easy way to do this.

In my app I'm using the AJAX modalPopupExtender on a panel. This works fine. The issue is in the code behind. I have this code in a LOOP: Panel.Show() I need the popup panel to show each time the code loops through. The issue is that it loops through the code then only shows the panel once at the end. Is there a way to have the panel popup through each pass of the loop?
