i am working on asp.net application using C#, identifying properties that are unused in my project. in Code analysis tool i am able to see unused private fields getting reported (Avoid unused private fields), but is there any such facility too for unused Properties declared in the class.
View 3 RepliesCreating a .NET 3.5 website in 2010, and when I attempt to create public properties for a user control I whipped up it is giving me inline error:Visual Basic 9 does not support auto-implemented properties. I can, however, type GET on the next line 2010 populates the property just like it used to. However, when I expose a control property it craps out with a null reference error at runtime.

Im working on a website project with Visual Studio 2010 from 2 different computers (home & work).
In Dreamweaver Im used to FTP to upload/download files to/from a webserver to syncronice my files on the current computer Im working on.What is best option in Visual Studio 2010 to sync project files between home & work computers? I have seen there is a built in FTP, but seems only it can upload files, limited functionality?
I am interested to know what happens with unused properties of a class when an object is instantiated?
Are there performance hits for having additional unused properties? What about complex properties that are accessing the database, but I'm not using them, are they still being loaded?
when i opened my Visual Studio 2010 i noticed that my ajax tab was missing from my toolbox and ajax control kit too.Then i noticed even that when i create new website, there is no web.config in it and it should be.WHAT IS GOIN ON???? :/

View 1 RepliesI recently updated my VS2010 website project from .NET 3.5 to 4.0. Everything was working fine in the website project. Today I decided to migrate the website to a web application project as I have learned this is the best way to work in .NET. I split out all my class files into a separate class library and copied all my other content into my new project. Then I updated all the references and web.config.
When I build the class library, everything works great. The problem is happening when I try to build/debug the web application project. It is acting like all the controls are missing and it is also throwing a bunch of compile errors about the public properties I have in my master pages.
Control errors: "The name 'INSERT CONTROL NAME HERE' does not exist in the current context"
Master page errors:'System.Web.UI.MasterPage' does not contain a definition....
It is giving these errors for every single control and master page property in my entire solution.I notice when I add a new web.form to this project, it also adds a filename.aspx.designer.cs file in addition to the .aspx and .aspx.cs file. My existing files do not have these extra files since they were created in a different .NET version.
UPDATE: It seems I was missing the step where I need to right click on the new application folder and select "Convert to web application". I just did that and it seems to be a little bit better...
Now it is choking on Literals that are inside single quotes:
<div class='<asp:Literal ID="CssClassLiteral" runat="server"></asp:Literal>'>
It doesn't see this literal when it does the conversion... Is the above valid code or should I implement that functionality another way?

how to use custom web server in asp.net application properties.
we can see in a web application properties, there are three options under servers
1. use visual studio development server
2. use local iis web server and
3. use custom web server
I'm not sure if I'm asking this correctly, but I'm having a problem with a web service. The company hosting a web service wants to see what I'm submitting to the API. Is there something in the debugger I can use to "print" or somehow get the request object and all of it's properties with values in Visual Studio? I'm guessing there's some way to get the XML request?

i dont know how this image tag comes.. and how to chage that...
I highlight an image in a HTML document and try to set its properties in the design by right clicking and looking up properties, I see only HTML or Document (no image). In the source view there is no link to image files folder. I guess this will be improved in the final version.
View 3 RepliesI'm using VWD 2010 Express and have found that when I change a property like AutoPostBack from within the property window the corresponding tag (<asp:TextBox...>) was not updated with the property change to the tag.
Is there a setting that I can change in the VWD properties that will enable changes through the property window for a control to automatically update the HTML tag for that control?
suppose i've created my own user control, and it has a textbox and a property for the textbox so that if i use the user control from within the aspx file, i can give the property a value. for example:

is it possible to also set the property to be seen via the desing mode , just as it works for other (built in) controls? maybe a different method to implement the same scenario?
if you still didn't understand what i mean : after setting the value of DefaultNum1 via the code i've written here, i expect the textbox associated with this property to be updated as well to '1' via the design mode (and split mode). of course it won't work using the current method, since VS cannot guess what is going on with the property and understand that all of its purpose is to assign an initialization value for the textbox.
I'm trying to create a MVC project inside of VS 2010 using Asp.Net MVC 2 RC2, using all the default settings and the default "Visual Studio Unit Test" framework and am getting 6 Namespace errors upon compile (without touching ANYTHING). Pretty standard setup. I removed the prior MVC versions before installing RC2 for VS2010 etc. These are the errors:

The namespace "AWWOAMVC" is empty (or so says Intellisense). Both of these reside in the same solution explorer, as it is brand new project.
