how to use custom web server in asp.net application properties.
we can see in a web application properties, there are three options under servers
1. use visual studio development server
2. use local iis web server and
3. use custom web server
Why custom Gridview control not render html properlies under <Columns> properly in Visual Studio 2005?

I have a simple HttpHandler that generates a dynamic image based on query string parameters and a custom web control that renders an image tag pointing to the handler as its 'src' attribute. All works fine when run in the web server, but at design timethe control displays as the "missing image" icon (red x in a box). The handler is registered in the web.config with a ".ashx" extension. The RenderContents method in the control looks like this:

I've been working on this for a while now and nothing has been a bigger pain in asp.net. I'm trying to implement custom profile fields in my visual studio 2008 web application project. I've read a lot of tutorials but they all seem to be either out dated or don't apply to web application projects. Last night I got a little closer to solving the problem when I found the "Web Profile Builder" for web applications. I've successfully set this up and can handle static profile data.I've got my web.config file setup and I can access my custom profile fields by Profile.CustomField. Now I want to figure out how I integrate this with the database and data connection. I know there are two standard ways to handle this, I would like to create new columns in the aspnet_Profile database (rather than the delimited key/value option).I'm pretty new to asp.net and this is my first project with c#, .net, and asp.

The above code compiles without any error. Also I can drag and drop this control from the Toolbox of my Project on my web form. However I am unable the change the value of my fromLabel control.It allows me to change the value in the properties window.But when I run the form it always shows me its default value which is "From". I want it to be flexible so that any one can change the value in the properties window.
I get the same culture i.e. "en-US" while running the website from both IIS and Visual Studio's web server.
But I get a different date format as follows, when I run the following code:

Does "Regional and Language Options" in "Control Panel" play any role in this ? If I change the date format there in "Regional and Language Options", I see no effect in my application.
My colleague and I are both using VS 2010 and we have created a web application each. We can both publish our own applications to a ftp (web host's) and it works fine. However, if my colleague send me his solution and I run it locally on my machine it works but when I try to publish it I get promped for password and I enter it (same as I use for my application) but it fails. Same for my colleague if he takes a copy of my solution and tries to publish it.

I have developed a User Control in inline code model and convert this into dll and try to add it into Visual Studio ToolBox. It shows error "There is no component found in the object.". It is showing actually because i have not added ToolBoxData attribute just before the class declaration, because there is no class declaration in the inline code model. I don't know where i have to add ToolBoxData attribute.
View 1 RepliesI created and populated a database inside Visual Studio 2008 instead of using Management Studio.I need to run the script to create the schema for users and roles.The database does not show up in ASP.NET SQL Server Setup Wizard or in Management StudioThe only databases that do show up are master, model, msdb, and tempdb
Is there anything I can do to fix this or would it be easier for me to just create a new database starting in Management Studio and then connect to it from within Visual Studio?

And when I press OK a second dialog reports this error:>unable to connect to the asp.net development server. I reinstalled, repaired and re registered msdbg2.dll and edited hosts file but still get this error. I need to debug an application but I can't. This error is on a 'Win 2003 server enrterprise service pack 1' with a vs2008 team system installation. What can I do to remove this error and run and debug my application?

I am developing a single web application that will dynamically change its content depending on which domain name is used to reach the site. Multiple domains will point to the same application. I wish to use the following code (or something close) to detect the domain name and perform the customizations:

I would like to test the functionality of the above using the ASP.NET development server. I created mappings in the local HOSTS file to map [URL] to 127.0.0.1, and [URL] to 127.0.0.1. I then browse to the application with the browser using [URL] (etc).
When I try to test this code using the ASP.net development server the [URL] always says localhost. It does NOT capture the host entered in the browser, only localhost.
Is there a way to test the URL detection functionality using the development server?
I'm trying to deploy my MVC 2.0 web application to a Windows 2003 server with IIS6, and can't find the means to do it. I read about clicking Build/Deploy, but I don't have this showing on my menu, and I have the professional version.

Is there something in the debugger I can use to "print" or somehow get the request object and all of it's properties with values in Visual Studio? View 1 RepliesI have a custom server control inheriting from CompositeControl. It consists of two RadioButtonlist controls that are rendered side by side in an html table. The number of ListItems in each RadioButtonList is not known until runtime. Depending on how many items each list contains, the RepeatColumns property of each list is set differently. To do this in the handler for the ItemDataBound event I need to get the count of ListItems in each RadioButtonList. How do I expose the Items.Count property of each internal RadioButtonList as a top-level property? I tried using a getter to return the count but this generates a compile-time error to the effect that the count cannot be assigned to--even though I have not created a setter.
Similarly, in the handler for the Submit event, I need to get the ClientID of each internal RadioButtonList to pass to a method that checks for data changes. How do I expose the ClientID of each component RadioButtonList as a top-level property?
I can of course index the Controls collection of the composite control to access the child control and read its properties--but that defeats the whole point of making a complex, independent custom server control.

However in my content page code behind I cannot see the custom properties of the master page in Visual Studio.
Creating a .NET 3.5 website in 2010, and when I attempt to create public properties for a user control I whipped up it is giving me inline error:Visual Basic 9 does not support auto-implemented properties. I can, however, type GET on the next line 2010 populates the property just like it used to. However, when I expose a control property it craps out with a null reference error at runtime.
