Visual Studio :: Is There An Easy Way To Uninstall The Express Instance
Jun 3, 2010
I installed Visual Web Developer 2010 on a machine that already had SQL Server 2008 Professional on it. Now that machine is running both SQL 2008 Professional and SQL 2008 Express instances.
Is there an easy way to uninstall the Express instance?
Both visual studio 2008 express edition and visual studio professional setup's are install in my system, i like to uninstall visual studio 2008 express edition, and use professional edition. is there any problem arises in visual studio professional edition, if i uninstall visual studio 2008 exp edition
I tried to install Visual Studio Prof 2010 trail version in my system, but i got an error saying 'Please remove/uninstall Visual Studio 2010 load test controller' to proceed installation. i uninstalled my previous VS2008 software from system and i could not find anything like 'Remove/Uninstall Visual Studio 2010 load test controller' software in my Add/Remove Programs.
While attempting to download Visual Web Developer 2010 Express I received an error message stating that I needed to uninstall the Beta 2 issue. However I have not been able to uninstall it.
I cannot install the proper Visual Studio 2010 because I have the Visual Studio RC isntalled and I cannot uninstall the Visual Studio RC because it crasches. I think my last option is to download the Visual Studio RC install files again and repair that installation and then uninstall it to later install the release version of Visual Studio 2010. Does any one know where I can find the Visual Studio RC install files again?

I recently "inadvertantly" installed VWD 2010. I still have my Visual Studio 2008 (full version) installed and want to remove VWD 2010. I want to recompile my active projects under VS 2008. Here are the steps I am planning to undertake. Am I missing anything?
1. Save all active projects 2. Remove VWD 2010 using "Uninstall Programs" from the control panel.3. remove ASP 4.0 via the same route.4. Reinstall VS 2008 5. Reinstall all service packs. Will this bring me back to a fully functional VS 2008? Need I make any additional registry changes? For the record, I do like VWD 2010 and would like to upgrade to the professional version but I cannot afford to do so at this time. I need to build some console applications and this is not possible under VWD. I am also unable to install C# Express.
I installed VS 2005 on my machine few months back and I worked with it. And now(its been 4 or 5 months I opened it last time) I saw that all the file options are missing and I'm unable to select any options( file->open ->website or web application) to open. so I uninstalled the VS 2005 from my machine and now tring to reinstall it. But I'm getting the following error.Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 SetupThe Windows Installer package:c:documents and settingsDesktopvs_setup.msicould not be opened.Choose Retry to try again. Choose Cancel for exit setup.Retry Cancel Mine is 32-bit XP machine.
I have installed SQL Server 2008 express, reinstall it with advanced services, uninstall TFS 2010 and tries to reinstall it but fails. It doesn't want to completely uninstall.
So I'd like to clean everything by hand (deleting registries, folders) but can't find any info. I have deleted install directory but installer still memorized that TFS is installed.
I have an application that I'm deploying via the Publish Wizard from Visual Studio 2008. I've added some code to my application that adds a few registry keys. I'd like to execute some code during the uninstall process to remove these registry keys.
I had Visual studio 2008 Team system installed on my machine and tried to uninstall that . When I did the uninstall, am getting a wierd error message "A problem has been encountered while loading the set up components .Cancelling set up". I googled this and found some posts asking me to uninstall all the hot fixes associated with VS 2008 TS .I did that but still am getting the same message.
I installed a VS2010 Trial and have since downloaded a copy from the company MSDN account. I uninstalled everything that said VS2010 in the Programs area and am now attempting to reinstall the MSDN copy. It does not work. The install ends up through all kinds of errors and ends with an unsuccessful install message.
What do I have to do to completely clean off the old versio, or may the new one overwrite everything?
vs asp2008 instance cant recognize the sqlExpress 2008 instance on my machine
I have wonder if you could try to help me with the fallowing issue:When trying to add a new sql server connection (local or remount) from VS(visual studio) 2008 express - on the add connection dialog
box: server name: are Empty!! The vs couldn't point to any database, like dont recognize the sqlExpress 2008 instance i got on my machine.
1. Have tried to "play" with sa property's(from sqlS: Databases: security: login tree folder) and with the sql
s windows service: stop and restart 2. And so with the target db. 3.
On the services.msc The sql server express the status is started. The sql server agent status is disabled and don't have the option to start. The sql server explorer status is disabled and don't have the option to start.
I know the question has been submitted previously. I am a newbie to those tools. If I access to the database by way of management studio both under the windows integrated authentication and sqlserver authentication, everything works like wonder, but VWD just pop up a warming when I tried to log in the DB, you know, I was not allowed to sign in under sqlserver mode. then it alarmed me that it failed in connecting to the default DB file with my windows account.
I have been using VWD2010 Express for a website that I am working on. Due to a delay in implementing the 4.0 framework at the hosting service that I use, I need to finish up with VWD2008 Express. Is there a simple way to save my project so that it is compatible with 2008?
I'd like to learn more about MS Business Intelligence Development Studio. I'm doing this on my own, so I'd like to keep my software costs down. It's my understanding that BIDS comes with the download for SQL Server, but is used in Visual Studio (by creatign a BIDS project). Is this accurate? My question is - Is it possible to get a working copy of BIDS by downloading SQL Server Express and Visual Studio Express?
I have been developing my web application using ASP.Net with Visual Web Developer 2008 Express Edition. I would like to be able to create some fairly simple reports. I understand that in some of the higher versions of Express their is a report creation program called "Crystal Reports" but it is not available in the "Express" edition.
Is there some way that I can create reports in the Express Edition?
Im having a strange problem which i never experienced before, the problem is my visual web developer 2005 express edition is not getting attached to the debugger, i mean when im running my web application it is not debugging the program if im putting any breakpoint, more over i uninstall and again installed visual web developer it worked fine for first time but again it is not working. i only difference is i have Internet explorer 8.I dont exactly know the problem. does any one faced similar problem
I uninstalled VWD 2010 Express Beta2. Then installed latest Release(April 12th) via Web Platform Installer .oh yes after installing XP Service Pack 3.
It all installed successfully and when I start the VWD 2010 express image comes up ....there is this fine text that says....
"For Evaluation Purpose Only"
"Use of this software should be limited to evaluation purpose only"
Being confused with that message I looked at Help->About VWD 2010 Express and right on top it says:
"29 days remaining"
So what's happening ? Did I install some wrong product... I don't think so...I used Web Platform Installer and yes it is "Visual Web Developer 2010 Express" and not a Professional Trial software.
I'm totally new to ASP.NET ( as a VC++ 6.0 engineer ), I have just downloaded the express edition of 2010 web developer and cannot find for the life of me the correct project template to create an ASP.NET webservice.. in 2008 it appears there is an option for this .. however I cannot find it in 2010..
just a quick question, are there a lot of developers using the express edition to make web sites, or is it limited to what you can do, and I would be better getting the full edition visual studio 2010. I have been using dreamweaver, but I wanted to try my hand at asp.net, thx for any info you can offer.
