Visual Studio :: PasswordRecovery Email Never Received
Jan 18, 2010
I'm working on a project in VS 2010 that was created in VS 2005 & 2008. I am using the standard PasswordRecovery control. When a goes through the password recovery process, everything appears to be normal. They enter their user name, have to answer the security question, then the "Your password has been sent to you" message is displayed. But, the email is never received. I have tried user names with several different email addresses, but no messages are received. What is a good way to debug this? Here are my settings:
In web.config:
<appSettings>
<!-- The following line is set up for Gmail (otherwise, value="localhost") -->
<add key="MailServer" value="[URL]"/>...
i have an aspx page, that takes in user data (name, number & email) after that information gets submitted to me, I need to send an email to their input email, with a message of confirmation.
I have a PasswordRecovery control set up on an ascx control as shown below. In some cases users have gotten two emails with different passwords sent at the same time. They're insistent that they haven't hit the button twice. I am using the CSSFriendly adapters, so I can take that off and see if it corrects the problem. Otherwise I suppose I could put this on the aspx page rather than a control.
I am new to asp.net 4.0 and I am having a hard time changing the PasswordRecovery to email instead of username. here is my aspx page (the page won't hit the vb code unless i enter the username not the email)
I have a password recovery control on my login page. I want to have it send the user specified (and after question/answer filled out correctly) password in an email. I keep throwing an error though, saying that the SMTP needs authentication. I've used a lot of email capabilities in my application, but I set all the SmtpClient properties programmatically, so I never had to rely on system.net mailSettings section of the web.config file. But now I am relying on it, because I am not intercepting any events (unless that would be easiest) of the password recovery control. Here is my system.net excerpt from my web.config file:
[Code]....
What am I not doing here to specify SMTP authentication? Why am I throwing this error? I'm putting my credentials in there with username and password. Am I not configuring the PasswordRecovery control correctly?
Is it possible to use the PasswordRecovery control to recover a password using the email address instead of the user name?
Ideally I'd like to have the PasswordRecovery control allow users to enter their email address instead of their user name and then proceed to answer the security question.
I have modified a SharePoint visual studio workflow which works as per requirement on the dev machine. I have to deploy it to an email enabled document library on sharepoint server and it is set to be started automatically when a new item is added to the library. When i deploy it to the server, and perform a manual upload to the doc library i.e. use the upload button to uplaod a document, it runs as expected. but when an email is received by the document library, a previous version of the workflow runs. this is really frustrating. I have removed all the previous versions of the workflow and now there is only one left. I have tried removing the workflow and adding it again but still the same behavior. I have removed temporary .net files from the windows folder but no luck.
If the new version is not installed properly, why is the manual upload working fine? can someone help? I want the same version of the workflow to run on the manual upload and email.
ng an application that listens on port 25. My application will work as a SMTP server receiving emails. I am aware that I can just enable IIS SMTP feature, but for my current project, I needed to do in this way.If I can send emails to visual studio development server which has a private IP, my debugging will be much easier. Is there a way to send emails to VS development server?
I have requirment o send bulk Email to client more than 10,000 a day so howz to manage into console .NET / c# applictaion if any of Email id failure to send then application didnot stop it wil continueolsly sending email from next one
I want to use a source control in VS2010, I know my best bet is TFS, but at the moment TFS(can't afford ). As i understand TFS is the new VSS_2005(can afford)Can VSS 2005 be use as a source control for VS 2010 solutions/projects?
I just recently upgrade my asp.net web project from visual studio 2005 to visual studio 2010. The upgrade was successful with no problems however im missing some features with this project. The One Click Publish feature(which is greyed out) in the header area of Visual Studio 2010 and the Add Config Transforms feature which is no where to be seen when you right click on web.config. When i create a new web project straight from visual studio 2010, these options work fine.
Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2 locked up, and when I tried to restart it, it wouldn't load, so I did a devenv.exe /resetuserdata to get it going again. It reset everyhing in my options of the web app/ etc, and now some AJAX conrols don't work such as dragpanel. I assume that it is because something got reset that I haven't enabled again, but can't figure it out.
Im working on a website project with Visual Studio 2010 from 2 different computers (home & work). In Dreamweaver Im used to FTP to upload/download files to/from a webserver to syncronice my files on the current computer Im working on.What is best option in Visual Studio 2010 to sync project files between home & work computers? I have seen there is a built in FTP, but seems only it can upload files, limited functionality?
can Visual Studio 2008 be All-In-One tool to integrate source code continuously from team members, build, unit test?
Having used Visual Studio Team Edition 2005, unit testing each method within VS itself. I strongly believe that it is feasible to add-on tools. Example ankhsvn tool to use SVN from Visual studio [URL]
In my investigating i have come across number of tools(shown below) to use with Visual Studio 2008 professional
Development tool:- Visual Studio 2008 professional using Subversion as source control tool. Continuous Integration:- Hudson or Cruise control Build tool:- NAnt Testing:- NUnit, Selinium As Visual Studio 2008 can be used for unit testing I think NUnit is out of consideration.
In the same way i would like to have any other tools/add-ons to Visual studio to implement continuous integration, building and unit testing. This process should be automated such a way source code between team members is continuously integrated, built and unit testing is done as configured.
Objective is to use few number of tools as add-on to Visual Studio or achieve most from Visual studio itself (example unit testing). Visual Studio should be all in one tool.
I am aware that Team Foundation Server best suits my requirement, but it is out of scope due to its cost.
I am building master page in visual studio 2005 and I have placed contentplaceholder into between <head> and </head> tag of master page, but in source view of visual studio 2005, I am getting error that says "unrecognized tag prefix or device filter" how do i get rid of this error or is this bug in visual studio 2005
when i opened my Visual Studio 2010 i noticed that my ajax tab was missing from my toolbox and ajax control kit too.Then i noticed even that when i create new website, there is no web.config in it and it should be.WHAT IS GOIN ON???? :/

I have VS 2008 Professional Edition.....I want to test a function like this:
public int getIdByName(string name) { var item=from x in DATAB where x.name=name select x.id; . . return idValue; }
now I test end I have:
[TestMethod()] public getIdByNameTest() { string name="Bob" int expected = 1; int actual; actual = ClassGET.getIdByName(name); Assert.AreEqual(expected, actual); Assert.Inconclusive("Verify the correctness of this test method."); }
The error in "test run" is:
Failed ......[Class]....... Test method threw exception: System.ArgumentException: The specified named connection is either not found in the configuration that is not for use with the EntityClient provider or thought is invalid
