Visual Studio :: TT Template Files Not Proper Generated In Website?

Jun 5, 2010

When I use TT files to generate code, output files within Websites ar never properly generated. The resut is always some "Chinese character garbage", and the generated extension is always .cs (whatever the given outputextension may be)Generating text files works fine in class libraries, MVC websites and other "projects".Just not in plain websites. Is this a known issue, am I forgetting some swith or doing something wrong, can or can I not fix this?UPDATE: It seems to be a problem with the Tangible T4 Editor, after uninstalling this tool, it seems to work fine. However, I've lost syntax highlighting and intellisense then.Since this is an external tool, I don't think this forum covers that scope.

Visual Studio :: What Is The Difference Between Designer Classes And T4 Template Generated Classes

Jan 11, 2010

I am new to LINQ. when we drag tables we get a dbml file and designer file.

For example DataClasses1.dbml and DataClasses1.designer.cs.

Once we have them then we can start using our LINQ Queries.

In my company project I do not see this designer files and instead there are .tt files which were used as templates to greate ABC.generated.cs files. Is this same as designer class?

Visual Studio :: Building A Project From Website Files?

Oct 30, 2010

I have been asked to do some work on a website. I downloaded all of the files and chose "open website" in Visual Studio. In the picture below you can see the file structure. When I run the project I get some errors such as "could not load type 'AdminSite.Partner.Listing" or "file project/adminmaster.master does not exist'. Now, those files are indeed there. I have noticed that within the Admin folder and the Home folder there are compiled DLLs in the bin folders. Also, there are project files within each of those folders. I've tried opening the project files and the projects only encompass the files within each of the Admin and Home directories respectively. I'm just wondering what the best way is to set up this solution. As I've done so far, by opening it as a web site, why is it not seeing the DLLs in the bin folders when I run it? Do I need to reference them somehow?

Visual Studio :: Enable .asp Files In 2010 Website Project?

Nov 11, 2010

how I can enable .asp files in a simple VS2010 Website project? For example: Start VS2010 Click "File/New Web Site..." Accept defaults Add an html file called "Test.asp" Attempt to open Test.asp (debug project with that file active) and you get the following error: "This type of page is not served. ... is not server because it has been explicitly forbidden. The extension '.asp' may be incorrect " SO, HOW DO I EXPLICITLY ALLOW IT? VS2010 is using the ASP.NET Development Server....

The web application that a company I'm doing consulting for has all the web files (.aspx, .vb, .ascx, web.config, etc.) but no .sln files or anything of that sort to open in Visual Studio and deploy the site and whatnot.

What's the best way to go about using Visual Studio to redeploy changes I make to this type of system?

Make Visual Studio Treat .htm Files Like .aspx Files?

Apr 15, 2010

I've inherited a bunch of code that has server script inside of .htm files.

On IIS, a handler mapping pumps.Htm pages though the asp.net engine.

Unfortunately, visual studio doesn't notice that they should be treated as code.

Is there any way to make VS treat .Htm files as code/aspx files?

Visual Studio :: Opening CSS Files As Text Files?

My Visual Studio 2005 program doesn't open CSS files properly - when I open them in VS, it opens them as a text file. It is annoying because if I do something wrong, it doesn't show up the error and I have to sift through it all to try and find out what is wrong. Plus it doesn't show up the hints for the attributes.
