When I click on ASP.NET configuration like it says in all the tutorails nothing happens. The web admin doesnt start in the browser. If i right click on the development server icon at the bottom it opens it but says the server has timed out?Is there anyway to fix this? becasue i cant follow any of the tutorials on membership without it
View 1 RepliesI just recently upgrade my asp.net web project from visual studio 2005 to visual studio 2010. The upgrade was successful with no problems however im missing some features with this project. The One Click Publish feature(which is greyed out) in the header area of Visual Studio 2010 and the Add Config Transforms feature which is no where to be seen when you right click on web.config. When i create a new web project straight from visual studio 2010, these options work fine.

Im using VS2010 Beta2. In its default new asp.net application we have the register.aspx page and there is a button called create user. But i am unable to get to the button click event of it since the whole pagecontent is being selected when i go to design view.

When I try to click on the Design button or the Split button, the whole IDE freezes.
I tried to reinstall several times, without success.
According to some another post I read, this problem is related to the Web Authoring tool. I followed the indications given and tried to repair the Web Authoring tool with no success.
I tried to reinstall the whole thing with the McAfee Anti Virus disabled. No change.
when trying to start this in Visual Studio 2010 express I dont get any window of this tool. I wonder why, something seems to be happening as I see two new tray icons. But I cant change anything. I am on a Windows 7 64bit machine. I havent done anything besides installing Visual Web Developer Express 2010.

My Question is, i want to load the VS solution with minimal files, .NET Stuff only (Master pages, UserControls, Js etc). Is there any way to unpin a complete folder? I can not see any option to pin unpin folder in VS 2010 or VS 2008

I'm rather new at ASP.NET programming.I want to experiment with putting up to a live site. GoDaddy gives you free hosting if you get the URL from them. The catch is the hosting only supports IIS 7.0 with .Net 2.0/3.0/3.5. I've uploaded all kinds of plain websites with no problem. So in Visual

I have tried on my own, but I am apparently doing something incorrectly or incompletely, as I have several different problems with my current deployment. I am using visual studio 2005 (and team explorer 2005) with tfs 2008. I have installed both Visual Studio 2005 SP1 and VS80sp1-KB932544-X86-ENU.exe.
I perform the following steps:
Select Project->ASP.NET Configuration within Visual Studio 2005. Within Visual Studio 2005, attempt to perform either a check-in or a checkout.
The following happens:
The local server started by Visual Studio starts closing itself. I suspect it is crashing; the systray icons are not properly disposed of. It then reopens itself. It does this over and over again, maybe once every second or two. The TFS progress meter doesn't even budge, it just sits there. Canceling out of the checkout does not work; it says it is cancelling and does nothing.

View 1 RepliesI have created an application directory in IIS and specified its physical location in my harddrive. im trying to create a new Http-based website in Visual Studio 2008 but im unable to assign it to that application directory because in the "choose a location" dialog I cant view that application directory under my default web site directory. can someone tell me why? is it because visual studio doesnt have permission to access it. if that is the case how can I edit the permissions of that application directory in IIS so I can allow visual studio to have access to it?

So I change a file in my project, something as basic as a web.config file. Clean and build the solution then Publish to a file system. No errors, goes through all the directories, but when I check the production site, the files are not being updated.What could cause this, and how does one fix it?

If I type the url (localhost:port) in the browser, I get the following error:
Server Error in '/asp.netwebadminfiles' Application.
HTTP Error 404 - Not Found.
and if I copy and paste the /asp.netwebadminfiles to the url (localhost:port/asp.netwebadminfiles), the page loads with the following message:

So I have visual studio solution, it contains several projects, It was done by other. one of them is asp.net web application. others are data access and business logic C# projects.
When I open solution and want to view web pages from asp.net web application I get error
Server Error in '/WebApp' Application.
HTTP Error 404 - Not Found.
Version Information: ASP.NET Development Server 9.0.0.0
I tried to change startup options including startup page and so on but it doesn't show any page...

I also tried to change paths in web config
I created a local copy of my website, so I could work on it in Visual Studio 2010. I am using a SQL membership provider that is running on discountAsp.net's SQL Server 2008 R2. The website works fine online, but when I run the website from Visual Studio, I can't log in. It's strange because if I open up my website in Visual Studio I can still use my admin pages to add and delete users, view users info, change passwords, etc., but I just can't get authenticated. This just makes it hard to test my pages that are restricted to certain users and roles.
