Jul 28, 2010I just recently upgrade my asp.net web project from visual studio 2005 to visual studio 2010. The upgrade was successful with no problems however im missing some features with this project. The One Click Publish feature(which is greyed out) in the header area of Visual Studio 2010 and the Add Config Transforms feature which is no where to be seen when you right click on web.config. When i create a new web project straight from visual studio 2010, these options work fine.

If i right click on the development server icon at the bottom it opens it but says the server has timed out?Is there anyway to fix this? becasue i cant follow any of the tutorials on membership without it

Apr 21, 2010Just started using VS2010. It automatically picked up that I had the Ajax Toolkit but I've discovered there is no 'Add Extender' option when you right-click a control. You can drag and drop the extenders into code view but that's far less convenient.

May 4, 2010This is the first time i am experiencing vs 2010 hangs up when clicked on .sql file. I am using intel core 1.8Ghz with 2.24Gb of RAM. It work file with other project. We need to end the task to stop running. I have installed only Visual C# Items.The problem happens when i create a new project 1. file new project2. Under Visual C# Items Click on windows 3. Click on empty project4. Then i am trying to add .sql file but cannot find it.5. so i use add WinScript1.wsf and rename it to tblABC.sql 6. When i double click on tblABC.sql it hangs7. I need to end the task to stop working.

Feb 13, 2010I recently downloaded Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2008 Express Edition.
When I try to click on the Design button or the Split button, the whole IDE freezes.
I tried to reinstall several times, without success.
According to some another post I read, this problem is related to the Web Authoring tool. I followed the indications given and tried to repair the Web Authoring tool with no success.
I tried to reinstall the whole thing with the McAfee Anti Virus disabled. No change.

Feb 18, 2011I have installed VS2010 ultimate and have read with interest about the new publish options, config transformations but none of them are available. I have tried creating different release versions and cannot see the option, also have no new options for publish, just look like the VS2008 ones.
Is there some service pack or pack that i need to install these or does it sound like a reinstall?

Jun 11, 2010My VS 2008 Design button is broken, i.e. I click on it an nothing happens. I've rebooted, restarted, reinstalled VS, installed VS 2008 sp1 - nothing fixes this! Getting ready to try dynamite.
Then when I close VS it crashes, i.e. i get the message "visual studio is not responding and needs to restart".

Aug 3, 2010I have one dot net application giving me grief. The Start Arrow button is disabled. Also, the Debug --- Start option is disabled as is the Debug --- Start Without Debugging option. It runs fine from IIS and if I right click and view in browser. It is only this one appliction. I got a fresh version from VSS and no better.

Dec 29, 2010One button I always had on the 'HTML Source Editing' toolbar was Format Document, as found in the Edit menu, however in VS2010 it isn't visible. If I go to add it, it doesn't exist in the options.The toolbar currently holds Format Selection, Decrease Indent, Increase Indent, Comment, Uncomment, Schema and accessibility.I bring up the Customize dialogue box (Add or Remove Buttons/Customize), then in the Commands tab I click Add Command... In the Add Command dialogue box, I choose Edit from the categories list on the right and yet in the commands list, Format Document isn't there anymore as it was in VS2008.Yes I could just use the Edit menu command, or even the keyboard shortcut, but that's too long-winded and the toolbar button is now sorely missed.Has this been somewhat arbitrarily removed from VS 2010 or is it hidden elsewhere?

Mar 9, 2010Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2 locked up, and when I tried to restart it, it wouldn't load, so I did a devenv.exe /resetuserdata to get it going again. It reset everyhing in my options of the web app/ etc, and now some AJAX conrols don't work such as dragpanel. I assume that it is because something got reset that I haven't enabled again, but can't figure it out.

Having used Visual Studio Team Edition 2005, unit testing each method within VS itself. I strongly believe that it is feasible to add-on tools. Example ankhsvn tool to use SVN from Visual studio [URL]
In my investigating i have come across number of tools(shown below) to use with Visual Studio 2008 professional
Development tool:- Visual Studio 2008 professional using Subversion as source control tool. Continuous Integration:- Hudson or Cruise control Build tool:- NAnt Testing:- NUnit, Selinium As Visual Studio 2008 can be used for unit testing I think NUnit is out of consideration.
In the same way i would like to have any other tools/add-ons to Visual studio to implement continuous integration, building and unit testing. This process should be automated such a way source code between team members is continuously integrated, built and unit testing is done as configured.
Objective is to use few number of tools as add-on to Visual Studio or achieve most from Visual studio itself (example unit testing). Visual Studio should be all in one tool.
I am aware that Team Foundation Server best suits my requirement, but it is out of scope due to its cost.
