Mar 14, 2011I have a solution with some projects. There are several break-points in different projects. I want to trace the first thread hit one of these break-points and continue tracing that single thread despite of other threads entering the same code-blocks.
I know this is possible through defining a condition on the break-point i.e, thread name = ... or thread Id = ... but my case is a heavy loaded asp.net application and as soon as I attach to w3wp.exe many threads will hit the break-points. I need some thing like a ThreadLocal<break-point>.

Nov 24, 2010I'm new to threading and have used it successfully, but limited. I can spawn a thread and have the main thread reference variables in the spawned thread, but I don't know how to allow the spawned thread to reference (and update) variables in the main thread.
Any example threading code I've seen on the web appears to be WAY more complicated than what I do, so I am unable to understand or integrate into my code.

which returns the identity of the security context of the currently executing Win32 thread.

which returns the principal of the currently executing .NET thread which rides on top of the Win32 thread.

Jun 25, 2010I have a password page and when someone enters an incorrect password I want to simply foil a brute force attack by having

I would expect that this would allow all correct passwords without stalling, but if one user enters a bad password another successful password from a different user would also be blocked. However, the lock doesn't seem to lock across ASP.NET threads.

May 15, 2010i have to do some message exchange with a 3rd party (in a website).When the client posts a page, i start the message exchange. When that doesn't succeed for some reason, i report this to the client by rendering the page with a message.On the background, in a separate thread, i start a process to send abort messages to the 3rd party. I can't do this while the user is waiting for the page to come back, because it might take a few minutes.But in a test project, the test ends when the message to the 3rd party is sent, and after the new thread is started. But it seems that the new thread also ends, when the test is done.
Is that normal behaviour?I do start the thread in a new class with a reference to 2 objects from the class which tries to send the message in the first place, may that be a problem?EDIT: it keeps running when the whole process is started in IIS

Dec 21, 2010Basically what I am trying to do is have my webpage project folder located directly on my local machine (ex. Local #1). Our database is located on a server (ex. Server #1) . I am building my web applications on my local machine and then trying to debug them in Visual Studio 2008. Only every single time I click to debug my project I get a "Security Exception" error that looks something like the following...
"Description: The application attempted to perform an operation not allowed by the security policy. To grant this application the required permission please contact your system administrator or change the application's trust level in the configuration file.
Exception Details: System.Security.SecurityException: Request for the permission of type 'System.Web.AspNetHostingPermission, System, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed."
I'm somewhat leaning towards the fact that I need to connect to the database to pull information from it and I don't have the proper permissions is the reason why this is happening but I've also read that it can be something that deals with improper configuration of my Web.Config file (i.e. I do not have something enabled).
Note #1: A co-worker of mine is having the same problem if he tries to put the project locally and then debug it. He has full administrative access to the DB and everything else.

Jan 12, 2010I have recently installed VS2008 standard edition after using VS2008 express and VS2010 Express (on this same laptop) running Windows 7 Build 7100.
On clicking "Debug" the error appears:
"Unable to start program

The debugger is not properly installed. Cannot debug the requested type of code. Run setup to install or repair the debugger."
This is for a Web Site - File System originally created in VS2008 express.

It started lastnight, I had both Deamweaver and VWD 2008 express open at the same time - (I was looking at JQuery in the Microsoft and Dreamweaver enviroments simultaniously). After the first tie this happened, I closed down Dreamweaver (CS3) and it opened when I tried to run my VWD project. I reinstalled VWD 2008 express, IIS and disabled Dreamweaver (renamed the exe). Dreamweaver still came up.

When I move this project to the x64 machine, the same assemblies are located in C:Program Files (x86)....
