Visual Studio :: How To Drag And Drop Fields Of Table In The Design Surface
Sep 25, 2010
I am followint the insructions of this walkthrough of VS2003
[URL]
and in a part say this 8 Find the authors node and expand it to show the fields in the authors table. 9 Using CTRL+Click, select the au_id, au_lname, au_fname, and city fields. 10 Drag these fields from Server Explorer onto the design surface Now i am using VS2008
When i try to drag and drop i can not made it is maybe because of the differences between 2003 and 2008 versions
I installed the AJAX Toolkit (for .NET4) onto a new Toolbox tab in Visual Studio 2010. However, when I try to drag any of these controls onto my Web form in design mode, they won't stick. My mouse pointer changes to 'disabled' (a circle with a diagonal line thru the middle) as soon as it hovers anywhere over my target form. Is there some additional action I need to take to make VS "recognize" these AJAX Toolkit controls?
When i drag my table into any asp page inside the Visual Web Developer aspx page, Nothing happen, Even there is no datasource or gridView it just the blank page i created.
I tried to create new web forms and all same results i got.
I need to do a drag n drop for table cell. I need every feature of Ajax ReorderList such as when item 2 is drag to position no 3, item no 3 will be automatically goto position 2. However i need every item in Ajax ReorderList .
I have try many ways in trying it such as using customized tool: Telerik (RAdGrid,Scheduler), DevExpress , ComponentGo! and also PilotScheduler but all does not fullfill the business requirement. May be the requirement for solution is too rigid. Below is my table design
Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2 locked up, and when I tried to restart it, it wouldn't load, so I did a devenv.exe /resetuserdata to get it going again. It reset everyhing in my options of the web app/ etc, and now some AJAX conrols don't work such as dragpanel. I assume that it is because something got reset that I haven't enabled again, but can't figure it out.
I work with Visual studio 2005 and Sql server data base. I extract 1 million rows from a database and I put the rows in a Sql table. With a simple direct extraction, in a few minutes I complete the operation:
Dim cmd As New SqlCommand(query, cnSql) cmd.ExecuteNonQuery() cmd.Dispose().
But, if I must select and modify some fields between extraction and introduction, it takes a lot of time! I work in this way. I extract rows from Dbase, Table1, and I put all into a Collection using dataReader:
Dim cmd As New SqlCommand(query, cnSql) Dim coll As New Collection coll.Clear() Dim dr As SqlDataReader = cmd.ExecuteReader() I replace some fields with the string "YES". Dim toRepl As String = "" If dr.HasRows Then Do While dr.Read toRepl = dr(5).ToString If Len(toRepl) <= 3 Then ToRepl = "YES" collPrel.Add(dr(0).ToString) collPrel.Add(dr(1).ToString) .................. .............. collPrel.Add(toRepl) collCount = collCount + 1 Loop End If dr.Close() cmd.Dispose() Now, I insert all into a SQL Table2: Dim a As String = "", b As String = "", c As String = "" etc. For i = 1 To collPrel.Count Step 6 a = collPrel.Item(i).ToString b = collPrel.Item(i + 1).ToString .............. ............... f = collPrel.Item(i + 5).ToString queryIns = "INSERT INTO Tab (name, adress, etc) VALUES ('" & a & "', '" & b & "', '" & c & "', etc. ) Dim cmdIns As New SqlCommand(queryIns, cnSql) cmdIns.CommandTimeout = 600 cmdIns.ExecuteNonQuery() cmdIns.Dispose() Next
This way to work goes right but it is necessary a lot of time for completing the operation.
can't connect to sql 2005 express sp1 and vs is also sp1. 2) Which my guess is because of the database connection not being able... design view is not able to pull in the application for design, it's as if there is no theme and css just white background and black print.
I am using Visual Web Developer 2008 Express Edition to develop an Asp.Net project in C#. I am working on debugging the code-behind for a web form.
I am able to set a breakpoint and the debugger stops at the line. I can step through the code fine. When I hover the mouse pointer over the yellow arrow, it says "To change which statement is executed next, drag the arrow". However, I cannot drag the arrow to the previous line or the next line. What needs to be done to enable this?
I want to see the design view while I am designing a site in ASP.NET using visual studio 2010 Ultimate, but I wondered there is no such option as design as there were in VS 2005 or VS 2008.
[URL] normally in the attached red portion below supposed to contain a option to switch to design view. But there is nothing ..
how to do this.or is there any template that one can use for the following-
using visual studio to design questions and answers with outcome of the grade immediately after submition and with timing.
For example, having questions 1 to 10, providing options like A, B, C,D, then let students choose from the right answer from the questions, then, after submition, an outcome of grade is displayed based on the right answer.
My VS 2008 Design button is broken, i.e. I click on it an nothing happens. I've rebooted, restarted, reinstalled VS, installed VS 2008 sp1 - nothing fixes this! Getting ready to try dynamite.
Then when I close VS it crashes, i.e. i get the message "visual studio is not responding and needs to restart".
Visual Studio ( VSTS 2008 ) design mode work good for long time and from about 2 weeks ago it's suddenly stop view any thing in design mode i tried a lot with trying in another projects even in a simple web page but no way it's doesn't view any thing in design mode ... I think to reinstall VS 2008 again but I don't know if is there any outher solution for that ?
As far I know this is not supported for asp.net projects. It's quite handy for testing static/shared functions.any info if this will be available in future versions? Or if there are any alternative ways to test your functions in design mode?
This error only happens when I launch an existing application, if I create a new app the error does not appear on that site. However if I try to enter Design mode the Windows Installer opens and hangs. I can still edit the code and even launch the app.
If I click "OK", I get a dialog box that starts a Windows Installer that does not install anything, it justs sits there. If I "cancel" the installer, VWDE dies.
The only thing different on my laptop is that I had Office 2007 Trial installed along side Office 2003 before I installed VWD, I then uninstalled the trial and used the clean-up tool at [URL] to clean up the trial.
I have tried to repair VWDE, I have uninstalled and reinstalled VWDE with no change. Ialso have VB Express running and get no errors when launching it.
I want to know whether we have any new features or Framework related to UI design (like webparts) or any othere items which is introduced with the VS2010 for new way of desiging the Aspx page.
When I'm in Design View I can't scroll down to the bottom of some of my pages. I've scrolled down as far as I can and the bottom is cut off. This doesn't happen on all the pages. I tried increasing the height for the ContentPlaceHolder.
I am using VWD 2008 Express and the fonts are really small (actually smaller than that and unreadable) in the Design view. I cannot find any way to make them larger.
i'm quite a newb in asp.net , so here we go:i used the dreamspark project in order to get VS 2008 pro (free and legal) , and then i started experiencing with asp.net .the problem is that whenever i choose the split mode, it doesn't go there at all, and whenever i choose the 'design' mode, the tab itself is frozen yet it's possible to close it. it doesn't matter what the file (with the aspx extention) has in it (even a new blank website) , it always happen.i've tried to re-install VS2008 (after uninstallation&restart) and i also tried to uninstall anything related to dot net (and then install what is needed again through the installer of VS2008) . i even tried out the express version but it didn't work for me.
In the Source view has code. as I was coding and refreshed the split view (.ascx) it when blank. The so I when to the design view its blank too. The aspx page I can see the control.
