I had something happen with my pc and had to do a system restore. This has caused some of the files in my project to be deleted. Is there a way to recover these files?
Is there anything I can do to prevent files from being deleted in the future if I ever have to do a restore again?
by mistake a .aspx and its corresponding .vb file was deleted from my project's solution explorer.Its not there in Recycle Bin too.Is there any method to recover that file ? I am using Visual Studio 2008. Win XP SP1.
View 6 RepliesI am really worried about this. I recently got hold on VS 2010. I had been working on a control when my VS 2010 crashed upon me. I terminated all of the applications that might be slowing down VS. To my horror when I restarted VS I had lost all of the coding and classes written within that control's code behind file which was SearchFilter.ascx.cs. IT shows the size of this file as 0KB. There nothing in it now. Does any one out there know how can I recover my file, it had almost over 700 lines of code. I would be really very grateful to you people out there.

I tried to install Visual Studio Prof 2010 trail version in my system, but i got an error saying 'Please remove/uninstall Visual Studio 2010 load test controller' to proceed installation. i uninstalled my previous VS2008 software from system and i could not find anything like 'Remove/Uninstall Visual Studio 2010 load test controller' software in my Add/Remove Programs.

On IIS, a handler mapping pumps.Htm pages though the asp.net engine.
Unfortunately, visual studio doesn't notice that they should be treated as code.
Is there any way to make VS treat .Htm files as code/aspx files?
My Visual Studio 2005 program doesn't open CSS files properly - when I open them in VS, it opens them as a text file. It is annoying because if I do something wrong, it doesn't show up the error and I have to sift through it all to try and find out what is wrong. Plus it doesn't show up the hints for the attributes.

View 1 RepliesI just had some issues with my computer. I ran system restore a few times and it fixed the issues. The technician at the PC repair place said he didn't know what caused it but that it was most likely an issue with the registry. System restore seems to have fixed my pc because now it runs correctly.
This created an issue with a project that I was working on in VS 2008. When I started VS it gave me a message that it was configuring itself, because this was the first time it had been run. This makes sense with what the guy told me about running system restore.
The issue is that the project I was last working on has a bunch of errors now. It had none before the PC issue but it now has 24. They pertain to the aspx.cs and the aspx.designer.cs files. They all have the same basic error which is:

I'm sure but for an individual at home writing web sites I assume I just want Visual Studio 2010 beta 2 and NOT team foundation server, right? What are the minimum system requirements to run this (no doubt beast)? I have a Lenovo laptop running ultimate Vista - and the hardware is Duo Core 2.5 Ghz, and 4 gig of Ram, is that enough of a machine? On the x86 machine, several assemblies are located in Program Files, and the path of the assemblies are shown as c:Program Files...... When I move this project to the x64 machine, the same assemblies are located in C:Program Files (x86).... In some of my new websites under .NET 4.0 my Visual Studio does not recognize System.Linq as a valid class. I need to add a reference to System.Core in Web.Config to solve this but there are projects where this is not needed.

If my views are compiled (MvcBuildViews property is true), then the build fails with this error message:

It's actually complaining about my system web.config file.
If MvcBuildViews is false, then it will run (and compile the views normally just fine).
OS: Server 2008 R2, all updates applied at time of writing.
I am trying to write a macro that accesses an XML file external to the editor.
For some reason, I am getting error messages on everything within the System.XML namespace
'Type XmlDocument is not defined'
'Type XmlTextWriter is not defined'
'Type XmlElement is not defined'
( etc... etc... etc... )
I've imported the namespace at the top of the editing context within the macro IDE:
Imports System.XML
I have also tried to reference the namespace members with a complete namespace reference:
System.XML.XmlDocument
It didn't work. It is still being indicated as undefined.
I've tested the code from within a stand-alone console app, and it works fine.
From this, am I to conclude that the System.XML namespace is not accessible from the macro facility?
Is there another option?
