I have a solution file which has 3 projects in it, which was developed in VB,VS 2003. when i am trying to open the solution file, framework is able to open the 1st and 2nd projects but for the 3rd project it was showing an error "Unable to get project file
from web server".
Whenever i run the project this problem occur Can any one give me solution. should i have to delete webdev.webserver.exe and install another is this the right solution for my problem.

I currenty have a project hosted on our server, when i open that project folder i see about half of the folders i should normally see, i dont see the Controllers folder, Properties folder, obj folder, as well as the csproj file. Before I could copy this same folder and put it on my laptop and after it brought all of them over it would show these folders. Now it wont, it just copies over what it sees, not the other folders...I'm trying to create a copy on my laptop that I can work on then publish it to the server...I was able to do this before just fine, now its not copying/generating the necessary folders/files to my comp
View 2 RepliesI started working on an Asp.net MVC website using Visual Web Developer Express 2008 a while ago. Just recently, I managed to get my hands on a copy of Visual Studio 2008 Professional (through DreamSpark ). I installed the Service Pack, and also the MVC2 files for Visual Studio.
However, now I can't open my project anymore. When I try to open the solution in Visual Studio, it tells me that the project type is not supported. Does this mean that I have to resort to using VWD Express again? Is there perhaps some way that I can edit the project file so that it will load and compile correctly?
Note: I installed MVC2 through the Web Platform Installer, and it says that it installed successfully. However, I notice that MVC references in my unit-test project don't seem to be resolved either - is this perhaps because MVC2 isn't actually installed properly?

i'm trying an example by trying to creating two projects in one solution to seperate logic and UI. so let's say test.logic and test.ui
in test.ui i have a page called lets say contact me. in the code behind for this page i want to call a method that belongs in a class called processData in test.logic
in contact me cs i tried something like:

but that does not work as class/method not shown in intellisense.
I excluded a file(i.e . a WorkFlow file) from my project. The file got removed from the Solution Explorer, But it was in the directory where the project was saved. Can anyone please tell me how the file can be included again.

I copied all source code from another computer. but on another computer can debug just fine.All that different is where the source file is located. so I think it should have some config in studio that tell where the source file is.
I have a post build event that combines my JavaScript files and outputs to Production.js, however if Production.js is not checked out, the build fails. I have tried it with the CSS file defined in the Site.Master file as relative (,,/,,/xx.css) and full path (e.g. c:....) I get the same error in both cases and I am unable to edit the CSS file.

View 3 RepliesI'm getting "Cannot connect to ASP.NET development server" almost every time I stop the ASP.NET server before restarting the project in debug mode. It can take between 15 seconds and 2 minutes to get the error message, and Visual Studio is frozen.
Sometimes I get three in a row, and I have to wait 2 minutes each time, or go into Task Manager and kill to process. Then I have to start Visual Studio 2010 again, which is at least three times slower than Visual Studio 2008 to open.
It's *extremely* annoying. I know I don't have to close the server if the code has changed, but sometimes I simply want to restart my website in debug mode (there is a cache on most web service calls, so this clears the cache). A workaround is to add "foo" code to a class and restart the project.
I'm running Visual Studio 2010 Professional on Windows Server 2008. I'm running the Visual Studio Power Tools too, with the latest update.
Anyone know if I can maintain a VS 2008 (.net 3.5) project by using the VS 2010 IDE ?

If we manually do this by an ftp connection, it works fine. But we wanted to do it also by the publsh option in Visual Studio 2010. But when we do this we got the following error.

Best way to describe my issue with vs 2010.create a new website. create the App_Code folder. create a new class in the folder. put the line "x" in the class declaration. hit compile. And the website will compile with no errors. It's not "seeing" this new class as being part of the project best I can tell.

I converted my 2008 Web Projects to 2010 Projects, so the database project also converted to 2010 and changed the project file extentions.
Even though i didn't change anything in database project, each time when i open the project in Visual Studio the .dbmdl file is changing, i can't see what is changing in side it, i have to commit this change each time into Source Control.
I'm attempting to run/debug an ASP.NET MVC project under .NET 4.0 using VS2010's Dev Web Server. The server appears to spawn successfully and an instance of IE Explorer opens. However, the browser never seems to find the page. The browser just "spins" showing only a white page...no error message.VS is configured to randomly select a port, although I get the same results when configuring numerous static ports.The ASP.NET project is the start-up project.
