I would like to publish our MVC project to the server where we want to put our mvc website via ftp.
If we manually do this by an ftp connection, it works fine. But we wanted to do it also by the publsh option in Visual Studio 2010. But when we do this we got the following error.

I'm trying to publish my mvc3 project to a web host server, I right clicked my project and selected publish, there i entered the ftp information, VS2010 uploaded the files to the ftp, but when i try to surf to the remote site i get an error "Directory Listing Denied". all guides I found requierd an installation on the web host side, is there no way to just upload the site like in classic asp?

The host (DiscountASP.NET) using VS2008 Publish to upload a project. VS2008 displays the alert that the password will pass in the clear. So ... what is the best practices approach to publishing a project?
1. SSL/FTP (not sure of the implications re: site compilation)

View 7 RepliesMy colleague and I are both using VS 2010 and we have created a web application each. We can both publish our own applications to a ftp (web host's) and it works fine. However, if my colleague send me his solution and I run it locally on my machine it works but when I try to publish it I get promped for password and I enter it (same as I use for my application) but it fails. Same for my colleague if he takes a copy of my solution and tries to publish it.
View 1 RepliesI just recently upgrade my asp.net web project from visual studio 2005 to visual studio 2010. The upgrade was successful with no problems however im missing some features with this project. The One Click Publish feature(which is greyed out) in the header area of Visual Studio 2010 and the Add Config Transforms feature which is no where to be seen when you right click on web.config. When i create a new web project straight from visual studio 2010, these options work fine.

I'm trying to publish my ASP.NET web application in Visual Studio 2010. I'm then trying to install it as a website on a server using IIS. I've gotten my application to publish (to a .zip file) but it points to the physical directory on my hard drive. This obviously will not work on the server.
View 3 RepliesI'm getting "Cannot connect to ASP.NET development server" almost every time I stop the ASP.NET server before restarting the project in debug mode. It can take between 15 seconds and 2 minutes to get the error message, and Visual Studio is frozen.
Sometimes I get three in a row, and I have to wait 2 minutes each time, or go into Task Manager and kill to process. Then I have to start Visual Studio 2010 again, which is at least three times slower than Visual Studio 2008 to open.
It's *extremely* annoying. I know I don't have to close the server if the code has changed, but sometimes I simply want to restart my website in debug mode (there is a cache on most web service calls, so this clears the cache). A workaround is to add "foo" code to a class and restart the project.
I'm running Visual Studio 2010 Professional on Windows Server 2008. I'm running the Visual Studio Power Tools too, with the latest update.
Anyone know if I can maintain a VS 2008 (.net 3.5) project by using the VS 2010 IDE ?

I'm attempting to run/debug an ASP.NET MVC project under .NET 4.0 using VS2010's Dev Web Server. The server appears to spawn successfully and an instance of IE Explorer opens. However, the browser never seems to find the page. The browser just "spins" showing only a white page...no error message.VS is configured to randomly select a port, although I get the same results when configuring numerous static ports.The ASP.NET project is the start-up project.
