WCF / ASMX :: Calling Java Webservice From C#
Dec 9, 2010
I need to call a Java webservice from my ASP.Net application. The webservice uses Java Key Store (JKS) certificate. Could some one help me with how I could do this? As a side note, when I try to add Web Reference or Service Reference to my Visual Studio project by providing the WSDL, Visual Studio always crashes.

I am using Asp.Net application for calling an existing Java webservice. Recently the web service is configured with Security certificates. Now I need to call the webservice using "https:URL .." and by passing the credentials i.e. UserId and Password.
When I call the webservice using [URL] I get the below error. Is the change in my code is causing this error?
Error:Client found response content type of 'text/html; charset=iso-8859-1', but expected 'text/xml'. The request failed with the error message: --
500 Internal Server Error
Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. contact the server administrator, you@your.address and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error. More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Here's my problem: I have an asp.net app that invokes a java/axis based webservice through a wsdl file provided by my customer. But, as i had no access to this webservice at the dev time, i've created a fake .net based webservice, with the same methods, returning some valid data, so i'd be able to test the integration interface. The problem is, when i add the service reference on my app, pointing to my fake webservice (.net), it's class has a certain name, and when i point it to my customer's wsdl file, it's class has a different name. Generated class name when i add the service reference by:
- .NET fake webservice = "TransferenciaEndpointSoapClient"
- wsdl file of the java/axis webservice = "TransferenciaEndpointClient"
I want the class i've created in my fake webservice to keep the same name of the wsdl, when i add the service reference on my app. I tried to add a "web reference" instead of a "service reference", but it did not work. I also tried to change the name of the class on the "Reference.cs" file, it works on my environment, but it doesn't when i put the generated bin on my customer's environment. I'd like to solve this without having to create a java/axis based fake webservice.

Well i dont have an error but would like to get some guidance on this. I have a webservice that calls a class. The Class translates numbers to figures i.e. 4000 will return a string 'Four Thousand Shillings'. So what i actually want is how i can do my processing
backwards so that in the service i call the class's method to return a string so that i put the results on a Text property of a Label Control while i type each figure in a TextBox Control.
i.e. if i type 4 in my text box, i should see 'Four in my label', then 40 will return 'Fourty Shillings', then 400 will return 'Four hundred'

How do I protect a webservice if it is called from ajax ?
Update: I realize that my question didn't reflect what I intended to ask. I don't want user to be able to do the request by pointing to it with its webbrowser but only in the context of my app.

I have web service (.NET 2.0), in this i have added proxy class of my client's web service. Client's web service is in Java. I have to pass SOAP requet in following format
<soap:Envelope xmlns:soap="[URL]xmlns:xsd="[URL]xmlns:xsi="[URL]instance">
<soap:Header>
<AuthenticationToken xmlns="[URL]
<Username xmlns="[URL]XXX</Username>
<Password xmlns="[URL]YYY</Password>
</AuthenticationToken>
</soap:Header>
<soap:Body>
</soap:Body></soap:Envelope>
for this i have written following code but it's giving error as "Request must include authentication token"
-- code start--
public class WebService : System.Web.Services.WebService {
public WebService () {
//Uncomment the following line if using designed components
//InitializeComponent();
}
public MyHeader AuthenticationToken = new MyHeader();
public MyHeader MyHeader
{
get { return AuthenticationToken; }
set { AuthenticationToken = value; }
}
[WebMethod]
[SoapHeader("AuthenticationToken")]
public string HelloWorldTest1()
{
AuthenticationToken .Password = "username";
AuthenticationToken .Username = "password";
ClientWebServices s1 = new ClientWebServices();
string soapbody="";
string res=s1.addmethod(soapbody);
return res;
}// end of method
} //end of service class
public class MyHeader : SoapHeader
{
public string Username;
public string Password;
}
-- code end--

I was wondering if anything special is required to add a .NET web services to the "Services" tab in NetBeans to allow my java app to consume a .NET web service. I go and add my WSDL (simple method, 1 operation, takes a string), and I continuously get a NullReferenceError as below:
java.lang.NullPointerException
at org.netbeans.modules.websvc.saas.model.wsdl.impl.WsdlModel.getServices(WsdlModel.java:65)
at org.netbeans.modules.websvc.saas.wsdl.websvcmgr.WebServiceManager.addWebService(WebServiceManager.java:142)
at org.netbeans.modules.websvc.saas.wsdl.websvcmgr.WsdlDataManagerImpl$1.run(WsdlDataManagerImpl.java:79)
at org.openide.util.RequestProcessor$Task.run(RequestProcessor.java:1418)
[catch] at org.openide.util.RequestProcessor$Processor.run(RequestProcessor.java:1957)
Is this something common? I'm using Netbeans 6.9.1 and yes, the webservice is a stub that takes a string and displays a static message right now.

I am having a scenario, where i need to decode ASP.NET FormsAuthentication Cookie in other language to accomplish Single Sign-On.
I am having a ASP.NET website, that also has WCF Authentication service. But I have just come know that even Java and PHP Application are also going to use my Authentication Gateway to authenticate user and so enable Single Sing-On.
I am done with the same in .NET application but to perform same in non-.NET techs, I need to decode FormsAuthentication Cookie of browser. FormsAuthentication Cookie are Encrypted so there must exist a algorithm that can decode it or a kind of dll that I can load in Java and read it.

I have almost the same problem as you have described in [URL] service. I have a asp.net webservice that calls a WCF service. On my development machine this is working fine. But if i deploy my ASP.net Webservice it is not working. Both the ASP Webservice en WCF service needs my cridentials. How did you solved your problem. In the logging of the WCF service I see that my credentials is not passing to WCF.

$(this).hide();

$("#sortable input[type=text]").mouseout(function () {
$(this).parent().children("label").show().html($(this).val());
$(this).hide();

$(".ContainerDiv").hover(
function () {
$(this).find(".deleteClass").show();

</div>
</div>
</li>
</ItemTemplate>
</asp:ListView>
<input type="button" id="orderPhoto" value="Save change" />
</form>
</body>
</html>
I used the debugging tool and can confirm that the photos contains the correct values. Its just calling the webservice part that I am unsure about.

I'm trying to call an asp.net webservice from the same project it's in:
[MethodImpl(MethodImplOptions.Synchronized)]
public static void OnFileCreated(object source, FileSystemEventArgs e) {
trackdata_analyse rWebAnalyse = new trackdata_analyse();
rWebAnalyse.Analyse(@"pending" + e.Name, "YOUNIVATE");
}
However i always get the following "HttpContext is not available. This class can only be used in the context of an ASP.NET request." when calling Server.MapPath from the webservice:
[WebMethod]
public int Analyse(string fileName, string PARSING_MODULE){
int nRecords;
TrackSession rTrackSession = new TrackSession() ;
string filePath = Server.MapPath(@"..data") + fileName;
Do i have to add the WebReference instead, though the webservice is in the same project?

I have a hardtime to consume this web service as Web Reference or Service Reference: [URL] I'm using VS2010 and when I consume it as Web Reference, I can't use its method because in the reference.cs, it has these errrors:
// CODEGEN: The operation binding 'getStationCharacteristicSummary' from namespace '[URL]was ignored. The encoding '' is not supported.
If i consume it as WCF, then each time I call the service, it complained the encoding error. May someone try to consume it and help me with this.

I have spent a couple of days on this one. I have an ASP.NET website that has Linkbuttons on
the Default.aspx page.. I added a WebService to the Website because later on the WebService will
subscribe to a Provider(Feed) of News, Sports and Weather and things like that. So when a Linkbutton
on the Default.aspx page is clicked it will connect to the link in the WebService which will load the News,
Sports or Weather onto the Default.aspx web page.
The problem is I can't get the LinkButton to execute the Link in the WebService. The link will call the page up
to where you see all of the Web References. But then if you want to execute one of those references you
have to click its link and the Invoke button that will follow. My questioh is how can the link on my Default.aspx
page execute the link in the WebService. Now I changed the LinkButton into an <a href> but I still can't execute
the link in the WebServices. I always use www.Microsoft.com as the link when testing and I wasn't sure about the return type
so I put "void" for an HTTPRequest, so below is the link from the Default.aspx web page and below that is he asmx file:
[code]....
