WCF / ASMX :: Service1 Call From Another Service2 Not Working
Oct 4, 2010
We have a requirement to call a WCF service from another WCF Service. To test this I build a sample console application to display a simple string. The setup is: Console App -> WCF Service 1 -> WCF Service 2 Console App calls a method of service 1 and the service 1 method eventually calls service 2 method to return a string. I am able to call Console -> Service 1 but Service 1 -> Service 2 is not working. It throws an exception: "Could not find default endpoint element that references contract 'ITestService2' in the ServiceModel client configuration section. This might be because no configuration file was found for your application, or because no endpoint element matching this contract could be found in the client element." To accomplish this,
1. I have created a service2, compiled and then created a proxy class and app.config.
2. I created service1, copied service2.cs(proxy) and app.config, created an object of service2 and called service2's menthod.
3. I created a console application, copied the service1.cs (proxy) and app.config, called service1's method.
Do I need to specify any link in app.config of service1 to service2? but how? the app.config files for service1 and service2 are:
I have a class MyLookUpValue. And I have Two Services e.g. Service1 and Service2. Same class is used in both services. But when I Get Object of MyLookUpValue from Service2 class on my client application its name space is different from Service 1 class.
I have a simple web service that isn't working with a standard jQuery call. The code is below. The jQuery will execute and succeed, but on debugging, the service argument is always null. I've had it separated as 4 string params in a json string and that didn't work either. I must be missing something on the config side, but I can tell what it is.
if i have the web application with many pages like add order page, edit order page, and delete order page actually they also interact with the Sql Server 2008 and i also create web service page call Sales_Service.asmx. i know just i need to put something like query into Web Method in Sales_Service.asmx but i have a lot of queries, i don't know which query i should put into it and how the web page call the Sales_Services.asmx
How to call Synchronous service call for combo boxes? As I know Synchronous calls do not create a good user experience because the application is hung waiting for the Web service call to return. Then it is my requirement.
I have a .net app developed in .net 4.0 version. And I implemented an asmx web service in this. Now I want to call one of the webservice method in another classis ASP application java script function.
I have a project that was originally created in VS2005 using .net 2.0. I currently have win 7 machine and vs2008. When I try to compile the application it comes back saying that I am missing an assembly Web.Services2 Besides upgrading to 3.5 and having to rebuild most of the web services.
I need to download a file from a website to my specified folder and use in my asp.net application. The file is update everyday and i need to pull the latest file.
n my A.aspx, I will call web method GetName in B.asmx
Is it possible, before my A.aspx call GetName in B.asmx, I inject or put some codes so when A.aspx try to call the method, it needs to go through my injected code without even changing the code in A.aspx and B.asmx?
Is custom HttpModule able to handle this scenario? If yes, how? Which HttpModule's event that occurred before the page actually called the web service?
Need to see how long a web service method takes to comlete. Ideas? The call is being made from a windows client. Also need to see how much memory that particular web method consumes, cpu useage etc.
Should I look at perfmon? Then filter for a particular web service name?
I know almost nothing about coding in .NET and XML and web services.I need to call a web service and pass it a structured XML statement and catch the return from the web service.I have no idea where to start except I think I am suppose to create a new 2008 VB.NET ASP Web Service App. After that I have no clue. Here is a copy of the bindingattribute I think I need but do not know how to use it: (I think it is correct)
I also have the xml statement I want to test with. I need to send it and recieve the response. I am pretty sure the web service is using SOAP and I know the XML will have to be wrapped in a SOAp wrapper but I have been told .NET will do that for me.
I'm working on an existing web application (web site project and some class library projects). In the web site project, the guys created many web services, that are called from the aspx pages (sometimes on client side).
I need to create a new web service, so I was suggested to put it "near" the existing web services. I'm gonna need to make an asynchronous call to my new web services.
So I created the service this way, but when I try calling a method asynchronisly, I have only the method in intellisense, I don't have the method for the asynchronous call, neither the Complete event. Why is that ?
On the other hand, I created a new project, with a web service application and a web site where I added the reference to the web service, and this way I have the asynchronous method and the complete event in intellisense.
We have two application created one for webservice and other application will call the methoddefined in webservice .The problem is we want to add webservice in our application dynamically
I created a simple test web service. It was tested and migrated to a website.
I then create a website to utilize the web service I have just created.
I created a web reference to the web service via URL. WDE2008 created a sub folder in the 'Web References' folder in my project folder. Everything looks OK at this point. I was able to code the call to the web service function with no compile errors.
I ran the web page locally via LOCALHOST and everything worked the way I expected.
Well, it works on the localhost so I decided to move it to the website where it should be...
I copied the ASPX page and codebehind to a sub folder of the website. I also created a folder called App_WebReferences in the website root folder and copied the WSDL and DISCO files from my project there...
Now, here comes the problem... I got this error when I tried to pull up the web page! This is weird because it worked on my machine. I'm sure I'm missing something here.
Do I need to create any other folders on the website and hold WSDL and DISCO files because I'm sure the website needs some kind of mapping info to go get the web service!
I searched everywhere on the Internet trying to find any information about deploying the web page... but it is to my surprise, I could NOT find anything relevant to this. Everything I found was how to create web services and... run them on the localhost!!!
Compiler Error Message: BC30002: Type 'contact.ARLWSContact.ContactInfo' is not defined.
I need to call remote web services for example [URL]. So how to do it? I watched all asp.net video about web servies but in all videos they speaking just about local web services,
In my web app, if user clicks a button, I have to kick off a long running task. I have to keep the user informed about the status of execution of the task from time to time. To accomplish this, I create a thread on button click which makes a synchronous webservice call. The webmethod works on a long running task; while the main thread informs the users about the status of execution.
Currently the webmethod call times out in approximately 90 seconds. I want to increase the timeout to 10 mins. I tried setting <httpRuntime executionTimeout="600"/> along with debug="false"; but in vein. Can anyone tell me what I am missing?
I am creating new WCF service and i would like to do two way XML for communicating with third party vendors. My wcf service get the request from the outside program by means of URL and it should response accordingly.
Example - I have url which third party will call and put xml as a request, i have to get that xml, work accordingly and response back with either success or failure and appropriate xml. I need to make it completely automatic so anybody can call that url, it will validate that user and do the next step of request and response.
all My web app is calling webservice which resides in same virtuall directory as web app . In this scenario i have a javascript function like this which works perfectly.
I have an process that take about 15minutes to execute. And i have toput this process in a service, and managed his statWell, i placed this process in a service and in some specific pointi have one variable telling me how much % the process have done.So my service reference im my consumer project its typed to let asynchronous calls. When i start my process with a
I have created web service and deployed on server after creating proxy server ..........
when i browse the URL used in proxy server from different computer on same network, it works fine..... but when i browse the same URL on computer on different network, it wont work.....
