Live Chat is a very famous tool on websites, and the operators use a special web/windows interface to talk to the clients.What I want to implement is to specify some email accounts, and when the client click's the live chat and starts typing, his/her instant messages are delivered to the available email account. My operators can talk back to them as if they are on their friends list.I don't need to require any login or registration for clients to use this Live Chat.So are there any ideas about how to implement such a thing? Are there any good third-party-modules that already do that?
View 4 RepliesI am using a generic handler (indicator.ashx) to create a graphic that is overlayed from information from a table (called LIVE) from our SQL database. This is working very well and I am very happy with the results.
However I am having an undesirable issue where the query string that is used for this is also being accessed by another page (called ReceiveLive.aspx) which is populating our LIVE table with data when we don't want this. I have been able to track this issue down to our generic handler that seems to populate this table with data whenever the handler is accessed.
The query string that is used to access our graphic through our generic handler is
http://mydomain.com/indicator.ashx?ID=ABC001.
Our other page that writes data to our LIVE database used the query string
http://mydomain.com/live.aspx?ID=ABC001 which is normally only accessed by a small piece of software that sits on the users PC and sends the data when necessary.
My question is this: How do I prevent data from being written to our LIVE table via the Live.aspx page everytime a query string is processed by my indicator.ashx is accessed?
I am able to get a token with Windows Live Delegate Authentication samples provided by Microsoft.
Now I want to access emails (New, Read, Unread etc) from live account. How can I achieve it with the help of Windows Live Delegate Authentication? Are there any examples for the same?
The Samples given by Microsoft are not related to emails.
I had to move a WCF service (IIS hosted) to a new address. This service is called by a webforms web site on a different site in the same instance of IIS. I checked the WCF service is available and working by calling it directly from a browser.
I then did the following
updated the Service Reference folder in my consuming website updated the web.config servicemodel section (it was auto updated by changing the Service Reference) re-built and deployed libraries using the WCF service to the websites bin folder Stopped the consuming website in IIS and deleted files from Temporary ASP.NET Files folder Re-started IIS and deleted *ALL* files from Temporary ASP.NET files
When I browse to a page that calls the WCF service I get the error;
EndpointNotFoundException
There was no endpoint listening at <<Old endpoint address>> that could accept the message
How can I force my website to use the new WCF endpoint? Do I need to re-start the web server?
I have stopped the application pool, then replaced the XrfUploadService.cs file behind my XrfUploadService.asmx file. I now get errors when I do this: CS0101: The namespace '<global namespace>' already contains a definition for 'XrfUploadService'. What is this about and how can I update my service's code?

View 1 RepliesI will shortly be going live with a new .net web application. It will be deployed to a load balanced environment over 5 servers.Before go live there is a holding site on all the 5 servers to which the domain is currently pointing ->Prior to go live, I would like to deploy the new site to 5 servers and for the holding site to remain and for it to be what the public sees. And when the time comes, I can put the new site live with a flick of a switch. I also want the new site to be on the servers so that I can test it prior to go live.I am running in IIS7. This is common practice I presume so what is the easiest way doing that above and achieve installing the new site on the servers will not affecting the holding site. The new site be accessible to me but the holding site be viewed by the general public.
View 1 RepliesI want to use web service for periodic update request to server. It will use get & Post method.
Using post request I will use follwing URL. I will get this from some device.
[URL]
If request will come like this ... as URL contains 'update' so it should update & after parsing URL, will send reply in the form of URL.
I want to create a WCF Service to transfer data to our clients application(WPF). The Data I am trying to send is as follows.
ID Code Description unit Rate
1 104200000 LIVE GOAT NOS 25
2 104200000 LIVE GOAT2 NOS 25
3 104200030 LIVE GOAT3 KGS 10
4 104202030 Water LTR 5
and so on till ~ 11000 records.
What I have done so far is. Created a service which return a list of data.
public List<Classes.TariffData> GetTariffData() { var currentTariffData = new List<Classes.TariffData>(); using (var myConnection = new SqlConnection(ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["ConnectionString"].ConnectionString)) { const string query = "select a.ID,a.Code,a.Description,a.unit,a.rate,a.rate3 from tariff.dbo.tariffdata a, tariff.dbo.code_history b where a.id = b.id and b.endofvalidity is null"; using (var myCommand = new SqlCommand(query, myConnection)) { using (var ad = new SqlDataAdapter(myCommand)) { var dt = new DataTable("tariff"); ad.Fill(dt); currentTariffData.AddRange(from DataRow row in dt.Rows select new Classes.TariffData { Id = int.Parse(row["Id"].ToString()), Code = row["Code"].ToString(), Description = row["Description"].ToString(), Unit = row["unit"].ToString(), Rate = row["rate"].ToString(), Rate3 = row["rate3"].ToString() }); return currentTariffData; } } } }
Class is as follows
public class TariffData { public int Id { get; set; } public string Code { get; set; } public string Description { get; set; } public string Unit { get; set; } public string Rate { get; set; } public string Rate3 { get; set; } }
If i Limit the number of data by using const string query = "select top 300 a.ID,a.Code,a.Description. The Service works fine. But if I remove the top 300 part I get an error. What is your advice if I want a service to allow our client applications to update their data by using WCF. (11000 records.) I am using visual Studio 2010. C# .Net 4.0
I am writing a sample jQuery/WCF Data Service app to utilize OData, however I am getting a status code 405 - Method not allowed when I attempt to update an entity with a PUT Http method. I have configured my WCF Data Service as follows:
[Code]....
I am attempting to update the jCredentials_PINs table. My jQuery call to update the WCF Data Service is as follows:
[Code]....
I am using Windows 7 / IIS 7.5. GETs against the jCredentials_PINs table work fine. The only web.config configuration information is as follows:
[Code]....
I want to display photo of employee who is login but our company doesn't want to expose the photos of all employees publically that is why we put that employees photos on a server that is not live but connected with the live server.Now problem it that when I run my website on localhost the photos of employees display but as soon as I publish it on IIS it doesn't display images.
View 4 RepliesI have a field that I display via:
String.Format({0:c},amount)
This produces the string "$28.28" However, when I try to convert back to a decimal amount, I get an incorrect format exception:
amount = Decimal.Parse(amount.Text, NumberStyles.Currency)
I also tried it with NumberStyles.AllowCurrencySymbol with the same results. I verified that the value in amount.Text is "$28.28". Am I missing something? Shouldn't these two operations use the same currency symbol and formats?
I have one one web page which one one textbox for receiving the dollar value. My requirement is the user should insert the digit following by a $ sysmbol. And the second requirement is the user has the permission to insert only like this $123.45. Before the decimal point it should not exceed three digits and after the decimal point it should not exceed two digits.
View 3 RepliesI was trying to use the web service for currency rate to get the rate, althought I have already add web reference to[URL] but I still do not know how to retrieve it from there. I'm using asp.net vb.
View 1 RepliesWeb service API: I noticed that some companies like to pass integer as the "currency" amount, rather than pass a decimal data type with a decimal place ($ 100.29) is there a good reason why they choose integer for currency over decimal data type? Example, they do this
100 = $1.00
10043 = $100.43
Why not do this
1.00 or 1 = $1
100.43 = $100.43
I'm not sure why my label text is not formatting to currency.
Here is my code:
[Code]....
It shows the sum result but in decimal format like 123.123, I want to show it like $123,123.00
I've been given this requirement to set the selected currency to native for the app I'm working on. Short of a switch statement I am not sure how to do this. ois there more of an elegant way of getting the native currency?Also this might be another issue I have currences stored as strings "USD", "GBP" etc.
View 3 RepliesIt seems that sometimes the currency format does not work:
string Amount = "11123.45";
Literal2.Text = string.Format("{0:c}", Amount);
reads 11123.45
it should be:
$11,123.45
I wanted to convert my rate field by using one dropdownlist to convert it. Eg, if the dropdownlist selected on japan, when the user select and change to malaysia the rate field will automatically change to malaysia rate from japan rate.
View 1 RepliesI am using CultureInfo methods to successfully format all different currencies into their correct format.
But on some exceptions, such as EUR and SEK currencies I need to be able to add them after the value. At the moment my CultureInfo is formatting them in the following way: "SEK 1.00,00" when it needs to be "1.00,00 SEK".
