HttpHandlers / Modules :: Generic Handler / Prevent Data From Being Written To Live Table Via The Live.aspx Page?
Jun 28, 2010I am using a generic handler (indicator.ashx) to create a graphic that is overlayed from information from a table (called LIVE) from our SQL database. This is working very well and I am very happy with the results.
However I am having an undesirable issue where the query string that is used for this is also being accessed by another page (called ReceiveLive.aspx) which is populating our LIVE table with data when we don't want this. I have been able to track this issue down to our generic handler that seems to populate this table with data whenever the handler is accessed.
The query string that is used to access our graphic through our generic handler is
http://mydomain.com/indicator.ashx?ID=ABC001.
Our other page that writes data to our LIVE database used the query string
http://mydomain.com/live.aspx?ID=ABC001 which is normally only accessed by a small piece of software that sits on the users PC and sends the data when necessary.
My question is this: How do I prevent data from being written to our LIVE table via the Live.aspx page everytime a query string is processed by my indicator.ashx is accessed?

VS 2010 Implement Section Update Methods?
Mar 8, 2011 how page update methods are normally done in a web page with multiple sections? I have a few web pages containing several sections. Each section contains different controls/values and can be saved/updated at any point. Can this be done without creating multiple save functions for each "save" button click in each section? Can this be done with one save class that accepts any number of different values?
Also, i have some page values that should insert if it does not exist and update if the value already exist. Currently, i have to check the database to see if the value exist before inserting and updating. Is there a better way of doing this in VS 2010?

Sep 29, 2010I have a button that updates a datagrid that is in an update panel and everything works swimmingly in the dev area but when i publish it it just doesnt work.

Mar 5, 2010I have this error: The configuration section 'connectionStrings' cannot be read because it is missing a section declaration on my site when loading this page [URL]. The rest of the site works [URL] Setup:The server is a hosting company - Mocha Hosting. [URL] contains a phpbb forum. This has been installed via the hosting company's web tool (Plesk). There is a root web.config, but there isn't in the /forum/ folder. The forum folder has been set by the phpbb installation wizard to be a virtual directory and application - and it appears to not have asp.net configured on it. The forum worked BEFORE uploading the root web.config file, and again if i temporarily remove the root web.config.

My operators can talk back to them as if they are on their friends list.I don't need to require any login or registration for clients to use this Live Chat.So are there any ideas about how to implement such a thing? Feb 18, 2010I'm trying to use the Response.Write() method to dynamically insert content in the < head > section of an aspx page. I need to inject a string value from a property on a code-behind object which is a link to my CSS file. However, it is not being processed properly at run time. The object is public on the class and is hydrated in the Page_Load() event. Down in the body of the page I can successfully inject other properties from the Corpoartion object with no problem at all.Why does this not work in the < head > section?This is the part that does not expand correctly:

I have a few Web Content Forms which carries out instructions based on the user objects. So far it seems that on each Web Content Form I have to create new instances of the classes found on the Master Page. This is doubling my work for every Web Content Form.
Is there anyway I can inhereit Classes and objects instantiated in the Master Page Code Behind?
