View 2 RepliesI am trying to get value of a variable"offset" code behind of content page which is set from default.aspx through onload event from master page.But it gives null value every time. Here is my code.
Maste.aspx
---------
<head>
<asp:ContentPlaceHolder runat="server" id="Headers"> [code]....
I can access a module from code behind but not from the aspx page in inline VB code <% ... %>.
I know its got to be something simple but I can't seem to find the answer anywhere.
I having a Module UIMessagesMod. In that module, i have used a method with the name DisplayMessages. Please find the code below.
Module UIMessagesMod
Public Function DisplayMessages(ByVal LabelControl As Web.UI.WebControls.Label, Optional ByVal RemoveMessages As Boolean = True) As Int32
Return RowCount
End Function
End Module.
I tried to call DisplayMessages in the master page, but it leaves me an error saying "'DisplayMessages' is not declared. It may be inaccessible due to its protection level."
I have two master pages in my application(Suppose Master Page A and Master Page B). I have written a server side method in Master Page A.
How to access this method from code behind of Master Page B?
I am learning VB.Net, what I would like to know is if I have a Button in Form1.aspx how can I create or use its click event in another module say Separate. vb.If I directly reference with the normal code in Separate.vb I receive an error "handles clause requires a WithEvents variable defined in the containing type". Or can I send a notification of the event to trigger a module in another Separate.vb ?
View 5 RepliesSometimes I need to block access on a website, but I don't want to block access for administrators so they should be able to see the website and for that I guess I need to make a module.
How can I make a module like that?
This is the code I have. I just don't know where I should place it.
var user = Membership.GetUser() as User;
if (user == null || (user != null && !user.IsAdministrator))
{
// Block
}
I know in standard VB.Net development, you can access any form field from within a module class but I'm not sure how to do it using Web Forms.Here is my scenario:I have a Module.vb where I am putting all my Database Functionality. In each of my functions, I'm using a Try Catch construct.
View 7 RepliesI am using IIS7's URLRewrite feature to hide the .aspx extension in my ASP.NET WebForms application's URLs.
I'm using the following configuration:
[code]....
I can now browse to:
[URL]
and this is rewritten to:
[URL]
This preserves the "pretty" url in the browser address bar. I have also updated all my links on the site to use the extensionless URLs.
The problem is that the underlying .aspx pages can still be accessed directly and I'd like to prevent this.
If a user browses to [URL] I'd like it to either redirect/rewrite to [URL], or at the very least just return a "Page not found".
Update:
I managed to get this working by redirecting all .aspx pages to the home directory. This isn't ideal as I'd prefer to send them to the non-.aspx version, but it will do for now.
<rule name="Block .aspx" stopProcessing="true">
<match url=".aspx" />
<action type="Redirect" url="/" />
</rule>`
How do I rewrite and redirect URLs that directly address .aspx pages to my friendly URL format?
In our ASP.NET web application, we use our own class to act as a rewrite module. It takes all requests to the server, acting as a bootstrapper.
To access an image on our web application, the browser requests domain.com/ResourceItem.aspx?Id=74
Does not having a proper URI mean the server will never respond with 304 NOT MODIFIED?
how to get the 304 response, so the browser doesn't have to download each image every refresh?
I have a code to link to sql can anyone give me the same code for microsoft access....

{
int videoID = Convert.ToInt32(Request.QueryString["ID"]);

conn.Open();
SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand("SELECT * FROM videopath WHERE videoID=" + videoID, conn);
SqlDataReader dtr = cmd.ExecuteReader();
dtr.Read();
FlashVideo1.VideoURL = Convert.ToString(dtr["Filepath"]);
Label1.Text = Convert.ToString(dtr["Filename"]);
conn.Close();
}
catch (Exception ex)
{
Label1.Text = Convert.ToString(ex);
}
finally
{
}

View 7 RepliesI have a web method in my code behind:

}
I have a javascript method that retrieves some values for me and I want to get use one of those values in my web method
function GetItems() {
var variable1= $("#<%=Item1.ClientID %> input:checked");
var variable2= $("#<%=Item2.ClientID %>").val();

I've searched for ways to call the javascript method from the web method but every time my search results in how to call a web method from javascript.
I did find this but it was done from the code-behind of a silverlight project and when I tried adding the correct reference to my code-behind it wasn't there
var result = HtmlPage.Window.Invoke("GetItems"); Is there a reference I'm missing?

View 5 RepliesI have a masterpage with a timer that shows server time and refreshes every second, on the content page I have a chat program with ajax, refreshes every to second to get the last messages entered.
I have a Html TextBox and a hidden Submit Button, when user write a text, and hit the enter, I check to see if this is the enter key and then submit the message,it is working perfectly in IE, but in FireFox and Opera it show the same message twice. I think the problem is the Timer, is there any way to avoid the MasterPage timer in this particular content page?
I have applied my stylesheet in my masterpage the following way:
[Code]....
In my contentpage I wish to change the stylesheet of my masterpage, but I'm not sure how to reference to it.
I've tried the following, but I can't scope to the "test".

protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
test.Href = "~/CSS/AlternativeMenu";

I have been asked to support a legacy app and I can't get access to the code behind files. I need to add a new feature that gets a list of items from the database on page_load, what way would adding an "in-page" page_load affect the compiled page_load?
View 2 RepliesWe have a master page file in which we have a MenuControl. We are displaying some menus according to users credentials. We are handling MenuItemDataBound event inside master page for adding & removing menus.
There is user edit page{ContentPage} on which user may edit his own credentials. After saving the edited data {users credentials} by ASP.Net Button control, the MasterPage's MenuItemDataBound event doesn't fire (in case of refresh it is firing but in case of post back it is not firing).
We need to recreate/refresh MenuItems for master pages after saving the user and add/remove any nodes from Menus.

I am just learning ASP.Net and i am more using C# as code behind than vb.I am trying to call a method of the code behind (file.aspx.cs) from the (file.aspx).I know how to do it the easy way:- create a button from ASP.Net and double click on it than the property "onclick" will be linked to the method.But i don't know how to do it from a query:
- By example, from an Access database,i use the syste, [using System.Data.OleDb;] and i made a query and display it into a standar object named "Table" which has rows (tablerow) and cells (tablecell) and the cells have one of their properties which is "Controls" where developers can add button (regular button, image button, link button, etc). With i display the buttons from the database, i can not call a method from code behind! I can't either use their properties "onclick" to call i method i created in the code behind.Is there a way to do it ?
