My computer system froze on me, the mouse froze, cntrl-alt-del, did nothing, so I reset it. Did a disk check, and now everything seems fine except for my master Page html code which I was in the middle of editing when it happened. The VB code-behind file is still ok, the designer file still shows ok with all of the controls in it, but I can't get into desgn or source view. It just opens and gives a whole page of hesixecimal code such as as:
00000030 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
00000040 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
It just gives me a whole page full of numbers like this. I haven't backed up for a few weeks and so I hope I can get this back.

I have a Master Page which controls the styling of my site. In the Code Behind, there are a few class instances instantiated as well as variables. These classes validate user access and then create user objects
I have a few Web Content Forms which carries out instructions based on the user objects. So far it seems that on each Web Content Form I have to create new instances of the classes found on the Master Page. This is doubling my work for every Web Content Form.
Is there anyway I can inhereit Classes and objects instantiated in the Master Page Code Behind?

I have a nested master page that has its own master page. The parent master page has a property defined in its code behind.
Public ReadOnly Property SelectedPage() As String
Get
Return _selectedPage
End Get
End Property
How can I reference the parent master page's property from within either the child master page's code behind Page_Load or aspx template page?

foreach (Control control in ContentPlaceHolder1.Controls)
{
if(typeof(Control).Equals(Telerik.Web.UI.RadEditor))
{
label1.Visible = true; label1.Text = "dhchk";
// control.CssFiles.Add("~/styles/myStyle.css");
}
}
Error;-
'Telerik.Web.UI.RadEditor' is a 'type', which is not valid in the given context
Also, is this the correct way to add CSS class to radEditor controls ??
control.CssFiles.Add("~/styles/myStyle.css");
I actually wanna add 3-4 customized classes..how to do that?
also I was wondering if I can add some javascript or something in my Master page that will detect the ALL the radEditor controls and set their css classes ? don't know much of Javascript..how can that be made possible? how do I go about that? but first I want css classes to be set in code behind..what's wrong with the code?
[EDIT]
@Geek..I tried calling like this..is it correct?
Control c = new Control();
DoSomething(c);
now its giving this error in the method:-
The type or namespace name 'c' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)
[EDIT]
I do have this namespace added "using System.Web.UI.WebControls;" why this error ??

I have a master page setup that is used throughout my site that is basically a header with a menu. I recently added a textbox and a button to this master page which is to be a quick search box that is available anywhere in the site. When a user enters text into the search box and hits the button, I need to load the actual content page which is used to search and show search results (which also uses this same master page), and have the text entered available so the search can be triggered automatically. Again, this search text box and button is now in my master page so it could be triggered from anywhere in the app... it serves as a convenient way to do a basic search from anywhere in my app, without having to first navigate to the actual 'search page' that already exists. You can also navigate to the actual search page, which uses the same master page, where there is many more search options.I'm thrown off by the master page arrangement, which I have not used until this project. What do I do?

I am attempting to access a textbox control on a master page from a code behind base class but having problems.
I have 3 levels of master pages. m1.master is the master page for m2.master which is the master page for m3.master.
m3.master has a textbox as shown below
<%Master
Language="C#"
MasterPageFile="~/m2.master"
AutoEventWireup="true"
CodeFile="M3.master.cs"
Inherits="M3"
%>
<asp:Content
ID="Content5"
ContentPlaceHolderID="M2"
Runat="Server">
<asp:TextBox
ID="text1"
runat="server"
></asp:TextBox>
<asp:ContentPlaceHolder
ID="M3"
runat="Server"></asp:ContentPlaceHolder>
</asp:Content>
I have a content page c1.aspx that uses m3.master as its master page as shown below:
<%@
Page
Title=""
Language="C#"
MasterPageFile="~/m3.master"
AutoEventWireup="true"
CodeFile="c1.aspx.cs"
Inherits="_c1"

<%@

My content page codebehind class inherits from a base class BaseForm
public partial

The problem that i am having is that I cannot access the texbox from the class BaseForm. The BaseForm code is as follows:
using System;
using System.Collections.Generic;
using System.Web;
using System.Web.UI;

I wish to place a sub in the code behind of my master page, that will be used to assign variables used in the content pages based on query string values. I would like to see advice on general syntax as it relates to the relationship between master pages and their content pages.I would much rather pursue this route as opposed to repeating the same code on every content page.

My hosting service is all messed up and my application keeps recycling. I am not able to figure out why my application is recycling. I am told that my application is using more than 100MB allocated memory but I just do not see what is wrong or how much is the optimized memory is required for my application. So in my master page I am trying to capture if one of the session variables is null and redirect to login page in the master page.in my master page I have the following code:
if ((Request.Cookies["UserID"] != null)&&(Session["UserID"]!=null))
{
do something;
[code]...
Object reference not set to an instance of an object. referring to the session["UserID"] being null in the page where I thought the master page will handle the null value for the session before the page!

Some time ago I converted an old windows application to a web application. This web application works fine as a stand alone app. I was recently informed that my client had a new standard layout and they are using a master page. They sent me the master page.
The web application is quite basic in that it makes a number of calls to a web service to retreive a list of customer, retrieve list of products and allows customer to create an order containing products.
I did the following to get make use of master page:
Copied it to my solution Update the page directive to include the MasterPageFile attribute and set it to point to master pageAdded the relevant content areas to my page Copied my code (control declarations etc) into the relevant content areas.The application compiles correctly and renders as expected. However, it does not behave as expected.
For example, I display a list of customers in a GridView. The user can select a customer by clicking the select button that is present for each row in GridView. I do this once and select a customer the page is posted back and relevant row is selected. I select a different customer and the page it posted back but this time the selected row does not change. It is still shown as the first row i selected.
This functionality works as expected if i remove the master page attribute and content areas.

I need to display a control consistently across a set of pages. So I'm using a MasterPage to do that in ASP.NET/C#. However I also need to programmatically access this control, mostly provide options to view/hide depending on whether the controls checkbox is clicked.
Here is the Source for the MasterPage
<div id="verifyInitial" runat="server">
<asp:CheckBox ID="chkInitialVerify" runat="server"
oncheckedchanged="chkInitialVerify_CheckedChanged" />
I agree that my initial data is correct.
</div>
<div id="verifyContinuous" runat="server">
<asp:CheckBox ID="chkContinuousVerify" runat="server"
oncheckedchanged="chkContinuousVerify_CheckedChanged" />
I agree that my continuous data is correct
</div>
Now in the code behind I want to perform the following operations. Basically if a person clicks on the checkbox for the initial div box, then the initial box disappears and the continous box shows up. However it seems that the code behind for the MasterPage does not activate whenver I click on the checkbox. Is that just the way MasterPages are designed? I always thought you could do add some sort of control functionality beyond utilizing the Page Load on the Master Page.
protected void chkInitialVerify_CheckedChanged(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
verifyContinuous.Visible = true;
verifyInitial.Visible = false;
}
protected void chkContinuousVerify_CheckedChanged(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
verifyContinuous.Visible = false;
}

As part of our branding of Sharepoint 2010, we'll be modifying some custom HTML menu's based on database and user permissions.
To do this, we are looking at the use of code-behind in a custom Sharepoint 2010 master page.
The only reference I can find to creating a code-behind file for sharepoint 2010 is this blog post series. The issue I have with this is that it's using the Visual Studio 2010 Sharepoint integration, which has the genius feature of requiring a local instance of an entire Sharepoint site. This isn't something that I can do/get.
This is the MSDN for code-behind master pages in Sharepoint 2007. I'm assuming it's similar but I can't find anywhere that describes it as such.
Is deploying a code-behind for a custom master page the same as in Sharepoint 2007 or does anyone have any experience doing this?
