Web Forms :: Ajax Toolkit Doesn't Seem That Great But Must Be Missing Something?

I missing something but I a have been using some of the AJAX extenders for some time now but can't help thinking that I'm missing something. For example the extender that gives a text box a drop shadow looks totally rubbish, my baby daughter drew better shadows at nursery..Are there some neat CSS features I can incorporate to the textboxes etc.. cos I can't see what all the raving is about with this AJAX
I'm using VWD2008, I just downloaded AJAX Control Toolkit 3.5 and installed it following the steps in the official site but can't find "Add Extender" option. I also have another problem that I cant fine the "EnableHistory" property in scriptmanager control properties.
I follow the instruction from this video http://www.asp.net/ajax/videos/how-do-i-use-the-aspnet-ajax-cascadingdropdown-control-extender to create a new web site but I do not see "Ajax control toolkit web site" template to choose after clicking File>New>Web site.
I have AjaxCtrlToolKit4_0 on the machine and in my other project/solution I controls under Ajax Toolkit in the Toolbox. That means I have the Ajax Toolkit. Why doesn't it allow me to create a "Ajax control toolkit web site"?
Another question is do I need to create a separate web site for ajax web service? I already have a web app under a solution. I have a page in this app. This page has some controls such as dropdowns, textboxes, etc. I want to make the dropdowns cascading and do not want to create a separate web site. But the example in the video requires a creation of a new "Ajax control toolkit web site" which includes .asmx file.
I have a combobox inside a hidden div which I use css display = none to make it invisible, but when I make the div visible by setting display = block, the combobox just show the input and its button and ul list all have css as display = 'none', visibility ='hidden'.
I can tell it is done by combobox inbuild javascript because I tried to use javascript to set the css manually with no luck. It is a bug of combobox. I spent a week to solve this, and our team put a lot trust on the toolkit.
Below is the code to reproduce the bug. When you run it, you can't see the dropdown:
i am using VS2008, 3.5 .net and have installed ajax control toolkit and added controls into toolbox, that was fine. But, i can't get any of control to work, nor it renders in design view on my page. Control source is created, page builds without errors but controls don't work. For example:
If i use signs like ë in the HTML Editor, in IE, its ok, and works. But if i use ë in firefox in the same page with the HTML Editor. If i press safe the ë is converted to: � (copy past doesnt work well, but its a square if you put [] to each other). But how is this possible? And how can i solve this problem? In IE its working well, but 50% of the users of the system i build are using Firefox. So it should work in all editors.
I am going to start a new project as a project trainee. And my project is making a job-portal site. And I have done some work with winform but I am a newbie to asp.net,css,html and java script. And my expection is to make this project is very very great at all, and I am ready to work a lot and lot to make this project successfull. Amd reason to make good project is learning.
Now I want to know that how should I start ?
What should I do first ?
Which things I should keep in my mind by doing this project ?
Which structure I should follow ?
Should I use mvc (I dont know more about mvc) ?
How my database should be ?
Which database I should use as a backend ?
Which facilities should be provided to the user for more user freindliness ?
What shoud I use for validation like javascript or ajax or regex ?
Will there be a need of providing reporting services, if yes what should I use to do that ?
And how can I know that what will be there at the side of admin and at the side of the employers as we can know at the side of the job seeker ? this website should include as a functionality.
Should my database has normalization ?
How can I know more and requirement about this project ?
I am asking these type of number of questions because I want to learn as possible as more. And want to involve as possible as more functionalities in this project. And second reason for knowing the answers of above question is I can come to know that which thing I should follow like one question is which database I should use then as an answer of this question I can come to know that which database is more used in the industry and is required to learn first.
I am Getting the following error using the Numeric UpDown Control from Ajax Control Toolkit. Assembly 'AjaxControlToolkit, Version=3.0.30512.20315, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=28f01b0e84b6d53e' contains a Web resource with name 'AjaxControlToolkit.NumericUpDown.NumericUpDownBehavior.debug.js', but does not contain an embedded resource with name 'AjaxControlToolkit.NumericUpDown.NumericUpDownBehavior.debug.js'.
When iam try to add ajax control dll file to my ajax toolkit given in visualstudio express edition 2005, i am getting the following error.
"There are no components in 'C:ProgramFilesMicrosoft ASP.NETASP.NET 2.0 Ajax Extensionsv1.0.61025AJAXExtensionsToolbox.dll' that can be placed on the toolbox." what is the error in this?
I am tring to use Jquery autocomplete into my asp.net 2.0 application, I have all necessary file in place, I tried to worked on , but it seems like this is not working,can some one tell me that is asp.net 2.0 application without using AJAX toolkit works with Jquery autocomplete or it does not work?Note: this is plain asp.net 2.0 web application, it is not using AJAX.

At present we are using <ajax:TabContainer> to load tabs. I have 5 user controls inside <ajax:TabPanel>.
The problem is that all the data on these 5 pages gets loaded at once and increases the loading time as well as it is very hard to debug. Can we do lazy loading uisng TabContainer control? so that only the data of the current tab is loaded and when we click on the other tab then that's control data gets loaded.
I am trying to use tab control with Ajax toolkit. I want to use my master page which is plain page and I want to show the tab function of gridview. I want to give the tab control only the gridview page partically on master page. If it is possible, I am going to put other gridview at this page. That means tab control ONLY gridview. I've got an issue where I'm unable to view Ajax controls within the Visual Studio toolbox section What makes this issue even more bizzare is that I'm able to view the controls of the .dll (AjaxControlToolkit.dll) in a test website. I can see Visual Studio iterate through the controls and add them to the tab in one project and absolutely nothing in the other. I've already checked to see if another tab has my controls and done multiple Toolbox resets. Obviously, I need consistency with this and for me to be able to easily add controls to my target website...Does anyone know why one VS2008 project displays controls correctly in one place but not in another project?
using Editor control of ajax toolkit control is uneditable.I know its reason but do not know how to solve that.In the top of the html page we have this text

written whenever we open a aspx page.But due to some reason i do not have to use that text, so i have deleted that.That's why my editor is uneditable.When i take those text that editor is editable.So, how that editor can be editable without taking those text ?

And it worked fine with the ajaxcontroltoolkit 3.01.Now on 3.5 i gives problems.Ok this is a reported bug so the solution(supposedly) is this:http://ajaxcontroltoolkit.codeplex.com/workitem/26785. how do i compile the project.try to run the AjaxControlToolkit.VS2008.sln and errors pop out form everywhere.
