Web Forms :: Callback Not Working When Dynamically Adding A User Control

Jul 21, 2010

I have a usercontrol that uses a callback to update itself. If I add the control to the aspx page everything works fine. However, when i add the control using Page.LoadControl and Control.Add on a Placeholder i get the following error: "The target 'ctl00$ContentPlaceHolder1$ctl00' for the callback could not be found or did not implement ICallbackEventHandler". I tryed assigning the ID of the control also which failed with the same error. I am using asp.net 2.0.

C# - Dynamically Adding A Custom User Control To A Page?

Nov 3, 2010

I have a usercontrol (ascx) that I want to dynamically add to a page.

Neither the control nor the page has a namespace (thanks crappy vendor).

When I use the following, it tells me it cant find the "type or namespace"

StayTunedControl = (UserControler_StayTuned)LoadControl("~/UserControler/StayTuned.ascx");
Page.Controls.Add(StayTunedControl);
StayTunedControl.StayTunedID = Convert.ToInt32(IncludesStayTunedMeta.Value);

After some tweaking to the namespaces, etc, I am now at a point where the 3rd line above generates the following error:

'System.Web.UI.UserControl' does not contain a definition for 'StayTunedID'

I was hoping that casting StayTunedControl as type (UserControler_StayTuned) would fix this.

Usercontrols - How To Add A New Javascript From A User Control Loaded By Callback

Sep 10, 2010

I'm doing a menu that loads levels dynamicly, when you click on a item the next level is loaded asynchronously. For each menu item I have a user control. Every user control is declared in its parent, for example, the "secondlevelcontrol" has the reference to "thirdlevelcontrol".With this level of nesting, I want to manage the asynchronous calls on every user control so, when the first level is loaded the javascript to load the second is loaded too. When the second level is loaded the javascript to load the third is loaded too.

To do asynchronous calls I'm implementing ICallbackEventHandler interface. As you can see in the examples, controls are added to the page as plain html. The method "ProcessOnLoadEvent" executes all lines of the "OnLoad" event of the user control.An example of the implementation is this for the user control of fourth level:

public string GetCallbackResult()
{
return _callbackRendering;
}

Web Forms :: Dynamically Adding User Controls

Sep 5, 2010

I am new to ASP.NET And I am have THE hardest time understanding how to work with forms in ASP.NET. Here's what I am doing:

Dynamically add User Controls to a PlaceHolder based on some int value (which currently is passed in a HiddenField).Fire an event if the WebControls inside of the User Control change, then handle that event in the Main Page (i.e. save the input to DB)When the user clicks the "Next/Continue" button, the next controls for the next page are loaded. And I guess maybe I just can't seem to get how things work in ASP.NET, because I am really struggling with the general idea of how ASP.NET flows.

Should I be dynamically loading the controls in Page_Init, or Page_Load? Or should I load the controls when the buttonclick event is fired?Do I have to add the axCtrl.OnDataChange += new EventHandler(HandleAxControlDataChange); line on Page_Load? Or should I put this in When I first load the UserControl, I need to initialize some WebControls within the UserContorl. Is there a way to know if I have loaded new user controls into my placeholder? I can't use Page.IsPostback, because after the first page, every page is a postback from the buttonclick.

Here's what I have:

I am stuck in chart controls...Here is my prob... There is a ListBox containing some items...when user selects multiple items from the list box I want to generate a dynamic table with the number of columns same as that of the number items selected in the listbox. And for each selected item I want to show a seperate chart in the columns...Currently I want the same chart control for every selected item (i.e. a static hard coded chart that i will replace later by dynamic values)....I am using a method that draws a chart control using a sample dataset... I am calling it each time when a new column is created..Also the DrawChart method executes for the first column only and throws an index out of range exception! after the first execution...my code is not working...here

C# - Adding A Control To A List Of Controls Dynamically?

Feb 7, 2011

I have a web page where users need to enter customer contact information. They could enter from 0 to an infinite number of contacts.

I created this page code on page:

<ajaxToolkit:ToolkitScriptManager runat="Server" EnablePartialRendering="true" ID="ScriptManager1" />
<asp:PlaceHolder ID="phCustomerContacts" runat="server" EnableViewState="true">/asp:PlaceHolder>
<asp:LinkButton ID="btnAddContact" runat="server" OnClick="btnAddContact_Click" CssClass="LinkButton" Text="Add Contact"/>

In my code behind I added this:

public void btnAddContact_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
IList<CustomerContactProfile> customerContacts = new List<CustomerContactProfile>();
if (ViewState["CustomerContactList"] != null)
customerContacts = (List<CustomerContactProfile>)ViewState["CustomerContactList"];
CustomerContactProfile contactProfile = (CustomerContactProfile)LoadControl("~/Controls/Embedded/CustomerContactProfile.ascx");
customerContacts.Add(contactProfile);
foreach (CustomerContactProfile contact in customerContacts)
phCustomerContacts.Controls.Add(contact);
ViewState["CustomerContactList"] = customerContacts;
}

This code doesn't work because the ViewState can't handle storing all of that control data. However, I cannot think of another way to store the controls that were already added.

The viewstate of the asp:PlaceHolder control doesn't save anything and I need the controls to be saved so that if a user puts in some data to the first control that the data isn't lost when they add a second one and so on.

Web Forms :: Populating A Dynamically Generated Checklist Control In Code-behind Not Working?

Feb 5, 2011

(The following is a complete re-edit of the original post which was rambling, confusing etc...)

I have a form with a dynamically generated checklist:

<asp:CheckBoxList ID="cblGames" runat="server" DataSourceID="sqlGames" DataTextField="Game" DataValueField="Id" </asp:CheckBoxList>
<asp:SqlDataSource ID="sqlGames" runat="server" ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:Games %>"

<SelectParameters><asp:Parameter DefaultValue="true" Name="ShowWaitingList" Type="Boolean" /></SelectParameters>

The following code-behind is supposed to check those boxes that correspond to values stored in a database. It fails and I don't know why.

Jquery - Why Same Domain Ajax Request Adding Jsonp Callback Parameter

Feb 25, 2011

I have a simple script making a request to the server:

var DTO = { 'path': path };
var url = 'default.aspx/Get';
var test;
$('#getInstance').click(function () {
$.ajax({
url: url,
type: 'POST',
dataType: 'json',
data: JSON.stringify(DTO),
contentType: 'application/json; charset=utf-8',
success: function (msg) {
test = msg;
},
error: function (jqXHR, textStatus, errorThrown) {
alert(textStatus);
alert(errorThrown);
}
});
});

This works fine as in it connects to the server and gets the data back, with one simple problem. It is treating this request as a cross domain request, therefore using jsonp. The server code is here:

[WebMethod]
[ScriptMethod(ResponseFormat = ResponseFormat.Json)]
public static MyObject Get(string path)
{
MyObject foo = new MyObject();
return foo;
}

Normally this would not be a problem, except that I am accessing a WebMethod, and it doesnt have the capability to return a jsonp response (meaning it has no way to attach the callback function to the response. Now, if this was a manual response, I could hack it up and attach the parameter, but I am taking advantage of the built-in serialization, so no way to mess around with the response. [URL]

Let me just stress the fact that this code works. The only problem is jQuery treating this request as cross domain. But Why? UPDATE: Well, after many more hours and more testing I have narrowed this issue down to it being a bug in jquery 1.5.1. I did some testing with older versions (all 1.4 versions) and I had no problem, the request was made using JSON, and the response was received successfully. What could be the change they made that would consider this request a CORS?

In a User Control, I need to add a Div to the end of its parent's page. I've done this in a number of ASPX pages, where I put the code to generate the Div and its contents in the page's PreRender event handler, and it works fine. But when I try to do the same thing in the PreRender event handler for the User Control, I get the following error:

AJAX :: Dynamically Create Controls / ASCX Via Callback

Apr 27, 2010

is anybody interesting in share and join to develop callback web controls. My purposes is lower unsynchronized page development cost. I have developed a base class and a set of common controls. Currently, they allowed to be loaded dynamically in a control or ASCX via callback event using sample server side code. Control library code will automatically register javascript and render it on client browser. These controls worked fine in both callback and postback. To load dynamically from an ASCX file.

'ascx1.ascx contain some callback-able controls
Private Function LoadAscx_DuringCallback(Optional ByVal RenderMe As Boolean = False) As String
Dim rt As String = ""
div1.Controls.Clear()
Dim c As Control = LoadControl("~/Test2/ASCX/ascx1.ascx")
c.ID = "ascx1"
div1.Controls.Add(c)
If RenderMe Then rt = CallbackManager1.RenderControlHelper(c)
Return rt
End Function
Or to load dynamically as a control
'c is a callback-able TextBox
Private Function LoadControl_DuringCallback(Optional ByVal RenderMe As Boolean = False) As String
Dim rt As String = ""
div1.Controls.Clear()
Dim c As New ACT360_CallbackControls.ZYH.TextBox
AddHandler c.KeyUp, AddressOf TextBox_KeyUp
AddHandler c.GetFocus, AddressOf TextBox_GetGocus
div1.Controls.Add(c)
If RenderMe Then rt = CallbackManager1.RenderControlHelper(c)
Return rt
End Function

Web Forms :: Create Web User Control Dynamically?

Mar 13, 2010

I want to know how can we create web user control dynamically.

Scenario: Basically i am developing registration user control. I have a web page(say, SelectInputs.aspx) that lists different types of fields along with checkbox attached to each of them for selection. Once i select desired input controls (which should appear in user control) and click submit button then the file (.ascx) should be created from code behind.

eg: Lets say on SelectInputs.aspx i select fields viz. Firstname(textbox), Lastname(textbox), DateOfBirth(3 dropdowns) etc and click on submit button then from code behind the .ascx file should be generated that will include Firstname(textbox), Lastname(textbox), DateOfBirth(3 dropdowns) etc.
