The columns are first name, last name, email address I would like to write a loop that sends an email message to the person if the email address in thir row is not empty.
I am attempting to access a textbox control on a master page from a code behind base class but having problems. I have 3 levels of master pages. m1.master is the master page for m2.master which is the master page for m3.master.m3.master has a textbox as shown below
I'm starting to play around with MasterPages in VB.NET 2005, and have run into a problem. The idea is to present a Content page with a DropDownList that has some values in it, have the user select one, then navigate to the next Content page. The resulting Content page will then display some information based on whatever value the user chose on the initial Content page.
I had done something similar to this a year or two ago (but using C# 2005, without MasterPages, and the control was a ListBox not a DropDownList) and the way I did it then was to set up an object in the Next page, then assign that the result of (ListBox)Page.PreviousPage.FindControls("ControlName"); from there I could dink around with the 'local' copy of the object and its values. So now I'm trying to do this in VB while implementing a MasterPage, but I get an Object Not Set To An Instance Of An Object error.
The code looks something like this (assume the previous page has a control ID DDLRecordSelect)
[Code]....
I thought maybe it was something funky with the ViewState so I tried it with a TextBox that had a hard-coded value, and got the same result. Am I approaching this the wrong way entirely, or is there hope? I would prefer to NOT use QueryString to pass variables between pages, because IIRC I had to use this local copy of the object business before because the ListBox results were too lengthy.
When run, I can successfully authenticate and then when I attempt to view this particular content page I get an error on the page load where I'm trying to populate the dropdownlist. The error I get is a Null Reference exception. I don't fully understand the page lifecycle of an asp.net page, but I also don't understand why the page compiles successfully and its only when run that I get this exception. It seems that the control is not created when the page_load command is called. How can I change the contents of a dropdownlist on page load of a content page that requires authentication?
In master page I am using asp content place holder. And in my child page I am using pure html coding. When I attach master page in my child page I am getting this error.Content controls have to be top-level controls in a content page or a nested master page that references a master page.
My project has the following repeater menu shown on the Master Page. I need this menu to remain hidden until the user logs in. How do I access from content page?
Can I ask what this error refers to, (I have had it twice now over the last couple of days and then it goes away):
System.Web.HttpException: Content controls are allowed only in content page that references a master page.
This is followed by Stack Trace:
[HttpException (0x80004005): Content controls are allowed only in content page that references a master page.] System.Web.UI.MasterPage.CreateMaster(TemplateControl owner, HttpContext context, VirtualPath masterPageFile, IDictionary contentTemplateCollection) +9744256 System.Web.UI.Page.get_Master() +55 System.Web.UI.Page.ApplyMasterPage() +14 System.Web.UI.Page.PerformPreInit() +51 System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain(Boolean includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStagesAfterAsyncPoint) +1104
I am not using any Content Place Holder or Master Page (does the error refer to the Site.Master file because while I can see it in. Solution Explorer, I never use it. All of my aspx files look like this along the top with no reference to Site.Master:
I have a nested master page. A parent master page, a child master page and a content page whose master page is the child master page. I have a reference to jQuery in the parent master page in the head section.<script type="text/javascript" src='<%#ResolveUrl("~/includes/jquery-1.4.2.min.js") %>' ></script> & Page.Header.DataBind(); in the OnLoad event.
I am using jQuery in all the pages including the master pages. However I am getting "Error: $().ready is not a function" in the content page. If I include jQuery reference in the content page it works. Question: If the reference to jQuery is in the master page head section, why aren't the content pages able to use jQuery? When I do view source, the script tag with jQuery is there and it works. The master pages and content page are merged during rendering and sent to the browser as a single html page so I am not sure when master pages are used, jQuery references break.
UPDATE:
When I changed '$.ready(function()' to 'jQuery(document).ready(function($)' it worked! I am not loading any other javascript libraries and I am not using MS Ajax.
I am getting this error "Only Content controls are allowed directly in a content page that contains Content controls". I am using a single aspx page and not a separate cs file. Now, to write code inside aspx page, I am using <script> tag. Now, my problem is inside one of the method I have to use <script> tag. Now, when i use that this error comes. Eg
i have a masterpage and has some linkbuttons in it, i also have a webform which is a content page for the masterpage. i like to access the controls to the webform via the linkbutton residing in the masterpage or access the linkbuttons via the webform controls.
I have a master page with a textbox that I want to use for a search, and display the results on the content page.
I've dragged in the datasource to the content page, and configured the formview to use that datasource... almost.
The issue I'm having is that on the last step of the configure datasource wizard where you select the parameters, I want to select the master page textbox control for the search parameter... but of course it's not available in the list. The list only allows me to choose controls from the content page.
How do I set this master page search box as the parameter for my datasource?
I am having asp:hyperlinks in my master page, which i use as my page headers. I would just like to change the text format of the hyperlink when a content page is loaded.
the CS code for accessing the master page contents from content page?
in my default.aspx page i have a dropdown List and a textbox with a submit button below that there are 2 listbox... and the dropdown list holds the names of the listbox
my logic here is to select an item from the dropdown list and put some text in the text box and submit the form which will add an item to the listbox selected.. but when i do this i get an error saying Object reference not set to an instance of an object. i tried to figure out the problem and found that when i remove the reference to the Site Master Page it works fine and when i undo and apply my reference back to the Site Master Page i get the same error.
it is very easy to access master page control from content page like
[code]....
but how could i access controls of content page from master page. suppose a textbox there in content page and one button is there in master page. i want that when i will click on master page button then i want to show the text of textbox in the content page in the label of master page. how to achieve it.
How to I put this form on my page? The problem is I have a master page which wraps the content pages content in the ASP.net form, I can't nest the forms.
I'm using this Ajax script [URL] to load content from an aspx page on another server than the page calling the content. So far I've learned that this is a no go. The problem seems to be that when using an absolute link to content the script fails as apposed to using a relative link.
I've searched the web for about 10 hours now, and I still haven't found what I'm looking for.
I've got a master page where I've created two content place holders ('menu content place holder' and 'main body content place holder'). I've placed several controls (drop down lists and a calendar) in one of these content place holders (the 'menu content place holder'). In my content page I've set the 'menu content place holder' to 'Default to Master page content'. In my 'main body content place holder' I've included several controls (table, labels) which depend on the user selected items in the 'menu content place holder'.
After including a reference in all the necessary places- like this:
DropDownList ddlList1 = Master.FindControl("ddlList1") as DropDownList;
I still get the following exception (this exception occurs in my content page):
An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.
Exception Details:System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
I bought a website a few years ago, hosted with WebHost4Life,. Since their migration their has been nothing but problems with my site, however, I am stuck because I don't have the knowledge to move it, have tried with no success. Anyway, recently I have been getting parser error messages, Webhost fixed them, and then it starts over again. It takes them weeks to get around to it and since its my livelihood, I can't afford for the site to be down for 5 days then running for one day. I've tried to contact the guy that built the site to no avail, he won't answer my emails.
why these parser errors keep happening. This is a recent thing from the past 2 months, never had this before. What can I do to stop it. it looks like the knowledge here is unreal, I'm in awe everytime I read your answers. BTW, heres my lastest parser error:
Parser Error Description: An error occurred during the parsing of a resource required to service this request. Please review the following specific parse error details and modify your source file appropriately. Parser Error Message: Only Content controls are allowed directly in a content page that contains Content controls. Source Error:
I currently have three masterpages and content pages in the following hierarchy: One root-level masterpage that displays the final result. Call this "A" Two sibling pages that don't reference each other but contain all the same contentplaceholder elements, just in a different order with different <div>'s surrounding them. Both reference the root-level masterpage. Call these "B1" and "B2". Several content pages that reference one or the other sibling master pages above (not both). Call these "C1" through "C-whatever".
Cn => B1 => A Cm => B2 => A
This hierarchy works fine. Desired Setup What I want to do is add in a new level to this hierarchy (a new master page) between the content pages and the sibling masterpages. Basically so it's like this: One root-level masterpage that displays the final result. Two sibling pages plus a third sibling. Call it B3 A new middle masterpage that dynamically 'chooses' one of the sibling masterpages. The desired behaviour is to pass through the content given by C directly to Bn without modifying it. The only thing D actively does is choose which Bn. Call this new masterpage D. Several content pages that reference the new middle master page instead of the old siblings. The challenge to this is, I'm working within the confines of a rather complex product and I cannot change the original two sibling masterpages (B1 and B2) or content pages (C) in any meaningful way.
I want:
Cn => D => B1 => A Cm => D => B2 => A Ck => D => B3 => A
Essentially, D should "pass through" all it's content to whichever B-level masterpage it chooses. I can't put this logic in the C-level pages. Additional Details All B-level pages have the same content/contentplaceholder tags, just ordered and styled differently. D can be as convoluted as it has to be, so long as it doesn't require modifying C or B. I'm using ASP.Net 2.0
I wish to execute a javascript function in HTML Editor content. Hower, I give me the error "object expected". It seems like the browser cannot locate my javascript file.
Here is my setup:
- I have an external javascript file, "myscript.js" under "script" folder which has "test" function which contains a single "alert()" command.
- I referenced to "myscript.js" via <script src=....> tag (and also tried using Script manager's ScriptReference Path, same result).
- In my default.aspx page, I have a button which call "test" on mouseover event, which works call "test" correctly whenever I mouseover.
- In my default.aspx, I have the HTML Editor, with the this HTML content:
When I mouseover "ok" alert() script executed, but it give "object expected" error on I mouse over "not ok", it look like the browser cannot find "test" in myscript.js.
How do I reference this a script file inside the HTML Editor content?
