I'm currently trying to figure out enabling my users, once logged in, to change their email address that they have registered. As far as I can see it's only held in the aspnet_Membership table.
The code I have so far is as follows, but it doesn't seem to be doing anything. No errors either so I can't go down that route yet!
[Code]....
I can't work out what's going wrong

I have been searching since some days for the best approach one can have in order to allow an authenticated user to change his/her email address.
This is the code I have but apparently it doesn't work and it doesnt even gives a error. The application seems to ignore it:
Change email address:
<asp:TextBox ID="txtEmail" runat="server"></asp:TextBox>
<asp:TextBox ID="txtPassword" runat="server"></asp:TextBox><br />
<asp:Button ID="changemailbtn" runat="server" Text="Button" />
<asp:Label ID="lblErrors" runat="server" EnableViewState="False"
[Code]....

I'm working on an EmailSender, and I'm grabbing the email address from my Web.config file. I'd like to also grab a "display name" for that email, from the same section if possible, but I'm not seeing an obvious way to do this. In my Web.config file, I have included a default "from email address", like this:
<configuration>
<[URL]>
<mailSettings>
<smtp from="[URL]><!-- no displayName attribute :( -->
<network ... />
</smtp>
</mailSettings>
</[URL]>
</configuration>
In my EmailSender, I have something like this:
var smtpSection = ...;
var message = new MailMessage();
message.From = new MailAddress(_settings.From, senderDisplayName);
Is there a recommended way to store senderDisplayName in a web.config file? Is there some way to include it in the from attribute? For example:
<smtp from="Automatic Mailer [URL]">
Or does it need to be a custom element in appSettings? Or is there some other way?

In addition to the process of regex syntax validation of Email Addresses entered by users, I'm trying to check if the entered email address is a real one and does exist?The best I could achieve is to "Ping" the host the email address is associated with. But there are some other terms in the industry like Handshaking with Email Server, etc.not necessarily with 100% confirmation accurary!

We are developing an Intranet application that looks up some data for a user through hooks into Active Directory. However, our Network guys don't always enter in a users email address when creating a new user. Therefore, our user database is missing the email address for over half of our users. We have over 10,000 users, therefore asking them to enter 5000+ email addresses into each missing email address field in Active Directory isn't an option. I already know how to validate that an email address is correctly formatted using Regex. What I need is a way to lookup the email address entered in the email address textbox and see if it exists on Outlook/Exchange (or looking up the email address using the First Name/LastName would work). If it does exist then the address is valid, if it is invalid then the user typed in the wrong address. I've tried to do something with CDO, but have had no luck. We use Outlook 2003 and ASP.NET 2.0.

[URL]

2. If 1 is not an option, how do I make the underline the same color as the text? I selected the entire text and made the forecolor black but the underline remained as blue.
