Include Email Address "display Name" In Smtp Element Of Web.config File?
Feb 1, 2010
I'm working on an EmailSender, and I'm grabbing the email address from my Web.config file. I'd like to also grab a "display name" for that email, from the same section if possible, but I'm not seeing an obvious way to do this. In my Web.config file, I have included a default "from email address", like this:
<configuration>
<[URL]>
<mailSettings>
<smtp from="[URL]><!-- no displayName attribute :( -->
<network ... />
</smtp>
</mailSettings>
</[URL]>
</configuration>
In my EmailSender, I have something like this:
var smtpSection = ...;
var message = new MailMessage();
message.From = new MailAddress(_settings.From, senderDisplayName);
Is there a recommended way to store senderDisplayName in a web.config file? Is there some way to include it in the from attribute? For example:
<smtp from="Automatic Mailer [URL]">
Or does it need to be a custom element in appSettings? Or is there some other way?
I'm looking at an asp.net application, i notice that there are assemblies defined into two places. In web.config there is configuration/system.web/compilation/assemblies/add elements. In the project file there are references setup under the Project/ItemGroup/Reference elements.
I was wondering, what is the difference between assemblies/references added in either location?
I have a ASP.Net website in which an email has to be sent to user with an excel attached if the user requests.
The user provides the email address, when click on a button to send report, an excel report with the result set should be attached to the email and sent to user.
The excel report will be saved on the server and through SMTP, I'm senidng the report in email. After the email is sent I should delete the excel file created on the server.When I'm trying to delete I get the error, the file is being used by SMTP object (other process).
Is there a way that I can delete this file after the email is sent?
once user answers security question and clicks submit that you can then re direct them to a new page and display their password on screen? rather than send an email?
I am trying to break a large web.config file into smaller parts. This has been covered a few times on different stack overflow questions (like this or this) which recommend using the configSource or file attributes. The problem is this does not work for the system.webServer section used to configure IIS 7 in integrated mode. This is particularly bad for web.config files that have IIS Rewrite rules which tend to bloat the files.
The httpRuntime element configures ASP.NET HTTP run-time settings that determine how a request for an ASP.NET application is processed.
Is it a good idea to customize this element in the config file.
The user has indicated that the application seems to be kicking her out, even though she is sure that she is submitting a form faster than every 30 minutes.
My Config file has these vales set, am I missing anything?
I am having an issue with a join statement. The join is based on the customer id in both databases, however, I just happen to have the exact same spelling for the email field which is contained in both the customer database and the office database. How do I display the proper email address. The email I am sending sends to the office email address rather than the customer address.
i currently working on a webform. My current codes are below:
[Code]....
1. first of all i would just like to have 1 XML file that will contain both the builder and manager email address. I tried the following code but it does not work. Basically i set the databinding source for both the dropdownlist to the same source with different datafield value(for builder) and name(for manager).
[Code]....
2. So i want it to set so that when users select "Others" as an option, they are allowed to enter new email address manually. And i want them to update this XML file so that the next time they access this form they would be able to see the previous email entry that they provided.3. How do i get the 2 panels side by side at the bottom? For example i would like them to see the Label next to the Textbox.4. Last question, how do i create a text in the label so that i can see the Version when they press update in the form. For example if the major version is 6, user enters 6 and press the update button and the "Major Version" would display something like "Major Version = 6"?
I am creating a windows service to send automatic mails for the consumers, that are referred by our web site professional users to register in our site.
For sendind mail we are using our company mail but what we need is if customers want to reply for that mail they need to send for professional mail by clicking reply in the inbox.
Code: Dim mail As New MailMessage() mail.From = New MailAddress("x@y.dk") mail.To.Add("y@x.dk") mail.To.Add("xyz@xxx.dk")

until my provider changed in his server settings. He now tells me that I cannot use specific IP adress. How do I access a specific host instead? He told me that this is the right host: pubsmtp.directit.dk
I want to be able to call the adminemail key from the web config file. right now I can use one email address but I want to be able to stuff two email addresses in there because all of my forms will be sent to the same two people.
I am building an email feature in my website (jobs site). By using this functionality, recruiters will be able to send emails to candidates. I want an option so that the user can also set 'From Address' and the email should be ANTI-SPAM compliant.
In addition to the process of regex syntax validation of Email Addresses entered by users, I'm trying to check if the entered email address is a real one and does exist?The best I could achieve is to "Ping" the host the email address is associated with. But there are some other terms in the industry like Handshaking with Email Server, etc.not necessarily with 100% confirmation accurary!
How me can validate a email textbox to take only valid email address if error occur it show the error message in this textbox or as a tooltip. because in the form there is no space to show error message.
