I created a simple web form in which some default values are added to the textboxes on Page_Load. I added a button which when clicked, inserts the textbox values to a db. When executed, the default values are stored instead of the changes.
My guess is that when the button is pressed, the page is reloaded and the default values overwrite the user inputed values. Is there any way to prevent this re-fresh?
I want to make a profile page, so the first time the page get loaded they can fill in there profile page. Iff they come for second time the page will load the information out of the database and put it into the textboxes.
Does anyone know how i need to put that information in textboxes...?
I am creating a gridview dynamically in a custom control and adding it to a Panel. I set the EnableViewState = true. The problem is that on a page postback the GridView does not seem to retain its values. If I add a GridView through the UI then the viewstate is preserved. The problem seems to occur when it is put dynamically only.

When that fragment (#blahtab) is present, some jQuery picks up on that and displays a different section of the page initially. However, that page requires a user to authenticate first. Coming back from the authentication step using FormsAuthentication, the fragment is discarded, regardless of the UrlEncode step.
I don't see the fragment actually sent to the server when I use a debugger on my local machine. Is this standard fare and the fragment is only for the client side?How can I keep that tacked on without writing my own redirection code on the login page?
Alternately, should I use another method to preserve the view of the page?
I am having trouble turning off viewstate for the controls in a page/form. Whatever I try the controls preserve & display the user input. I first turned viewstate off at control level, then page level and finally site level,yet still the form repopulates with values entered.

I have a repeater which is binded using a Collection of Entity Data Framework.
Once the repeater is binded using the datasource, the user can control the no of rows present in the repeater using a Dropdown list on the page. For ex: if datasource has 2 rows, user want to add 3 more rows, user selects 5 from dropdown, which adds 3 additional rows to the Repeater. I am able to do this.
The repeater has textbox controls in each row. Now once the user enter the values in this textbox of the newly generated rows, the user can save the values entered with the no of rows specified.
I have a button which is outside the repeater and on click of this i need to validate all the textbox values and save them into dB accordingly.

Right now the problem is im not able to fetch the values of the textboxes present in the newly generated rows.

i need to check , client side, if both email and phone number are empty .The textboxes are template columns of a detailview. I've added a custom validator for each textbox (one inside edit template, one inside insert template, etc . . ) each custom validator call the same javascript function . So the problem is : the custom valiator is activated only when at least a charachter is put into a textbox and i want to check if both textbox are empty .

I have a details view on my page that has a template field in it. In the template field is a button that when clicked, sets the visible property of another field to true. When this happens the whole detailsview resets and anything that was entered into other fiields is cleared. Is there any way to prevent the other fields from being cleared when the hidden field is set to be shown.

I'm having major performance issues with my BBCode/Commenting system. It's taking 3 seconds to process the code, with 5 comments and a simple [b] command.
So here's what I am doing (it's done like this because of the way my backend system is designed):
"LoadComments" function is called with referenced to the repeater. "PagingSystem" is initializedBind data to controlData is pulled from the binded control (if bbcode is enabled) Data is put into a dataview
Process text and convert BBcode (update row) BindData I disabled every feature, including the BBCode, and it's still loading slow. This is the ONLY thing I can think of causing the issue. Here is the base code that process bb:

As you can see, it uses my own data management code. Even without using it, I'm still not 100% sure how to modify the contents inside of a repeater. I don't see how modifying them could slow it down so bad..

I have a listview with a nested gridview. I'm having trouble accessing the gridview. I want the gridview to be filled and displayed when a linkbutton is clicked on the listview. I use FindControl to get linkbutton - but cannot get it to work for the nested gridview. I have gridview working outside the listview, but it fails when nested.
