Web Forms :: Child Not Updated If Master Dropdownlist Selected Value Changed Programatically

In my application i have a 'Result.aspx' page. In this page i have a dropdownlist which is acting as a master for a gridview. I want that when the user loads this page then the dropdownlist automatically has the value which user selected on another page and for this i am using querystring in the page load event as follows
I have set the autopostback of dropdownlist to True
My problem is if i am assigning the value to dropdownlist this way then my child gridview is not updating. Also, what is the best page event for assingning this value
there is 3 drop down list control in in first dropdown load Districts when page load when we select or index changed in drop down1 items changed or loaded in drop down list2 according to the disrict.According to the item selected in drop downlist2 items changed or loaded in drop downlist3.
I have a dropdownlist implemented in my masterpage. It has an sql data source from which it loads the values of companies. Depending on which value(company) selected, it shows that value in a label on a different page. The ddl which is in the masterpage is ofc still visible and should display the selected value which it does at the 1st time a value is selected. But when i select another value in the ddl it shows the value which was 1st selected and so on. So it doesn't update or something.
and this is the code i'm using in my Page_load method from the masterpage:

If I remove this last piece of code from my page_load method it updates the label with value on the redirected page but it resets my ddl to default value instead of keeping it at 4 when value 4 selected.
I have a simple query based on the index changed event of a dropdownlist in ASP.NET. The scenario is i have a dropdown list bearing a collection of items (say ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR, FIVE) with the default value selected as 'ONE'. Now, when the client changes the index (say the client selects 'TWO'), a confirmation box is prompted asking 'Are you sure want to change the index?' with the buttons YES & NO. Now, the problem is, if YES button is clicked then its working fine as the index is changed. But when NO button is clicked in the confirmation box, I do not want the index to be changed to 'TWO' and it should be holding the previously selected value which was 'ONE'. How can I do this? For which event should I write the code, as I cant think of writing the code for the IndexChanged event because here the index change has already occured and since there is no 'IndexChanging' event in ASP.NET, where shall i write the code

I want to filter grid view, drop down list should select the column and text box will filter the column. like ID NAME Phone Designation fields in gridview.i will select Designation in dropdown and type programmer in text box .so it should filter programmers from the gridview...
I am using SelectedIndexChanged in the DropDowList and it works fine and populates a GridView based upon a site selection.
Is there there a way I can reset the SelectedIndexChanged so if user wants to refresh the GridView they would open the drop down list and click on the same selection again?

I've got a FormView control for which I'm Viewing, Inserting and Updating to a MS SQL Database.
Instead of adding a SqlDataSource control to the page, I've created it in the code behind and declaring the properties/attributes for it during Page_Load.
At the moment, everything is bound and working fine, but I'm having an issue Databinding to the child controls in my FormView with parameters set in the code behind.

So, I need to be able to bind the DS.InsertParameters.Add("PageTitle", ---) with the txPageTitle control in the Insert Template, same with the PageURL to txPageURL. Is there any easy way to do this from the code behind? I can't seem to find a way to add a parameter without needing to assign it a value.

I have a DropDownList on my aspx page and wanted to add ListItem programatically. The item will start from 2 years ago to 1 year later (e.g. from 2009 to 2012) so if the year change, it will be automatic. I also want the current year to be selected by default. In the code behind, I did this:

In our asp.net web application we load the dropdown list boxes in the page load. We than set the SelectedValue of each dropdown list box to an object from session. We have event handlers for many of the SelectedIndexChanged events of the drop down lists boxes, but these do not get executed when we set the selected value programmatically.
Someone else mentioned this is by design, and only when a user manually changes the drop down list selected index, will the event get raised.
I would think this is a common scenario of wanting the selectedindexchanged event handled when setting the selectedvalue/selectedindex/listitem's selected property, of a DropDownList. What is the suggested way to handle this? Is there a significant drawback of creating a custom control inherited from DropDownList that has the functionality of raising this event when changing the SelectedIndex or SelectedValue?
I'm trying to programatically populate some dropdownlists inside a formview in EDIT mode, like this below.

I orginally had this running as part of the pagelaod event, but I'm thinking that b/c the page loads first, it doesn't populate the fields in EDIT mode until after the data is saved, and then page is reloaded. Now it knows it's in "Edit" mode. Am I thinking clearly here? Not sure if this is the order of things. So I thought I should just use a formview_modechanged (or similar event) so when the user switches modes, it populates the fields - but I'm not sure which event I should use. I've tried "Modechanging", "modechanged", "prerender", etc, but with no luck. Here's my new code... not sure what's up? Is it simply I've got the wrong formview event? Or am i missing something? Is there an easier/better way to accomplish this?
I run through some code in my debugger that is definitely changing the value of a label on a master page. But it's not changed on the page:

I am having two dropdownlist in my project,one dropdownlist for empid, another dropdownlist for month, if the user select the empid, the values are retrieved in the textbox.

I have a web application that uses the master/child page layout you get by default (at least in a VS2010 web project). The Masterpage has a NavigationMenu, each item on that NavigationMenu has a NavigateUrl that looks like "~/Pages/MyPage.aspx". This automatically opens 'MyPage' in the Content of the Masterpage, so that the master page with menu and header etc stays visible.
Now, the client has a guestbook on her old website (I'm basically rebuilding her website, adding the ability for her to upload new content in her browser), and she wants to keep it. This guestbook is from a 'free guestbook' third party website, over which I have no control. It's simply a website in the form [URL] .... which shows the guestbook for a user 'Username'.
In her old website, I was using frames, so the menu on the left side was in a different frame, and I would simply open the third party website in the center frame. That would create the illusion that the guestbook was on her site, while it was actually a completely different website in a separate frame.
In my new website I'm no longer using frames, but the master/child layout as explained. Is it still possible to 'host' or 'embed' this third party website as a 'child' of the master page?
I tried just putting the url to the guestbook in the NavigateUrl of a NavigationMenu item, but that doesn't work, it just navigates to the third party website and doesn't embed it in any way.
Will master page build in visualstudio 2008 express edition gets changed when the page is opened in visualstudio 2008 professinal edition?
I had created a sample master page in visualstudio 2008 express edition and when I opened the same website on other PC to work on it, I had observed that that alignment of <div> tags gets changed in the masterpage. Why this is happening?
As you can see in the picture below i've got a Page control with inital letters which cotains a listbox showing different wood articles. When i click on a Tab, the selected tab page get's a new Listbox control with the wood articels starting with the selected initial letter.

When i click on a item inside the listbox, following code will be executed:

So far, it works fine for me. But when i change the selected Tabpage, the first SelectedIndexChanged in the listbox in the new shown tabpage is not recordnized. That means i have to select a new item and click on Search = the selected Item is still the item i selected before i changed the tab. Then i select the item again and click on search the index changed is recordnized. So why do i have to click two times on search to get the new selected item after a tab page changed?
