I have a problem with the validation of a multiline textbox, I want that only validate it when click a button but I don't know how do it.

I am using one datalist control for uploading multiple images.I hv used one Asp:FileUplaod Control and one button in one itemtemplate.I am using reqired field validator and regular expression validator for file upload cntrl I am assigning validation group for both of them on ItemDataBound event of my datalist so that each upload cntrl hv same validaton group as required field and regular expression validator.Now what i want to do is - i want to show my error message in validation summary which is right at the top of the page.I want one know how to write javascript that will assign validation group of my control in datalist on which i click ?
View 1 RepliesI've been searching a little bit to try and find the answer to this problem. As of right now another person I work with has designed a wizard step with an upload button in part of it. After the person clicks the browse button and selects their file a validation statement comes up saying, "Please click 'upload and continue' or clear the field" and then is supposed to disable the continue button until this is done. He started by adding a RegularExpressionValidator and found it did not solve his problem.
Now that he's out today we're working on trying to solve this and my first though is to actually use a custom validator instead and have it call a function in the back-code for validation which checks to see if the "Upload" click-event has happened. Is there an easy way of verifying whether or not a click-event has occurred. Basically my conditional is shown in the pseudo-code below...

View 6 RepliesI have a page with formview, the page contains a lot of input fields and a lot of validators and when I press "Save" button (in which I perform insert procedure) the form is validated, but button click event and page load happens. Validators and button belong to the same validation group. How to avoid button click and page load events happening when some validators aren't correct? In page without formview everything works ok, I click "Save" button and when all validators are correct only then happens button click event. How to fix that with form view?

Validation Rule as follows.
1.When i click theLinkButton Email ID is mandatory
2. When i click the signin btn both Email and Password are mandatory
So for the above validation i have a two Required field validator one with validation group as signin and other as forgot
and next two RegularExpressionValidator with validation group as signin and other as forgot .
for the LinkButton and ImageButton I set the validation group as signin and forgot,

When i click on any of the buttons Error Messages are displated twice...

I need to be able to validate multiple validation groups with the click of one button. My Form consists of two text boxes and a drop down list for input. The form also, currently, has three buttons, one for each control. Each of those buttons are tied to a validation control and if the validation is successful, it will add the user inputted data into a database that I have. The interesting part comes when I need to add a forth button which will act as a "Save All" Button. When this button is clicked, I need it to fire the three validation groups.
Is it possible to add multiple validation groups to the "Save All" Button?
On one page, I have 2 buttons. One that says Clock-in and the other says Clock-out. As of this moment, the application will allow you to click on the clock-in button without having clocked out the previous day and will allow you to click the clock-out without being clocked in. If a user is clocked in and they click the clock-in button again, I would like an alert to pop-up that would say "you must clock out before you can clock in". And if the user clicks clock-out without being clocked in, it should say "you must clock in before you can clock out". I am using VB in the code behind and SQL Server 2005. i have some textbox that i validate with a customvalidator control (only, and must be, server side function) and i have an imagebutton control for submit.I must stop the postback if there are some errors in the validation function.I set the validation property argumets.isvalid = false in the customvalidator function but doesn't work, the postback continue.i have tried to set the imagebutton property postbackurl = "" in the validation function but doesn't work.

I have an issue that I've been fighting with for some time. I have a large web form, with update panels and autopostback controls. When the users click "submit", some custom javascript runs which shows validation summaries and turns the fields with errors red, relatively easy, and it works as expected. The problem is that I have a dropdownlist which should autopostback an update panel. It does this perfectly if the user does not click the submit button, and therefore my custom client script dosesn't execute.However, if a user clicks submit, the custom client script executes (turns fields red and shows validation summaries), and then the dropdownlist does NOT autopostback the first time a user changes it's value. If the user changes the dropdownlist's value a second time, then the autopost back occurs and everything functions as it should. I don't understand why the autopostback is disabled for the first click after the javascript executes. Can someone please help me out? The DropDown List looks like:

View 5 RepliesI'm having trouble with an image button I create via c# in an event causing page validation to occur on postback. The CausesValidation attribute is set to false at time of creation in the event. I also wire up the Click event in the page_init with postback so not to loose the event handler if the page posts another way. Here is the code I'm using in the click event of a Button. I've also tried to enable and disable viewstate for the button with no luck. What am I missing here that continues to fire page validation in the Click of this imagebutton?
