Web Forms :: Click Event Validation By Using VB In The Code Behind And SQL Server 2005
Jan 31, 2011
On one page, I have 2 buttons. One that says Clock-in and the other says Clock-out. As of this moment, the application will allow you to click on the clock-in button without having clocked out the previous day and will allow you to click the clock-out without being clocked in. If a user is clocked in and they click the clock-in button again, I would like an alert to pop-up that would say "you must clock out before you can clock in". And if the user clicks clock-out without being clocked in, it should say "you must clock in before you can clock out". I am using VB in the code behind and SQL Server 2005. My current button click events are below:
I have two asp.net buttons in my page.If i make button cause validation false then am able to fire button click event on server side but not able to validate text box values(but i need to validate text boxes) using required field validator.
I am having a problem where my button click event is still firing even though my custom server-side validation is set to args.IsValid = false. I am debugging through the code and the validation is definitely being fired before the button click, and args.IsValid is definitely being set to false once the custom validation takes place, but it always makes its way to the button click event afterwards.
I've been searching a little bit to try and find the answer to this problem. As of right now another person I work with has designed a wizard step with an upload button in part of it. After the person clicks the browse button and selects their file a validation statement comes up saying, "Please click 'upload and continue' or clear the field" and then is supposed to disable the continue button until this is done. He started by adding a RegularExpressionValidator and found it did not solve his problem.
Now that he's out today we're working on trying to solve this and my first though is to actually use a custom validator instead and have it call a function in the back-code for validation which checks to see if the "Upload" click-event has happened. Is there an easy way of verifying whether or not a click-event has occurred. Basically my conditional is shown in the pseudo-code below...
In vb.net code behind we can go the code view and from right dropdown box we can view the page events. But i c# code behind i can find events for controls like button and other controls. but in c# how to view the page events.
I have a page with formview, the page contains a lot of input fields and a lot of validators and when I press "Save" button (in which I perform insert procedure) the form is validated, but button click event and page load happens. Validators and button belong to the same validation group. How to avoid button click and page load events happening when some validators aren't correct? In page without formview everything works ok, I click "Save" button and when all validators are correct only then happens button click event. How to fix that with form view?
I am using ASP.NET's server-side validation. In the page_load event I'm calling Page.Validate(), and if Page.IsValid is not true I'm then polling the controls to figure out which ones are not valid, and then determining what actions to take.It would be much easier if each control would raise an event as validation fails, allowing me to take action for that particular control. I'm very much a naive programmer when it comes to validation, but is there a way to extend these controls so that a validation error raises an event?
In my user control I have gridview, and this grid is created programmatically, using Itemplate. In InstantiateIn methods I have this code.
Select Case _templateType Case ListItemType.Header Dim linkButton As New LinkButton [code]....
I want to wired up Click event to this LinkButton, and use this event in code behind.This is constructor of GridViewTemplate how implements ITemplate
Public Sub New(ByVal type As ListItemType, ByVal colname As String, Optional ByVal infoType As String = "") 'Stores the template type. _templateType = type 'Stores the column na [code]....
and i have this call from user control:bfield.ItemTemplate = New GridViewTemplate(ListItemType.Item, dt.Columns(col).ColumnName, "label")
where is Dim bfield As TemplateField = New TemplateField()
I am using one datalist control for uploading multiple images.I hv used one Asp:FileUplaod Control and one button in one itemtemplate.I am using reqired field validator and regular expression validator for file upload cntrl I am assigning validation group for both of them on ItemDataBound event of my datalist so that each upload cntrl hv same validaton group as required field and regular expression validator.Now what i want to do is - i want to show my error message in validation summary which is right at the top of the page.I want one know how to write javascript that will assign validation group of my control in datalist on which i click ?
In a multigrid i have validating two controls like date and amount.it is validating correctly when i press the tabevent.when i press the save button it is not validating.iam using two validations gruops and two validation summary.Then in save button i have also tried onclientclick() function with javascript it s working fine but if i give the correct value in date and amount records not saving how to over come this.
1) Click on 'Check' button and the button will disable
2) Run a processing code(for checking) and once it is done, navigate to a new page(NewPage2).
Here are 2 code situations (1):
[Code]....
and if I do this way (2),:
[Code]....
it will navigate to NewPage2.aspx, but during the execution of the processing code, ButtonCheck control will not be disabled as the Click Event has not finished, and I want it to disable during the checking process. If the 1st option is executed, it will throw to me "Response is not available in this context."? HttpContext is null for (1). In my opinion, I think that the navigation does not recognise the response object as it is in a thread and has exited out of the buttoncheck event. But I'm still not sure why.
how to disable the button and run processing code during the click event and be able to navigate to a new page?
I need to collect the data entered by user for a quote and send all the data with labels to an email address. SMTP server is set up in web.config file, but I need to know the code behind for the submit button click event for the form. I do not need to store any data in a data base just need to send each label,field,radiobutton,etc. user responses to email address. All of the code I have been able to find has not applied to my situation.
How can I add a click event to my div from code behind?
Im looking upon clicking on the div to be greeted by a message box with would you like to delete this and a yes or no within the box?
All from the code behind:
while (reader.Read()) { System.Web.UI.HtmlControls.HtmlGenericControl div = new System.Web.UI.HtmlControls.HtmlGenericControl("div"); div.Attributes["class"] = "test";
I'm building a button in my code behind file and want to bind the click function to an existing click function of a different button. How do I handle this? I was hoping for something simple like:
Button b = new Button(); b.onClick = otherClickEvent();
but apparently that's not doable. Am I missing something here. I'm aware of OnClientClick, but that only deals with the JS side of things apparently.
I have individual controls with different groups in two separate divs in an aspx page. I am passing a querystring value to this page and on page load depending on the querystring value want to show the divs n change the validation group.
Here is my situation. I have inherited an MVC 2 application. I am learning MVC 2 on the fly with this application. I am trying to validate a checkbox by doing this: Grey out the submit button until the user clicks on the "checkbox" then the submit button is enabled. 1st question: Where do I place the code to make this happen? 2nd Question: How do I go about doing what I explained? I wanted to use a simple javascript code within the click event of the checkbox but I don't see this in MVC 2.
I currently have this working but it requires me to have a static method as the method called in the code behind. I would like to be able to access some member variables that can't be static.
EDIT: Let me clarify, I'm looking to edit a value in one of the user controls on the page based on the button click. I am holding the user controls in a list on the page and using the parameters passed through the javascript to find the user control that I want to update and modify the value there.
It currently looks like this:
Javascript:
function incrementCompletes(obj) { var firstParameter = $(obj).parents('.parentClass1').find('.childClass1').html(); var secondParameter = $(obj).parents('.parentClass2').find('.childClass2').html();
[Code]....
I would like to find a solution that does not require the method called to be static.
im tryign to add a double click event to an asp:listbox, i found a forum post on google that had the code below on it, but didnt explain how to use it. ive hazarded a guess but am still getting errors
the InitializeComponent method ive had to comment out as, im getting InitializeComponent does not exist in the current context and ive googled that its not needed for web forms?
EventHandler.Control.DoubleClick can only appear at += etc error ive tried Listbox.Controls.Add.DoubleClick but that gives ControlCollection.Add is a method which is not valid in the current given context
How can i add a click event to my entire table (not row or cell) that will trigger a server side method and not a JS method.I know i can add attribute which calls JS and then add post back as follows:
I have a web form in which I create many controls including a submit button dinamically.
I want to check a condition in the button's click event and if it comes true, call a javascript funtion to show an alert. but the problem is when I use :
