Web Forms :: How To Use A Treeview To Link To Files In Subfolders

Feb 19, 2010

I have a folder "hr" on my "WebApps" site. In that folder, are a severl subfolders: MS, NC, VA and so forth. Each subfolder contains a series of .pdf documents. Rather than create an .aspx page in each subfolder with a corresponding static link in a default-type page in the parent folder, I thought it would look better to set up a treeview which lists each subfolder name and, when clicked on, displays links to the files inside each subfolder. So far so good. Where it's breaking down is the actual link to each document.

Is there a way to set the hyperlink up programmatically?

This is my treeview code (nothing fancy):

I'm just not sure where to go from here.

How To Handle Every Request To A Folder (including Requests To Subfolders Within)

I have a folder structure that is odd and I need to find a way to deal with. Example, if you go to site.com/x/y/z/, I would like to have a script in the /x folder that grabs all incoming requests, even if the request was to /x/y/filename or /x/y/z/1/2/filename. Is it possible?

AJAX :: Controls Work In Subfolders But Not In Root Folder?

Jan 8, 2010

EDITED To make issue more clear. I have also discovered this same issue with validatorcallout extensions used in a usercontrol in a root page and a subfolderpage

I have a strange issue I cannot figure out. I have a usercontrol that is used to display news story details. One of the requirements is to be able to email the story to someone. In this control I have included a modal popup to do contain the email form. What is really strange is that if the control is used in a page in a subfolder themodalpopup works as designed but when the control is in a page in the root folder while the usercontrol still works, themodalpopup control stops working.

Controls/StoryDetails.ascx

[Code]....

This control gets placed within a masterpage via a base MasterPageClass when there is a storyid in the querystring object

[Code]....

When the master page resides at the root level the popup doesn't work but in anyother folder it does work.

Localization - Put Resource Files (.resx) Within Subfolders Inside App_GlobalResources?

Mar 30, 2010

Is it possible to put resource files (.resx) within subfolders inside App_GlobalResources? For example:

/App_GlobalResources/someresources/myfile.resx
/App_GlobalResources/someresources/myfile.fr-fr.resx
/App_GlobalResources/othereresources/otherfile.resx
/App_GlobalResources/othereresources/otherfile.fr-fr.resx

Or, are all the .resx files placed directly inside App_GlobalResources? If it is possible to use subfolders, how do you programmatically access resources within subfolders?

Visual Studio 2005 Wont Find Files In Subfolders?

Oct 6, 2010

I am having a heck of a time with this. Visual Studio 2005 SP1 can not find my files and javascript files whenever I put it in the subfolders. In the solution explorer, I've created subolfders such as /js and /css. This is inside my main folder: AJAXEnabledWebApplication1css and AJAXEnabledWebApplication1js

In HTML code, when I put this: <script type="text/javascript" src="js/jquery-1.4.2.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="ui/jquery.ui.core.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="ui/jquery.ui.widget.js"></script> [code]...

every single one of them is highlighted that it can not find the specified file. But wait, if I add those files manually to the root folder and to the solution explorer, it is no problem!inside the reference paths for the program, I've also pointed to the root folder location:

c:document adn settingsmynamemy DocumentsVisual studio 2005ProjectsAJAXEnableDwebApplication1

Web Forms :: Deleting A Folder Clears Static String?

Jul 14, 2010

i have an a web app where i have a .cs file and .aspx file ..I have a function called display which calls the .cs file and use the static connecting sting to display data.I have a log folder which is just used by update function.No connecting with display.

The app runs completely fine when nothing is being done.But when i delete the log foler manually and press refresh button (which calls the display method) then the static string value is set to null.It seems very wierd.I kept a break point at the .cs file declared static varaible.Its declared in class so its value is for the whole class.

public class mon

{

static string constr;

[code]...

It works completely fine (i mean not clearing the constr) until i delete a folder in the MONWeb1 directory.So what happens is that i delete a folder and when i press refresh button which instiante the class vairable.

It comes here.

public class mon

{

static string constr;

& makes it null .. (i had a watch on that variable).This is really very odd.

I have a small website with a database. Just two tables for personaldata and for files belongs to the personal data.

This files are stored on HD. My problem is to delete this file by clicking on delete button within gridview. At the moment only the record is deleting but not the file which belongs to this record.

That is my Gridview:

and see the screenshot. (how it looks like)

i get allready help here to create the right codebehind file for that.

i have tried that this way:

.NET Web Site Gets Recompiled When Renaming Or Deleting A Folder Inside?

Apr 23, 2010

I develop a simple file manager inside an ASP.NET Web site (not web application). I notice that every time I rename or delete a folder, the site gets recompiled - i.e. the very next web request after delete or rename operation takes considerably much time to execute.

It's only true for folders, not for files.Why does this occur?

P.S. I use WebDev server (Cassini), haven't tested in on IIS yet.

UPDATE: The same disaster happens with ASP.NET MVC Web Applications :(

Forms Data Controls :: Gridview And Deleting / Editing Files In Virtual Directory?

Feb 26, 2010

COMPLETE NOOB, dont know anything.. I have a Virtual directory ~/ClubInfoFiles that i upload some files too using a uploader i made. I might want to change the uploader i made to be able to change to a subdirectory or something so i can upload all files into one folder but different subdirectorys. the uploader i would like to be able to have a dropdown menu of all the subdirectorys within "ClubInfoFiles" say i has subfolders : Minutes, Flight Plans, Maintence Records, etc... but i would also like a field to where i can create a new subdirectory and have it automaticly update the dropdown. i want to list those files in gridview and have a link to dowload/open and dellete the files. i have found some code that gets close but it uses Auto Generate columns. really i dont need all that jazz, just the Name, File extention, and hyperlink the file for download/view. i would like to be able to delete and possible upload using the gridview... is this to much for a noob?

The file is an *.swf object. I did put the asapi.dll to map the extension on the website root, I´ve put the

It won´t work!!! I can access the file directly!!! on the web.config of the folder that contains the file, there is a <deny users="*" /> line.

Web Forms :: List Files In Web Folder?

Jan 30, 2011

I have a simple user control which needs to output a list of images in a particular folder. I'm passing a property containing the folder path into the method so the same method can be used with different folders on other occasions.

What I have is almost working, but there seems to be a problem with the format of the file paths. Here's the usercontrol:

[Code]....

This loops through the files absolutely fine, but they don't render because the 'src' attribute is a local file path as opposed to a web-safe file path or a relative path. It renders like this:

<img src="C:UsersMeDocumentsMy Web Sitesmysiteiconsflagsad.png" /><img src="C:UsersMeDocumentsMy Web Sitesmysiteiconsflagsae.png" /><img src="C:UsersMeDocumentsMy Web Sitesmysiteiconsflagsaf.png" />

how to update my code so that it looks for files in the folder relatively, or uses correct absolute paths for the website to render the images correctly?
