Here are the options that we're looking at:Create a VLAN that is isolated from the network for development. This will allow us to use any software, including IIS, that we want. A disadvantage is testing Web services with external organizations, which can be overcome by using stubs.Not use a VLAN and use only the ASP.NET Development Server that comes with Visual Studio, and then deploying that code to the development server. This has the disadvantage of not being able to replicate the production environment during local development.

Each resource is a link to another site, document, download, etc. All resources are stored in a SQL backend.I'm looking for a method to be able to check all links in the DB, then mark the broken ones. Is there any .NET function that would service this? We could do it in our existing web app or build a console app or whatever. I'd also be interested in 3rd party software if it met my requirements.

I know this should be put around a <script> tag inside my .aspx file but what should my markup look like. I assume that "#grid1" is wraped within a html <table> but what would the pager: '#pgrid3' be? jQuery will do the replacement on the client side here.
I Downloaded MVC MusicStore sample and tried to open the solution (MVCMusicStore.sln) from Visual studio (SP1) .But it gives me the error "The selected file is a solution but was created by a newer version of this application and cannot be opened.
So I downloaded Townhall application and tried to open the solution from VS2008. Then I get the error Townhall.Azure.ccproj cannot be opened because its project type ccproj is not supported by this version of the application.
NB : I have MVC2 Installed

Walkthrough: Using TDD with ASP.NET MVC
I want to know two things about ASP.NET MVC2 that I've researched from Google but still confusing. Hope I can find clear and clean answer here.
First, how to upload a file to server with custom file path. (Eg. to /Content/Files)
Second, how to download that file, since the url has applied URL Rounting, how to map to them?

It may not be fare to ask like this, but I don't have enough time to do R&D on that topic, of course I did enough study but I am unable to get the exact way to implement spell checker in my application.
Can any one suggest me how to implement spell checker and where to get source code.
I have been assigned a task to find a decent spell checker (UK English) preferably the free one for a project that we are doing.
I have looked at Google AJAX API for this. The project contains some young person's (kids less than 18 years old) data which shouldn't allow exposing or storing outside the application boundaries. Google logs the data for research purpose that means Google owns the data whatever we send over the wire through Google API. Is this right? I fired an email to Google regarding the privacy of data and storage but they haven't come back. If you have some knowledge regarding this At this point our servers might not have access to external entities that means we might not be able to use Web API for this over the wire. But it may change in the future. That means I have to find out some spell checker alternatives that can sit in our environment and do the job or an external APIs.
Would you mind share your findings and knowledge in this regard. I would prefer free services but never know if you have some cracking spell checker for a few quid's then I don't mind recommending to the project board. Technology using ASP.NET 3.5/4.0, MVC, jQuery, SQL Sever 2008 etc
I am a developer who up until now only used WAP assemblies. Is that old and outdated nowadays? For example I have found a really great sample of google map API I'l like to use but my project is in VB.NET and the sample is using code in App_Code folder in C# so I cannot mix and integrate in a easy way. Do I have to convert the C# code into VB.Net to make it work or is there a shortcut when finding sample code in App_Code folder in the wrong code language?

So this list of rules/fraud indicators will change and grow so I want to make sure it's easily maintainable and really solid. I'm thinking I have an abstract class rule that each of the rules implements.

Then I'm thinking of having a class that accepts an Order object in it's costructor and checks though the list of rules. Something like:

So I was trying to think of the best place/best way to populate the FraudChecker.Rules list and started thinking there might be some nice design pattern that does something like what I'm doing. Has anyone seen a design pattern I should use here? Or can anyone think of a good place to populate this list?

View 3 RepliesI have read many forums to see if I could find a solution and there hasn't been anything that is what I need. I have an asp:calendar that you select a date on there and a panel pops up. On the panel, the start date and end date are filled with the selected date from the asp:calendar. The end date field has the CalendarExtender. When you open it, the selected date on there is the same as from the asp:calendar which is good. What I need is to tweak my javascript to check to make sure that the user picks a date after the selected date from the asp:calendar. so if they pick 11/4/2010 as a start date, the end date cannot be fore 11/4/2010. Only anything after that. Not todays date(ex. 10/22/2010).codebehind for my asp:calendar sending the dates

View 8 RepliesI created a table named Thread to store logged-on users' comments. It has CommentId, Topic, Comment, CreatedTime and UserId columns. I made CommentId as the primary key and UserId as the foreign key to the UnserId in the Membership table aspnet_Users.But when I insert those data into table Thread, I get an error "Cannot insert the value NULL into column 'UserId', table 'ASPNETDB.dbo.Thread'; column does not allow nulls. INSERT fails.The statement has been terminated." I have tried different ways to resolve this, but could not make the UserId in the table Thread match the UserId in table aspnet_Users. Yesterday, I found the Table Profile Provider Samples created by Hao Kung at http://www.asp.net/downloads/sandbox/table-profile-provider-samples. It should be be able to solve my problem. But the code was written in C#. Is there anybody who knows a VB version of this code, or a better way to solve my problem?
