I would like to highlight (bold) and disable certain items in the dropdownlist for selection.
My dropdownlist is fed from a SQL table of countries e.g.
Europe
-UK
-FR
-DE
-AU
I need to heading "Europe" to be not selectable? the database has a column (selectable = 0) for those heading and I need to make them not selectable on the client side.
May i know how to create the control function in asp.net to control the values ?
Based on the DB table, it active is Y then enable values in dropdownlist , if N then disable the values.
I am moving an app from Silverlight back to ASP.NET. (Don't ask!) I really liked the ability to highlight ListBox items as the user moved the mouse over the items. I have been Bing'ing all morning and cannot seem to find any way to do this in ASP.NET with an ASP:ListBox. I tried setting the onmouseover event for the list items themselves. But that did nothing.

I then tried setting onmouseover event for the list itself. I can get the event, but I don't know how to determine which item I am over. I only seem to have the selectedIndex. If I am just moving the mouse, I have no selectedIndex.

View 1 RepliesI have two web forms. There is a Button Control on one web form and One DropDownlist on another web form which binds "States" on Page_load().
If i click on button in the first web form which pulls out one state (for ex: VA-Virginia) but it should be highlighted and displayed in the dropdown of next web form.
I had use a combox to let user select staff name and then it will automatically retrive the responsible recommending officer and approving officer to display in other 2 dropdownlist.
my code works fine but when user select staff name each time, the page will reload once to refresh the dropdownlist.
user complaint and don't want the page reload every time, how can i disable the postback? I need to use ajax?

I have a drop down that lists all our 40+ locations.. I then have a list box with all our locations as well. The client is presented with the question which locations have you worked at before. If they pick say 3 locations, i need to remove or disable those 3 from the drop down. I have other code for creating a drop down, but not sure where to go with this.

I have an ASP.net gridview on a webform where user's can select a row. When they select it, the row is highlighted yellow. The problem is that when I sort the table, it sorts properly but the highlight stays on the same line. The data all moves, but the highlight stays put.
how I can make the highlight stay with the data?

View 5 RepliesI have a dropdown list for the which values are coming from DB. There is one option name OTHER, when I select other the textbox appears. For that Textbox I have made a required field validator. Till here it works fine. But when I select any other option, still it gives me validator errors. It should not happen. It should only give me required field error when the user doesn't fills the textbox on select of OTHER option. Please see the code.

I have a dropdownlist which get item from database (say this field has 10 records for this dropdown list.
I want the users are not restricted to these 10 items. What is the quickest way to do so the user can type in new values and insert into database ?
I see that dropdownlist has an "items" property to get the list of displayed items for a dropdown, but it doesn't seem to have an equivalent property for getting the "values" associated with the items. For example, I may have a dropdown that displays "High", "Medium" and "Low", but returns values of "H", "M", "L". How can I easily get that list of HML?

When the user chooses one of the hours in DropDownListStart I want the program to adjust what's shown in DropDownListStop so that the first hour shown is one hour after the hour chosen in DropDownListStart.
