I have a dataset that has two datatables. In the first datatable I have EmpNo,EmpName and EmpAddress. In the second datatable I have Empno,EmpJoindate, EmpSalary. I want a result where I should show EmpName as the label and his/her details in the gridview. I populate a datalist with the first table, and have EmpNo as the datakeys. Then I populate the gridview inside the datatable which has EmpNo,EmpJoinDate and EmpAddress. My code is

In the code above persons is a dictionary of custom class,and certs is of IEnumerable type.Now here's the quandary.The first line that sets the label returns False,so certs is not null.But the second line throws an null reference exception.

I created a gridview that is made up of 4 gridviews and using a stored procedure to populate it. I create columns at runtime because the number of columns changes all the time.To make the grids editable I am adding template fields at runtime as I create the columns, this is to ensure that a user is able to edit the cells and some foot values update. Reason why I have four grids is to freeze rows and columns like in excel using javascript. The problem is that performance is very bad especially in IE, the grids take a long time to load. I am not sure if this is caused by the data load or the creation of text boxes. see some of the code below for my _aspx page:

I have a dataGrid with ButtonColumns in my asp page and I would like to do the following to:
When a row is clicked, I want to be able to:
1 - Hide all rows and display only the clicked row dynamically/on the fly.
trying to loop thru the datagrid and display only the Row index passed by the OnITemComman - but unsure of how to do it.
2 - Extract the row values (all cells in the row) to use as parameters in a query.
Used many ways of many examples but i always get a blank value. Managed to get the button text in the class but i need the full row values not just the cell clicked.
When the box is checked, I want to display the length of Textbox1's value. The problem I encounter with the code below is that it gives error about object not found. It cannot find TextBox1 object. I try to replace document.forms[0].TextBox1.value.length with MainContent_TextBox1.value.length or with document.getElementById("TextBox1").value.length or with document.getElementById('<%= TextBox1.ClientID %>').value.length but none of those works. They all give the same error about Textbox1 object.

View 1 RepliesI need to concatenate several columns of a table into a single value, then show that value in an asp dropdownlist. The SQL code I'm issuing is as follows:
SELECT UserID, CustomerNum, UserName + ' - ' + UserAddress + ',' + UserCity + ' ' + UserState AS UserInfo
FROM Users
WHERE (CustomerNum = @CustomerNum)
ORDER BY UserName
I then set 'UserInfo' as the text field in the dropdownlist.This generally works, except occasionally one of the columns in the database is null (for example, UserState). When that happens, the entire concatenation is null, and I get an empty entry in the dropdownlist.
Is there something in SQLServer that will allow me to ignore those NULL results, or will I have to code something up in the DataBind event?
I want label to display limited text say 20 char even the data it retrieve from database may be more than 20 char.. like in gmail,we see message body limited when we click it display whole message..how is that possible...?

I know that there can be 24 relevant periods for each user. There may or may not be all 24 present for each user.
Now all that 24 periods I have in an array in C#. I know what these periods will be. They change so I cannot hardcode it. It has to be dynamic.
I want to create 24 columns of that rows for relevant periods and display TotalCount in that and get all other data accordingly in c#.
I want to put an input table on a web page using ASP.NET. The input table has 3 columns: date, quantity, and price. The number of rows is variable, depending on user input. The code behind will read the data and perform the necessary calculations. The data will not go into a database. It would be nice to have some client-side or server-side validation for the data, such as required fields and range checking.

Iam working on an asp.net application.Recently client come with new requirement. Need a control which is similar to table or like gridview with rows and columns.It should allow user to enter data in the cells. And when the user press tab it should go to next cell and finally if we press enter key, it should validate the data entered in the current row and if data is correct it should create a new empty next row(like entering data manually in an sqlserver table). How can i implement this functionality? Can i use gridview / javascript to implement this functionality.
