Aug 26, 2010I have a page with in a master page. This page has a user control with a text box and a button. I also have another button on the page. As the page first loads the button_click event on both the controls does not fire when clicking the buttons. I also have an event on the enter key on the text box. This event fires which causes a post back. After post back now my button_click event fire. The button_click event does not fire on the first page_load.

The new button has a click event attached with a test message.What I have to do is onclick change background color of dynamically created button and grab id value to delete when button delete is clicked. Jun 22, 2010I am adding numerical page links for paging of a repeater. I have used on of the numerical paging samples as my base. It works fine if I have less pages than my maximum total links. Eg if I have 11 pages, but only showing page 1-10 plus a next for the 11th, I get an error about duplicate control ids. I changed my control id to use a Guid in the string to keep it unque, after making this change the event handler never fires

Mar 8, 2010I am creating two buttons within the StoryGet() method, first when the page loads. When one of the buttons is pushed, lets say the left one - I want to call another method - "ButtonLeft_Click"
Ive used this same solution in other sites and it worked. With this solution, click event never fires.
If I move the StoryGet() call from Page_Load to PageInit() the button event fires, but because this event also calls StoryGet() the method runs twice, which I don't want.
I tried adding this to page_init so the original StoryGet() method only gets run the first time the page loads unless the method is called directly but then the page loads, but the button click event doesn't run again

Web Forms :: Firing Click Event On A User-control That Is Created From Another Event?
Mar 1, 2011I have a gridview called gvResults. In the gvResults_RowEditing event I add a row below the one selected. In that new row, which spans all columns, I insert a user-control. There are two buttons and some textboxes in the user control.
My problem is that when I click one of the user-control buttons it never gets to the button event handler, I think because the user control is not recreated on the page postback. How can I have the user-control events fire before the parent page events fire?
I tried using an update panel, but I still get the parent posting back before the user-control events.

now i want to pass the the selected menu item text to the other page using session variable which is in the menu item click event method.but the thing is when i click on the menu item, the click event is not firing.
is there any better way to pass the selected menu item text to the other page?

What happens is that the control is created and rendered;
When I change value in the Combo box a Post-Back happens.
HOWEVER, the event RadComboBoxSelectedIndexChanged does not fire. Also when I am back at the page the new value is not saved; Obviously, i recreate the control every time. If I don't I get a ViewState error. Seems to me that there some ViewState management problem, but I cannot identify it...

In project there is a aspx page which is binded with a masterpage, the problem is that when i run the project in debugging mode i found that page load event of a page is firing two times instead of one along with masterpage page's page load event. This is crreating a problem in filling a grid. I searched through the internet for this problem some says that it may happen if u have any image whose src="" or due to some bad HTML's on page .But i've gone through the page it does not contain any image whose src="" .

Jan 27, 2010 am using a master page, with children pages.
I am using forms authentication, and a session object to hold user information once the user is authenticated.
I am able to login and log out. I am able to log in and use the "remember me" functionality of the forms authentication.
When attempting to test the "remember me" functionality, the master page load event contains code to check the forms authentication & remember me, and retrieve user info from the database to automatically log the user in. This fires correctly, and the screens all load with the user successfuly logged in, and the users info is successfully stored in a session object.
Without touching anything on the screen, a moment passes and then the master page load event spontaneously fires again, Page.User.Identity.Name still contains the user name, however the session variable is now null, and throws an error.If I tell it to run past this error, it does, and the application continues to function normally, withthe session variables set correctly.
Its almost as if that second firing is ina different session, or something.
I have no problem posting code, but I have a profile class holding / handling the session communication, etc so it is a bit cumbersome.

Mar 11, 2011I have a aspx page, default.aspx, with an user control in it. Inside the user control (UC 1) there is a DataGrid. When the DataGrid is loading data with ItemDataBound, I need to dynamically load another user control (UC 2) for each row in the DataGrid. UC 2 has a Button ( BTN )with an eventhandler associated with it in code behind.
User control loading is fine, and the Button, BTN, is there. However, when I click the Button, the eventhandler is not reached, not firing, even though the page does postback. I googled for this issues, and I know the dynamically loaded user controls need to be loaded every time the page is postback. In my case, it needs to be loaded each time the datagrid is doing ItemDataBound. I did it and even hook up the eventhandler with button click event each time when the user control is dynamically loaded. I set EnableViewState to true on the Page and controls.

apparently they are not firing on first try. The reason i am doing this is the two views have tables with different images to be used in building my menu.

1. I need to load a user control on link click event of a link button during postback of aspx page.
2. On button click event of a save button on that aspx page, I need to read the selected values from that user control on further postback.
If I write the loadcontrol code in link_click event, the control is not recognized at all in the button_click event. When I shift it to page_init and execute only during not postback, the user control loads with default values.

So I am incrementing the cookie I am using to track the page number and then rebinding the repeater.
Here is the main issue. The first time I click Next, it works, it goes to Page 2 without any problems. When on Page 2, I click Next, it goes back to Page 1. Seems like the Next event is not wiring up properly.

Feb 11, 2011I have a DetailsView control bound to an ObjectDataSource within a User Control (.ascx). It appears that the DetailsView.OnDataBound event is being fired on every page load or postback.
I do not see this behavior with a similiar DetailsView directly placed on an aspx page.

Oct 8, 2010I just discover why some validation is working bad on some of my forms: the button click event is being called before page load.
What I need for good is (I consider this is a normal cycle of events):
The user press a buttonSome validation occurs at client side (js function returns true if success)Some validation occurs at server sideThe page loads again showing the results
But this is what I get (BAD):
